quick question i'm not a volunteer, but i always wondered this. in volunteer firefighting do you get assigned to a particular apparatus or is just whoever shows up hops on the one thats leaving?
I'm a volunteer in oregon and you might do crap different back east but Oregon, California, and Washington all follow this type structure and this is basicaly the same types as wildland firefighting and if you do any of that you would know about the IRPG or the incident response pocket guid and it dosent need updated its 2007's
Once again like I said, on the west coast you do things one way, on the East coast we do things another way. Neither is wrong, neither is right, its just the way we operate. You have alot of wildland fire fighting, we do not. We have alot of structure fires, you may not. So I appreciate your trying to put your two cents in but just remember the world doesnt operate like Oregon does.
Once again in your state. Where ever your a fire fighter you may have a different standard. IN Maryland and more so in the county that I am a Fire Fighter in we dont use any of the stuff you listed, and in order to qualify for anything fire apparatus related it must have a 500 GPM or more pump. The tankeer in the video holds 4000 Gallons of water and has a 1000 GPM pump. What ever the "IRPG" books is it needs updating. They dont even make a 300 GPM pumps in anything other than mini pumpers
Hey people thats not a tanker thats a tender tankers fly and drop retardnt tenders drive and haul water if you dnt belive me grab your IRPG if you dont know what that is dont argue with me you probably dont know
In the state of Maryland we do not have aerial fire fighting apparatus to be classified as a tanker. Tankers are fire fighting apparatus with a pump carrying 2500 gallons of water or more in this state and the county I volunteer at. If you want to see a tender, and an aerial tanker try california.
Like you have been told there are different names for the different parts of the country you live in! In Canada we call them Tankers not Tenders! If you can't comprehend that don't argue with anyone! When you see a truck hauling liquids down the road, do you call that a tender truck? I don't know about where you live but most of the US and Canada we call them tankers!!! Most of the Tankers in the Province of Ontario only carry water with only a portable pump to pump off water or draft water
actually its only 4000 gallons, and when in an area where there aren't any hydrants in our first due, or many in the second due, and our second due engine and tankers are more than 5 minutes out, we need the water. Also total between the pumper tanker and the tanker we carry 6000 gallons, not including the 750 booster tank of the rescue engine

no no not a ladder truck a tanker flys you know a fixed wing aircraft
Tankers have wings and drop retardant, Tenders are water haulers on the ground. They have four types as follows.
Type 1 300 GPM, 5000 Gal tank.
Type 2 200 GPM, 2500 Gal tank.
Type 3 200 GPM, 1000 Gal tank.
Type 4 no pump, 1000 Gal tank. this is straight from the IRPG if you want i can scan the page and send it to you

Do you have a ladder at the place where you work? Or would the place where you work be getting one?
