@ripplefilmstudios im also applying to film schools. NYU, Hofstra University, UCF (central florida) and USC are all places that have film programs. Also the art institute of NY has a film program but i believe the other colleges are better

Thanks! No, I didn't do early decision when I applied last year. I found out in late march.

I applied to NYU, UCLA, Chapman, UTexas, and Florida State. I love USC lots.

great film. really laughed hope you do well at usc. one question since you seem to be really good about answering them. What did you put for your portfolio? Because I am not really sure since i just started making films and dont know if I will win anything by next year?

What I've heard about the portfolio list for USC is this: they are looking for a wide range of creative endeavors and accomplishments, not just filmmaking. The greater variety of things you can put down, the better. Things like writing, music, and other art can really help. It's obviously great if you have won awards for any of these, but they are mostly looking for passion, so be sure to display that. Hope that helps.

Thanks! For a dolly, I actually used a moving vehicle. An SUV, in fact. I really don't recommend doing that, since I almost fell out of the car a few times, but it got the job done.

I'm an undergrad. They do have a graduate film program though.

Does USC only want one application film? Or can you have a reel of several shorts?

USC does not require an application film. Just writing samples.

What were your grades like when applying to these schools if you don't mind me asking? Also are you currently in USC this year or will you be attending in the fall?

My unweighted GPA was about 3.83.  I'll be attending USC beginning in the fall.

im a sophomore in high school and i have NYU in mind for Film. any tips? i have yet to actually film something, but i have loads of screenplays.

I remember being in your position. Any advice I give is basically based on my own regrets.

1. Start making films. Don't waste any time.

2. When making your application film, make the film that you want to make, not the film that you expect NYU will want to see.

3. Apply to USC as well.

Well I got into USC but not NYU, but I know lots of people who do just the opposite. There's really no way to know, so be sure to apply to both.
