  • No flaps? Check list buddy! :)

  • Man that ate up a lot of runway! Looks like a terror to fly that thing.

  • If this is the only twin-pusher airplane, this is fast but noisy. I live not too far from airport, and I can hear it buzzing overhead on line up for landing.

  • They are... my office is right next to the runway they land on.. when he is coming in.. I know just who it is... and what kind of plane..

funny.. the big Gulfstreams... are quieter... a lot quieter... until they put reverses on...

Thank you to all who have commented on this and other videos... I dont pretend to be an expert on any of them, I just like posting the videos of planes that land here at Sedona... SedonaAl

    al

  • They are sooooooo loud!

  • Actually it's not a canard upfront, but a wing cause it has flaps also. Check Piaggio's website.

  • the fuselage creates lift? that's crazy

  • That's what the pilots told me. That's one of the reasons it can fly so high.. 40,000 feet I was told.

  • Up to 20% overall lift - unfortunately it's also one of the reasons the aircraft has such high takeoff / landing speeds; especially dangerous for gear-up landings which is fairly common due to gear failure in these.

Still one of the coolest planes out there!

  • Probably has a high wind loading. Can this aircraft glide in the event of both engines failing? Also, can it produce the full 1450 shp each engine with the power levers full forward or does it only produce the flat rated 850 shp each engine. Thx.

  • @EstorilEm : High take off and landing speeds? It rotates at about a 104 kts. Approach near abouts 125. How are these speeds high? Its more or less the same as a King Air or any other aircraft in its class. Its also got excellent short field performance

  • @duckfandango I'll give you the approach #s (at full flaps) but you're a good bit off with the takeoff numbers as I find a 120KIAS rotation speed @ MTOW versus 95 for a super king air 200. A Citation 500 JET rotates at 102KIAS @ MTOW. Vref for both the king air and citation are also nearly 25 kts slower than the avanti.

Don't get me wrong, I think this is one of the coolest aircraft in the skies but it does in fact have nerve-racking approach/takeoff speeds :P

  • @EstorilEm : You sure about that mate? Ok because I was told it was 104 but anyways I could be wrong. 120 really is quite a lot. I fly the King Air C90's which rotate at 97 KIAS @MTOW

  • the front two wings do

  • @JumpShotHero There has been a debate as to very much looking aircraft taken from graves in Central America. I know of 2 mock ups that could display lift from body. There was a mech. engr there at the trial. It was launched so that the plane would put it's nose up while slowing; the engr. hoped it did nothing. Not only did the mock up fly it's nose went up while slowing and it was noticed that the fuselage at the wing roots formed a large surface area to break fall.

  • I see this Piaggio all the time at Sedona and Scottsdale.

  • Thank you for postig this video! 5/5!

  • Awesome, I like the bit where there's a gleam on the wing lol. I have download this for FSX, it's awesome

  • Nice plane spotting. What was the exact date you filmed this. I may have been flying it. I remember a chopper going right to left behind us after takeoff from sedona last year.

  • Was it dropping off Darth Vader?

  • It also can cruise near jet speeds but I have also heard it is a hand full to fly.

  • Those props make music. Lovely thanks.

  • A magnificent bird, but thie real magic is in watching one of these puppies climb out after takeoff!!

  • Gorgeous Plane!!!
