As a follow up, I found a company I just found that says the mechanical latch is intergral to the arm so if there was a hydraulic breach, the door would not fall. Did you just a compnay like this?
While I appreciate the innovated use of hydraulics, I have some safety concerns. Is there a mechancial safety system in the event of hydraulic breach? I didn't see or hear a pawl style safety latch system. If you had a catastrophic hydraulic failure and the door fell without a safety latch system, injury or death would be the result for anyone under the door. The second concern is the postion and funtionality of the piston assembly--it appears to have unacceptable stress points. PE sign off?
I am gathering info on building a door very similar to yours. What size of aluminum did you use? What size hydraulic pump and cylinders did you use?

@JamesGlassProperties Not a requirement. Excavator booms don't have them either. Just let em fall
