When you don't feel like anybody loves you or needs you anymore, you get pets so that when times are rough you have to stick around because they need you.

But in the long run, splitting up is always for the better in relationships like this and I do truly believe she was a victim of circumstance and not completely mentally competant. I believe if she were a stronger person and wasn't sucked into the notion she was worthless, or if her kids were still younger, she probably would have left.

@DeanMartin1231 Way I see it he is at fault because he won't do the appropriate thing. It's HIS house. In HIS name. He can legally remove every filthy animal and have them put down at the pound. I removed my exwifes dog from my condo and put it up for adoption. It triggered a two year court battle but it saved alot of yelling and ended it quickly rather than drag it out.

Women who are with abusive men (verbal or physical) are very un-likely to leave because the man they're with has done a job of making them feel like they're worthless, un-attractive, un-intellegent, and that nobody else would ever want them, so they end up staying in abusive relationships because they operate under the dilusion that it's better than being alone, better for the kids, and that nobody else will want them
