I went to Cane Hill yesterday. Does anyone know where the sign is that says 'Footpath to Cane Hill Hospital?' We saw the sign 'Patients use this footpath, please drive safely' but we want a picture with the Footpath to the hospital sign before it gets taken down in demolition. Where is it, guys?!?!

It used to be not far from Coulsdon South station, formerly Cane Hill & Coulsdon South station. The sign was stolen shortly after demolition started.

Guys, a heads up. Demolition has started on June 2 2008. They've already made a star on a few buildings. Demolition is to take 18 months.

If you want to get along and smash the place to bits before the demo gets there you've only got a few months.

The buildings to be saved are the chapel, admin, and water tower, so don't smash those buildings but anything else can be trashed.

visited 31/05/08 inside and all, even had a pic on the morgue slab, lovely place. dangerous tho, security caught us and threw us out, nice bunch of guys, lukily we had chocolate covered brazil nuts and security seemed to like them, as did the dog, lukily we didnt get Bruno the alsatian, it was a freindly mastif. they just make you delete all your pics of the place or they call the police, Recorery Pro FTW

i went in there on the 25. 5. 08 by myself its the best place ive explored!!!!! i got in "one of the bars on the fence you can take the screw out" i didnt go around on the top floors because i was by myself and i didnt want to take the chance of falling through but im going back for abetter look soon anyone who wants to come along let me know and we can sort something out just leave me a message!!!

Near my high school i go to there is a mental clinic that is still running today but there was something I will remember forever. I was driving home and a guy that looked like he was in his 60's was running buck naked across the street and rand into my car. I got out and 6 officers where chasing after him. The one loopy guy got up and ran away. When I started to leave, I saw the officers tackle the loopy person.

there is a TV mast in the water tower I think, and after fire damage one of the switches to the building was destroyed so the company put a deisel generator in there.

I reckon that they should do a few guided tours around the grounds. I know they couldn't do it indoors for safety reasons, but I reckon that they should do a limited number of tours before they knock it down so that people can get a good look around, without fear of being chased by dogs/security... I'm guessing that by the end of 2008, Cane Hill will cease to exist. :(

My aunt worked there as part of her nursing training- she hated it- people shagging in the corridors just to get a cigarette, escapees being found dead in the tunnels, suicides on the train tracks, and perhaps worst of all ECT- or electro shock treatment. my cousons got a video from inside cane hill, they filmed it and got in but this was a few months ago the film is really good and freaky its terrible what they have done to it they just left all the patients papers and belongings inside suitcases and everything it is really scary ! they went round the cornor and some man chased em and they just legged it they were so scared
