  • He sings like a bass. But the color is baritoneal.

The high notes are those of a baritone.

So, probably, he is a bass-baritones or basso-cantante.

But he is a great singer. With musicality and taste.

And, compared with the great basses, well...

  • This video was taken in 2001! Anyone who knows anything about singing knows that the bass voice is one of the slowest to mature. In 2001 Anastassov was 26 or 27! Most people haven't even graduated music college at that age. Leave the man alone - his lower notes will come, he does have the timbre of a bass and is a glimmer of hope in a world of opera where there are so few voices of this quality to be found nowadays!

  • Why do doesn´t make the colorature in the end? Is he afraid of an low F?

  • Grande!

  • Great performance!

    Bravo

  • BRAVA!

  • BRAVA!

  • i like his voice

  • I agree!

He worked with us in Geneva..

    Hmmmmm In my humble opinion.

His voice too over coloured. He's trying to make up for what is a bass-baritone voice by over colouring and vocal tricks and strange vowels!

All that gives his singing a wobbly unsure sound and a kind of carcking quality which isn't great.

  • @tubalooney I think your tag says it all, "Looney". this guy has a great voice. He may be a bass baritone, but don't dis him. You probably have a lot to learn about singing.

  • I've been singing professionally for over twenty years and have sung at Covent Garden, ENO, Opera de Lyon, Aix en Provence Festival, Scottish Opera and currently I'm fest at the Grand Theatre de Geneve to name a few of the places I've worked. I agree I will always be learning something about singing but I have heard this bass(sic) live on stage next to him, in the auditorium and in the wings. His Fiesco was

lamentable in Geneva. After 6 weeks of rehearsals I got to know his voice very well

  • this is a fantastic singer with overwelming stage presence, but he is a very light bass, I dont think that Procida is the type of roles for him!

  • A nice voice, but he left out the written cadenza at the end. Where's the low F??

  • If you've heard his low notes, you'd know why the cadenza is cut.

  • Yes, and, in any case, it's Verdi himself who wrote the two options. So, as a matter of fact, there is no real cut.

  • @Gabba02 If he doesn't have the low notes, he shouldn't sing this. There are other things more suited to his voice.

  • @bcggx2 BECAUSE HE IS - MORE LIKELY BARITONO, THEN BASSO .

  • His voice is Fantastic!

  • AWESOME!!!
