  • Nice catch at 3:24. ;)

  • so, clip=visible tangible bullets, magazine=can't touch this.

  • Well that was one of the best efforts I've ever seen. Sadly...hell will freeze over before the 2 terms are ever used properly despite this valiant effort. Good job though. LOL

  • I think best way to remember is that a rifle/gun magazine is truly a "magazine" in the original, Arabic meaning of the word, "makhzan" (singular) or "makhazin" (plural) = "storehouse(s)"; a "clip" is a clip which holds items together (in this case, bullets) , just like a paper clip holds papers. I guess the point is that soldiers need an efficient way to reload their assault rifles, especially when doing so under fire!

  • Man does it bug me when someone says clip, mag, same thing. THEY ARE NOT. Thank you sir.

  • I already knew the difference but I get a huge kick out of the reactions in the comments.

  • clips are the same thing as magazines

  • @styxbro no they are not you cant stick a clip in a gun

  • @shadowice800 What about the M1 Garand? You do stick the clip in the gun.

  • @ASHMarine616 yeah i know m1 garand

kar98kstuff like that you do but not like ak47 and pistols

  • @ASHMarine616 In the magazine...a "gun" is a crew served weapon or artillary piece

  • @LoneWolf051 THANKS! I think, then, I should have written, "...rifle/pistol...," NOT "...rifle/gun..."

  • @styxbro pot stirrer haha

  • at the end i was waiting for him to point at the m1 and say magazine...

  • Nice catch with the m1 garand!

  • oh yeah thanks for making this video know i can teach those ignorant cod players

  • what kind of sight was that for the ar-15 sir

  • @ReaperMG100 thats an Eotech holo sight.

  • So what is a mag and what is a clip? Mag = M4A1 and clip = M1 Garand?

  • @StormHawkAerrow No, the magazine is the thing that holds the round in the gun before it enters the chamber. The clip is the thing that is used to put the rounds into the magazine.

  • @atomsmasher101

Lol the video just explained it and people still need explanations?

  • The stripper clip is part of a porn magazine.lolol ^O^

  • The clip's called stripper clip? O_o

  • i like the shotgun is siiiiiiiiiiiiiick

  • sick!!! cooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooolllllllllll

  • YES NOW PEOPLE CAN SHUT UP IT REALLY PISSES ME OF WHEN THE CALL A MAG A CLIP

  • Thank you for explaining. Next you should do the difference between a bullet and a round of ammunition.

  • I blame Call of Duty for gun illiteracy.

  • who cares

  • @AirVengeance318 the retards who think its a clip

  • @AirVengeance318 Then don't watch it retard ain't that a problem sisi?

  • so....a clip feeds ammo into a magazine, which intern feeds ammo into a gun's chamber....... mmmmm k

  • @qundertowp no, a clip is used to fill a magazine. The magazine then contains the ammunition. The magazine is placed into the magazine well of a weapon and is held in place by the magazine latch or catch. Then the following 8 steps happen in order; 1. Feeding 2. Chambering 3. Locking 4. Firing 5. Unlocking 6. Extracting 7. Ejecting 8. Cocking

That is basic operation for all semi-auto/auto weapons.

  • @PrkchpsNaplsaws no u fucktard there is a difference obviously you did not watch the video

  • 3:27 Nice catch!

  • only fags get pissy over the usage of these two words. Semantics are for snobs. Bandaid vs bandage. Grow up.

  • @PrkchpsNaplsaws a Band-Aid is a brand of bandages jackass. Only fag like you gets pissy about anyone actually naming the correct terminology for the items that are discussed. I am sure you will pitch a fit if someone described the differences of firearms. Gun, musket, smooth bore, rifle, pistol, revolver, semi-auto, auto, Single Action, Dual Action, closed bolt, open bolt, cannon, howitzer, mortar, and lastly cap and ball.

  • 3:23 nice catch

  • Finally , I hate it when people call em clips...Im like theres a difference and they're like its a nick name and i say no its a term , lol but these needs more views.

  • Live rounds? If so...0.0

  • Fuck i hate playing First Person Shooters where kids say Clips

  • nice

  • thx thx

  • 3:22 Liked it.

  • When talking about the capacity of the weapon, would you say "clip size" or would you say "magazine size?"

  • @iamsmert123 Depends on the weapon - use what is appropriate to the gun.

  • i hate people the call magazines clips, thank you sir for showing the world correct gun terms :D *gives a cookie*

  • I'm going to add this to my instructional channel too! Good video and it's long over due.

  • AR15 should go for Assault rifle 15# am i right? So AR15 could be M4A1 5.56 Nato?

  • @GohpNichk

no. the A in AR15 stands for Armalite. the R stands for Rifle. and 15 is just the model number.

  • What gun is it at 3:28? Is that a Gewehr 43 or 96?

  • @GohpNichk No, that is an SKS.

  • Great video. Very well explained without dumbing it down. I'm going to have to share this with people I see who get those terms wrong.

  • id say the m1 garand uses magazines because the cartridges are always in the "Clip" put into the magazine compartment.

  • @thelonewolf9603

A magazine statically holds the ammunition. The M1 En Bloc Clips are still just clips because they do not aide the rifle in feeding beyond just holding the rounds in place. A true magazine physically aides in feeding ammunition.

  • lol striper clip

  • Now those stupid kids with nerf gun need a brain

  • Sir I hope you dint mind, But I would like to use this, to end some arguments here on YT. I play air soft and there are reviews of weapons where the person doing the review says "Load the clip from the bottom" or they'll point the the Mag release and call it the "Clip release" so this will clear it all up.

  • @donlentz83 this is big boy stuff not stupid toy gun stuff. never use airsoft as a reference. especially saying you are reading a poorly translated japanese manual.

  • FINALLY somone who explains the diffrence!

  • @gunnut8 finaly someone who knows the difference!

  • lever action rifles also have tube magazines

  • @123456deathnote and most shotguns

  • very good vid....i know if your anything like me you must of been biting your tounge making this vid cuz i get really annoyed when people misuse the word clip...its just a pet peeve of mine

  • "Clip" is commonly used vernacular for magazine. It may not be technically correct, but it is widely understood. I say both, or also 'mag,' but when writing I use the word 'magazine.'

  • 2:17 missing textures

  • i almost think that "clip" is slang for magezine. Thats all there is to it.

  • i call my magazines Jane and Kim and my pistol's name is Charlene :)

  • What about P90 magazine and reloading of it ? Can I use P90 clip for P90 magazine reloading ? Does each magazine have own clip ? Btw: I like your video

  • I wish rifles and pistols were legal in the UK.

They should have a psychological test to deem whether it is safe for you to have a firearm.

So psychopaths won't get them, bipolar sufferers won't get them and revolutionaries won't get them. Oh, and police officers.

  • More Call of Duty's who have yet to do their research need to see this video.

  • @LakanLode Too right mate :o)

  • nice vid.

    well informative,

    good stuff

  • do you feel safe with 2 rounds of ammo pointing at you 0_0

  • SO I USE A CLIP IN MY DEAGLE BRAND DEAGLE YEAH?

  • @MooffinMan deagles use magazines

  • Nice AR stock.

  • welcome to what /k/ discusses all day.

  • try saying this to the call of duty fags

  • THANK YOU ITS MAGAZINE NOT CLIP

  • @joc69uk Theres "cartridge belts", and "bandoliers" that hold clips.

  • THANK YOU for posting this. I can't tell you how many guys I've seen saying clip and mag in the wrong places. I'll be sure to link them to this video for now on.

  • is that the new trigger safty for glocks

  • 3:20 awesome catch!!

  • Comment removed

  • God I feel stupid! I thought clips were for pistols. HAHA!

  • Come on, who cares what they are called?

I call mine the DEATH KEEPERS!

  • @platinumcigarman People care what they are called because they're TWO DISTINCTLY DIFFERENT ITEMS WITH DIFFERENT FUNCTIONS! How do you not see that from this extremely clear video that shows the difference in function.

  • @FirearmsGuyAZ

Dude it was a joke. There are many more problems in the world then what someone calls CARTRIDGE!

  • @platinumcigarman

How are the other problems in the world relevant to this discussion though, is what I am wondering. I don't care if there are tidal waves everywhere. Clip is not a magazine, bullet is not a round, don't call your rifle a gun, and liberals still suck.

  • You sir, are a true gun nut.

  • @TheSoperify Thank you

  • @DVDTracker If only this was aired 24/7 at every gun range in the US...

  • thanks for the info, honestly i never knew the difference

  • but I saw that video on MTV and that rap star said his Glock had a clip, surely he knows better than you. hehe.. Joking.

  • This is by far...by FAR...the best explanation of what the difference is between a clip and a magazine.

    Great job.

  • lol when that pistol came out i was like... oh shoot dont kill me lol

  • it nice to see someone teaching people the difference. i hear that a lot on games n stuff. people like i used a full clip. no mate you used a full magazine lol

  • wait just to make sure a clip is just a metal piece that holds bullets with no spring to feed in the chamber?

  • i really would lol if he said:''clip,magazine,clip,m1 garand''

    XD

  • thanks i have been thinking what is the difference between clip and magazine

  • great explanation! I spend so much time trying to illustrate this point to my students and low and behold, most of them still use the terms interchangeably. I will have to direct them to watch this for a better understanding. than I must have been giving them. M1 is a nice touch to explain internal non-tubular magazines!

    Thanks!

  • i cant stress how bad i hate idiots who call magazines clips. (ya listening snoop dog?)

  • i dont know hwy but i like the sound when the clip comes out of the m1 garand

  • does these mean they have ppl who jus put bullets in clips all day?

  • 5:18 what is the name for that gun?

  • @octorock888 mossberg 500 shotgun.

  • this video helped me understand what a clip and a magazine are.

  • Or you hear people say "Ah yo nigga I put a clip in yo bitch ass!"

  • @nonamre that is certainly uncomfortable but not deadly

  • why the hell does it matter

  • @ donoventhecrazy

It matters because there is no excuse for being an ignorant dumb fuck. A magazine is a magazine, a clip is a clip. Is it because magazine is too long a word to say?

What I don't get are the people that say that 'clip' is just a faster word to say even though it is wrong when they could just say the three letter word 'mag'.

  • this video should be listed as "required viewing" for everyone when they buy their first firearm.

  • graet vid helped me learn

  • is the garand pronounced grand or gArand

  • @powner552 It's GARE-uhnd. The guy in the video pronounced it wrong (like most people do, even though it's incorrect).

  • oh ok but ill probably call it grand any way but thank you

  • then ur a dumb ass bitch

  • @XBalmoX because of my opinion? wow u cant change my mind anyway

  • its not an opinion u idiot it means ur stupid. i think that ur just to stupid to understand the difference between a clip and a magazine. You're such a fucking dumb ass if u say clip. If your smart you would say magazine. can u say the word? M A G A Z I N E Y O U S T U P I D A S S . and whos they? its god who says magazine u stupid ass what now u dont believen god? U BASTARD

  • Great video for beginners ! 5 stars * * * * *

  • nice catch on the garand

  • is that the new trigger design for glock pistols

  • cool video

  • Good video !

  • cool

  • Great video. Thanks.

  • NIce this is wery useful =D I also called magazine for pistol a "clip"

Only thing how should I call that "drum" =) on revolver ? I guess magazine...but im not sure, because it has no clip and even though you can load rounds in it =D so if anyone knows just reply please =D

  • @DanielTejnicky

The "drum" of a revolver is simply referred to as a cylinder.

  • wats the point of a clip if you have to load the clip, i could understand if you bought your ammo on a clip or sumthin, is it for like if you were in combat you could reload your mag easier?

  • You load clips for the same reason that you have clips or magazines in the first place: so that ammunition is ready for use as quickly and conveniently as possible.

Many weapons with magazines do not have detachable magazines, like the Garand and SKS shown, and therefore must be loaded with clips. Other weapons with magazines can only be hand loaded, like lever action rifles, shotguns, etc.

  • 3:22-3:26 Ear Orgasm

  • OMG when ever you finish your sentance you are like TUT TUT TUT gosh .. ~.~`

  • 3:22 - 3:26 was pure win.

  • lmfao YES

  • Oh dude I know, I saw him unload and catch the damn clip. Mind was blown.

  • this is useful to know i had no idea that detachable magazines also had stripper clips. one reason most people say "clip" instead of "magazine" is more than likely because of "clip" being shorter to pronounce than "magazine" unless you "mags" that could work but i am afraid "clip" is more popular.

  • Nice reaction time with that ejected clip.

  • I always found loading and unloading a weapon peaceful. used to do it for hours with my friend's pistol.

Though he used to get narky coz he was convinced I'd end up accidently shooting myself. I never fired a shot off-range.

  • Nice catch with the M1 Garand clip...

  • lol u could hace some 1s eye out with that thing lol and y dont they make all guns fed by the clip that in the m1garand

  • @emtffzartman yeah, loved it.

  • thats good stuff to learn but even with this vid people will still say "weres my cilp?" and other things like that

  • i got a question i thought that the clips for the m1-garand we called bandellers ?

  • Bandoliers are pockets to store ammo.

  • @JohnTraviss

Finally someone who doesn't think it's a perk...

  • @JohnTraviss I thought the bandoliers are the long chains of ammo that you see strapped over soldiers' shoulders.

  • No. A bandoleer is like an ammo belt. Basically a bag to store ammo in, though can be better designed than that sounds.

  • Weapons

  • lol nice catch on the m1 garand clip

i always get so annoyed when my friends say "hey weres the clip for my gun" and its a ar mag

its so funny how so many people say clip

  • thats my query sorted

  • Great video, 5 stars. BTW, has anyone ever said you sound like Ray Romano :)

  • i actually thought befoe that a magazine was a bullet silly me lol

  • heh I was thinking the same thing.

  • He did pronounce Garand correctly, you must be the one that is getting it wrong

  • This is a nice video for gun newbies -- I'm glad I took a look.

As for the movies and their misunderstanding of the proper terms, I think they just say "clip" because it's monosyllabic and thus easier to say than magazine.

  • they can always use lines like" i need a mag" or "changing mag" you know

  • or it's just a more common term

  • now when u took the magazine out of the glock 23 did u push a button or just take out the magazine

  • he pushed a button.

Do Glocks have a slide release button? I noticed that he pulled the slide back instead but the button seems like a pretty standard feature on most guns now.

  • Great Video! and perfectly executed too!

  • i jerked off to this vid

  • i call stripper clips charger mags

  • You're so cool...

  • Thank you! :D

  • im digging the EOTech sight on that AR-15

  • bravo

  • Thanks for this video, I use it to put my kids to sleep. Better than the golf channel.

  • Finally a video with the correct terminology!

  • Good and to the point video...good for gun safety.

  • THANK GOD. I think all firearm noobs should be FORCED to watch this. Amen for correct terminology.

  • true dat man

  • you should have also talked about moon clips

  • important. im thinkin about designing a revolver for 7.62 NATO and the moon clip would be kinda important seeing that the round is rimless and such

  • It seems that a gun like that would snap your wrist off!

  • yeah grips and removable stocks would help. it would be for hunting maybe
