this reminds me of this time that life was so rough (no money and life lessons) but this song always playing in the back-and through that darkness there was beauty.
molina is fantastic! haunting and deeply personal. A prolific lyricist and profound song writer. I just wish he would come to chicago sometime soon. This video captures that disdainful indifference in Jason's voice.
also, terr0rkitten. your videos are fantastic. huge fan!
I love Neil Young and I love Songs:Ohia, Magnolia Electric Co. There is something distinctly original in the latter band and it feels strange to group them together for that reason.
the DVD is one of the most meditatively beautiful little docs that I've seen. the framing is really terrific, the unhurried pace, ambient tone created - -- -all terrific. They stayed mostly away from lip synch and from featuring Jason - mostly focusing on mood. Great little doc.

Jason Molina is the rightful heir to Neil Young's legacy.
If you disagree, find me a better candidate... I'm waiting.

Beautifully put, I'd say.
And I might even boldly add that the personal touch Molina puts into his work makes it somehow more genuine than young's
But that's just a reflection of my admiration for Molina's work.

I'll agree, but put a condition on it. Neil Young's not done yet :D

@BPL1980
i always thought Molina was a superb unknown songwriter, and never made the Neil Young connection. great comparison.

@BPL1980 I don't see why Jason Molina can't just be Jason Molina, instead of being someone else's successor.

They did a split EP together (when Magnolia was Songs:Ohia). Bonnie 'Prince' Billy was on it too.
