This type of playing is really skillfull but of boring, sounds like victor wooten. You gotta have slap and fingerstyle, and picking to be a versatile player. Slap is just too cool. i love slapping but you gotta need the smooth fingerstyle. you didn't mention plucktrum with a pick, i'm guessing you're not a fan of that?
if you take a normal jazz bass and remove the pickguard, will it look like this or is the pickguard covering some electronics and stuff and if u take off the pickguard, those will hang out?
the answer to you question is yes, I bought a california corona Jazz Bass with the intension of taking off the scratch plate.You'll find a huge hole drilled in the body and a great big channel routed out from the knobs to the pickups with exposed wiring.
Just goes to show fenders are mass produced over priced pieces off shit and I wish I hadn't been a sheep and fell for the fender hype.
I have a 5-string jazz and I love it, mine definetly wasnt a piece of s***, and I got mine used with just a couple dings and saved over half the price of a new one, Im a Fender man through and through.
