Getting older just means the potemtial time he has to explain it to them is getting less by the day. I seriously doubt the technology has surpassed him. I think it's the opposite. Far too many people having a basic understanding rather than a few being extremely knowledgeable and therefore useful. I can understand why he's angry a lot of the time.
