  • awesome review keep up the good work seb

  • nice review seb. i have this game on the genesis (or megadrive).

  • @Frankkaiba Thanks! The MD port of Micro Machines is also a great one, way more playable than on the CD-i, that's for sure!

  • Any news about the music at 7:55 ? :p

  • @Palounay The only way to capture this music is to play the game and record it via line-in. That takes quite some time. Grabbing the audio files from the disk itself is no good, for some reason you end up with fragmented tracks.

  • @HalfBlindGamer Yeah i tried to take the audio file but it's in .grn format and I can't convert it.

  • @Palounay Yes, getting wav files out of CD-i discs is a bit of a tricky process, and even then it won't work well with every game. Unfortunatly, this is one such game :(

  • Micro Machines where actually really popular in the UK, a lot of people collected them.

  • Say, now that you have (assumably) two pads, does this support two players without the splitter? Thanks! I'm looking for a cheesy, two-player cd-i game that doesn't require a splitter :P

  • @smartlamppost You know, I've never tried that I think. I'm pretty sure it does work with one player on a joypad and the other on a remote though.

  • @HalfBlindGamer Alright, thanks! I'll have to play this with someone, have them use the remote, then sit in front of the CD-I's infrared detector ;D I love cheating!

    Thanks, man!

  • Oh dear, the underpowered cd-I running a poor version of a popular game like micro machines.

  • @chumpyman Who would have thought ;)

  • Awsome review! :D Say, did grow up with the cdi?

  • @smartlamppost Sort of, I was 10 when we got one!

  • Heh, did you like it? How come you got it (out of curiosity)? Was it cause' Phil Hartman was in the commercials? That would be my reasoning to get one, if I had grown up in that time. ;D

  • @smartlamppost My father decided we wanted one after we checked it out at my uncle who got one really early. I doubt we had the same commercials too here.

  • @HalfBlindGamer Awsome

  • it ws so much better on megadrive than on nes

  • I remember when I was a child, I loved to play the game with the song at 7:55

I love this song but I think it's impossible to find it, I still have the game but you know, if everytime I want to listen to this song I have to play micro machines...^^'

  • I did start to capture the music of this game too, but I think I lost it crap. I'm pretty sure I had done at least that track, sorry. Maybe I'll do it again someday.

  • I used to love this game, I had no idea it was available on the CD-I. Which was... a horrible system.

    good review

  • when you said the game was too slow you should've put a clip of sonic's "YOUR TOO SLOW" taunt

  • Do Lemmings on CDI.

  • I put it on the list, thanks!

  • Very well Done. I really enjoyed this vdeo

  • Aw man, I had to play the new version of Micro Machines for PSP when I was working at Sony a couple years ago. Crappy racer.

  • Wow, I dont remember that game being so bad...I was also only 9. Good review.

  • Great review, do you plan to review non cdi games in the future? Either way I am happy.

  • Thanks man!

Yeah I do want to do other systems too, I've already done 2 TV games in the past as you might have seen and might do more (well the Star Wars sword game for sure at some point).

Maybe I'll do some c64 stuff but then I'd have to use an emulator since I'm not going to load games to review on cassette lol. I'd like to keep it original with platforms not done as much.

I'd also like to show what are my favorite games, old and new, but not sure if I can manage that as extra.

  • Can you do a review of Burn Cycle and Escape From Cyber City?

  • Sure thing, on the list they go :)

I won't do them to fast though since they're both pretty well known games for the CD-i and I want to spread those out a bit.

  • I remember i used to have this game for CD-I as a kid wich was some sort of crime investigation game, where you play as a detective and have to watch millions of FMV's and collect clues.

I cant remember the name of it, but maybe you know wich one im talking about?

  • The one that springs to mind right away is Voyeur, but there might be more. But in Voyeur it's your task to spy on someone in a big house and find clues by doing so. All is done with FMV's. Does that name ring a bell?

  • Yes, thats it! I remember i used to think it was boring back then, especially since i had like 5% knowledge in english back then, but it might have caught my interest today.

Ever considering doing a review of it?

  • I'll keep it in my mind, and try to review it soon. I don't remember to much specifics about the game since I sort of had the same thing back then. So I'd have to play it for a bit to really get a good idea about it. But it's added to the list!

  • Awesome! I look forward to it.

Btw.. you are doing a great job. Keep it up man.

  • howd you know i was falling a sleep cool youre s psycyc

  • Haha, lucky guess?

  • just out of curiosity, why the hell do you have so many awful cdi games?

  • Oh I have good ones too, it's just that the balance for this system is a bit off when it comes to bad vs good hehe. I did get a lot of games back when the thing was new, and some of them were bad even then (I have a few that I only played once or twice because they sucked!). Now that I started doing these vids I did grow out my collection somewhat, but that's pretty easy since they are dirt cheap here.

  • That was great !! Sorry man... had to put you through this horror. I went from playing the Megadrive version, to playing this abomination and couldn't believe what a disaster it was.

  • Hehe I never tried the MegaDrive version, but I can imagine going from any other version this one would be errr shocking!

  • once again, a quality review. You really deserve more subscribers than you have

  • Thanks man, really appriciate you saying that. Subscribers are slowly growing now, and I'm in no real rush with it. I take quality viewers over quantity ;).

  • I have this game for almost every console! Great review too! 5 stars!

  • Are you a fan of the serries? What version did you think was best, I haven't tried them all so I don't really know, but I doubt there's any version worse then this one lol.

  • probably the nes version 'cause it had more fluent controls. im not really a fan but it isn't that bad of a series.

  • Great review as always. Keep up the great work!

  • Thanks! I sure will do my best to keep it up yes :)
