Patience ... keep the tunnel a place of safty and wait till its out so that it has a place to go when it feels scared or threatend this will reduce stress
Is there a strong, offensive smell when Blue Tongues defecate? I ask because I currently have several species of gecko, and they have little to no smell. Thanks.
in 3 weeks im gonna be getting a BTS from someone who is moving and can no longer have it. I CANT BELIEVE YOU HAVE 12 BRICKS OF ECO EARTH IN THERE!!!! for me, 1 brick is enough for my 20 gal tank of tiger salamanders hahaha. the bricks you got cant be the same size because 12 of mine would fill up like 80 gallons of tank.
so anyways thats a nice lookin setup you have there and a pretty good video. i like how he's playin like theme music in the background haha
i see what you mean about them shrinking, the skink setup is hot and dry whereas my salamander setup has to be cool and very moist. that stuff shrinks as it dries so that explains it.
hey i am getting my BTS on friday and i am getting everything i need for a good enclosure i already got a 66 gallon and alot of bark on the ground i am getting a red 100watt light at the 1 end of it and i already got a UV light is there anything else i should get? beside water dish
i got a hide i got an electric heating rock and a big piece of bark that my berberskink loves and theres between 37-40 C in hot end and in coldest 26-30 c
heating rocks can have some big problems, but some people use them without a problem. I don't know why you would risk it though. Other then that temps sound great.
Lol your friend was annoying with the guitar >.> Cool, what is his basking temperature? I want one, but my house is around 60-70 degrees year round, and I don't know to get the 100 watt or 160 watt powersun bulb from zoomed...don't wanna test it myself, bulbs are $37 O.O
can i use culcium inreched sand for these guys becuse the pet shop guy said hes been using the stuff for 3 years with out a problem its the exo terra dessert sand
ive heard from both sides. ive heard that calcium sand is digestable but i also heard that it can cause impaction. idk if thats only for leopard geckos or not but i just wouldnt take the risk
yeah all i hear about is leos and beardies getting impacted and a few type of snake i cant finde a lizard besides leos and beardies that have been impacted but im going to feed him out of the cage untill i replace the sand just dont whant to get rid of the sand becuase it costed $80
I've heard that's true, if anyone wants my input. Playsand is good. But what I really think is that leos will get impacted on anything. If you really want to be safe, why not just use something like eco earth, or even paper towels? (Towels are for babies only, I would never do that for adults.) Also I would just use what you have always used, there's no point in switching if you've been successful with it just because other people haven't. That goes the same with both sides. =)

Yea, it does. Glass gets rid of the uvb almost completely.

Good luck

blue tongues love to bury themselves
i have 4 blueys and they all bury them self in the leaves
you should also have a bark hide spot
that is a cool hide spot but he would like it that much at all
shreadsguitar14 2 years ago
My skink buries in the dirt all of the time, that is a bark hide, and I have no idea what that last part meant...

sand is the worst substrate to use. It has a very high chance of killing your pet of impaction. Its really not worth the risk.

a much cheaper and better way u can go is use child safe playsand. its like $3 and its much safer than calcium
