The job of a coach is to partake his expertise. Adrian made a good job for making a better system but the British female gymnastic hasn't found her style yet.
Neither system centralized or not is bad but you loose some part of the creativity of the original coaches if they had one.
Adrian is right that it is by better coaches in clubs that progress can be made. The only thing is that coaches of WAG do not understand the importance of all the small work beside the apparatus and physical training.
Romanians are always a fighter when it comes to gymnastics. I have never seen them coming lower than bronze ever since nadia helped her team get silver at montreal. USA are not the most consistent type. They only get the worlds but never the olympics. I even doubt their win at atlanta coz the crowd is behind usa and their booing demoralizes other teams. Its not done in a fair way.
UK will have a hard time medalling at olympics @ team competition in the next 1000years if they continue with their system.
every major power in WAG has a centralized training system(or semi-3 to 6months per year-as USA,but they have numbers from where too choose their best gymnasts).
as for this guy,Adrian Stan(uneven bars),he's great, part of the original guys that built the romanian tradition together with Adrian Goreac(vault-and head coach),Octavian Bellu(floor),Maria Cosma(beam).
The commentator calls Silivas 'unlucky' for winning 'just' the silver medal in the All Around at Seoul. I should be so unlucky. He failed to mention she won a total of 6 Olympic medals in all 6 events-3 of them Gold. We should all have such 'bad' luck!
Romania makes this sport shine. The fact is we dominate this sport like no other country. Our team has won the last 3 out of 4 olympics, and we even teach others about this sport.National coaches of USA,GB,and maybe others are romanians...nuf said
Really? Romanian gymnasts always get the lowest marks on uneven bars so I do not see how they "get the benefit of the doubt". Do you expect the judges to give them 7's and 6's???? While the uneven bars is generally a weakness for them, they still do the job and the marks are significantly lower but they make it up on the floor and the beam....
If anybody gets the benefit of the doubt it is the US team....Take a look at the 1984 and the 1996 Olympics...In 1996 Romanian gymnasts were booed by the crowd (at the Olympics!!!)because they were leading...Americans finally got gold and Romania silver...the booing stopped of course...
That is true-the got the Bronze at the 1996 Olympics behind Russia in Silver spot, and the U.S. of course won gold. Romania still did a fantastic job considering they were handicapped with just 6 competing gymnasts versus the other top teams who had 7 and could drop the lowest scores.

I think that the Romanians has a good work-ethic; however, I do think that they are given the benefit of the doubt too much especially on uneven bars
