I've only read the manga of Chobits... is the anime as good?

The anime follows most of the storyline in the manga but leaves out a good portion of freya and chii's conversation in the manga but it has some good portion of originals.I also liked the ending in the anime better though. I found the ending in the manga somewhat cruel and ironic.
