  • You don't have to buy the rear wiper from Toyota. You can buy it at a auto shop.

  • Thank you for posting this!

  • Thank you, you remain to be the only person explaining this too... I guess I be ordering my blade online rather than at an auto store... Stupid...

  • Thanks for posting i have the same scion xb i picked my blade up today after work havent changed it yet and its also a special order blade so u would have to wait the two day period

  • Thank you for posting this video! I was having fits trying to change the rear blade on my wifes Rav4, and it seemed like I couldn't even get an answer online. Thanks!

  • I want to thank you for making this video. It is very helpful. I was so frustrated about changing the wiper until I saw your video. I have a Scion xD 2009.

  • Just wanted to add thanks to the many. Do more.

  • This video really works and saves you from breaking your wife's car. Thanks.

  • YOU ARE VERY WELCOME ALL I ACTUALLY POSTED IT ON MY EXS WIFES YOUTUBE ACCOUNT AND KEY WORD, EX AND SHE HAS SINCE CHANGED THE INFO ON THE ACCOUNT SO SORRY BUT GLAD EVERYONE FOUND IT HELPFUL! :)

  • Buy part # 85214-AE020 REFILL WIPER @$6.95 CDN. Slide the old rubber blade with its two small stainless steel springs out the end of the unit. Put the new one back in with the springs in their grooves. Wet the new blade with a little soap or saliva to help it slide. Cut off the extra. Reassemble. Ten minutes, max.

  • This video is a perfect example of what is great about the web. Thanks so much for taking the time to shoot this, you have improved the lives of 1,000s I'm sure.

  • Thanks! The 1st tip was all I needed. Works like a charm for 2007 Prius rear wiper, also.

  • Thanks a lot, and Boomer Sooner!

  • You saved me from breaking my car! Thanks a million for posting this!

  • ive changed many a wiper blade but my wifes 07 Rav 4 rear blade made me scratch my head...i am very glad you made this video...like others, once i knew what was going on i was able to change within seconds...i also was able to use the AR12A anco blade with no problems...my setup looked just like yours. Regardless, many thanks for the post

  • the same for 2009 rav4, video helped alot, made a long job very simple, and i didn't break anything. oh and autozone sell a replacment type 12-a in trio brand.

  • You know its funny I was looking for a video on how to change my wipers on MY 08 scion xb and I am from Norman, Ok. Home of the Sooners. my scion is the same maroon color

  • Thanks, man!

It's exactly the same on my Toyota 2009 Matrix.

  • Thanks! Watched the video and took me all of 3 seconds. Took longer to open the new wiper packaging...you rock!

  • GOD BLESS YOU!! and God damn them!! What a pain in the ass it was to even find anything on the subject. It worked beautifully. Let me know when you do a video that shows how to get the kids to leave the gas tank full!

  • Thanks for posting! Bought the Anco AR-14A at the local parts store and had no idea how to get that thing off.

  • Thanks, I'm not sure I'd have ever figured out the part about popping the latch where the blade attaches to the body! You can also just replace the wiper blades themselves ($3.38 at the dealer). They twist off easily enough, but the trick is to hang onto the two skinny metal blades that reinforce the rubber. It took me a while to get them into their little channels and then twist the new blade into place.

  • Thank you so much. You saved me time and money.

  • Thanks! :D

  • Thanks for posting this, it was really helpful.

I tried buying a blade from my Scion dealer but they were out, so I went to an O'Reilly parts store, and they had the ANCO AR-14A, which worked just fine. FWIW, I just put Bosch Icon blades on the front, and I REALLY like them (much better than the factory blades). Too bad Bosch doesn't make a rear blade.

  • Cool! It works for the forward blade assembly as well

  • Fantastic piece of cake once someone shows you the trick. Thank you so much

  • Thank you, Napa, here in Canada had exact replacement.. Napa brand.

  • Thank you SO MUCH for posting this. It is a great help.

  • i thank you & my xb thanks you

  • Thank you for posting this video, it helped me alot today.

  • thanks mate you just saved me a lot of time. was at advance auto parts for an hour with the guy trying to put it on even he couldn't figure it out. retarded design

  • THANK YOU!!! Found the blade at local auto parts store. (ANCO AR-14A 350mm) The guy who sold it to me couldn't put it on, either. Took less than 5 minutes!! Saved a trip to the dealership and another fee!!!

  • Thanks this helps a lot!

  • THANK you for this video. I picked up an exact replacement blade from O'Reilly's for $9.99. The part number is ANCO AR-14A. It is an EXACT replacement for the 2008 xB rear wiper blade. Thanks Malaweys

  • Thank you so much for this video- what a life saver!!

  • Hey man thank you so much for this video! It was really helpful. I just saw that my rear blade needs to be replaced and you just saved me a ton of agrevation and money!

  • Thanks .. this will help...

  • This is basically the same way on my wife's 2001 Rav4. Thanks for the video.

  • Too late on "dont break your car", I bought dealer replacements for my 05 xA (have NEVER needed to replace my rear blade until now) and my wife's 08 xD since hers was basically in pieces. Could NOT figure out how to rotate the arm out and ended up snapping off the end of the arm on my car (at least I tried mine first, not hers! ;)) Some gorilla glue and it should be back on - but I wish I saw this first.

  • Thanks for the video. Advance Auto had this blade in stock. It's easier to pry it from the other side of the plastic thingy and it comes right off. Done in 30 seconds.

  • Thank you Thank you!! It worked perfectly on my Scion!

  • Thanks for making this video! I took my Matrix in for service and they did not replace the rear wiper blade as I had hoped (they did do the two frnot blades). Ended up ordering the insert myself but, like you, could not find any good instructions how to replace it.

  • Thanks, I changed it out in less than 15 seconds, thanks to your video.

I also saved the old arm, and will get a replacement blade to put into the old arm, for a quick, and cheap replacement next time

  • wat happens if they discontinue the car then ur really screwed and no wiper blade

  • I found a refill blade en AUTO ZONE STORE the part number is "Anco/Wiper Refill Rear N12R" Just $4.99. And is very easy to install, hope this information can be usefull.

  • Thanks so much for posting this-glad I found it on my interwebz searching. And perfectly summed up with "how freaking stupid coud Scion be?" At least it looks easier than changing the headlamp on my old 83 Mustang.

  • Hey Thanks for the awesome video!!!

Yes, You can buy a replacement blade. I got one from NAPA Auto Parts it's the 60-014-A.

  • Hahah I like how you narrate the video. I got a scion tc and when I got the free recall on air bags, they wound up charging me like $300 for other BS. Never go to dealership.

  • Thank you so much! This also works for the 2004 Toyota Sienna rear blade. Your video saved me a lot of frustration as well as a charge from the dealer.

  • Is this still necessary? Or has another manufacturer came up with a suitable replacement?

  • Thank you for this ! I was going crazy trying to figure this out on my wife's '04 RX330. The protective cap on her's just pulled straight up and off, not swilved, but the blade assembly is identical. And thanks to your posted link .

  • You are the king man. You should be paid royalty of some sort by Scion for giving instructions like these. After about 2 hours of research in the manual. online, I stumbled upon your note in the clubxb forum

  • Getting this done has been killing me. Thanks for the video. Kinda crappy about the dealer only blade, some blades have a kit of parts to help it fit...any luck with those?

  • I have a solution to the whole thing just take it off it is the most useless part of the entire box

  • I agree that it is useless but perhaps it is useful in a climate with lots of rain?

  • i agree to not to agree I live where there is a lot of precip but even when I had it, the arm didnt create enough pressure to even do its job. Have you figured something out that would increase that?

  • Oh no, I certainly haven't figured out any way to make it any more effective.

I plan on removing mine at some time when I can afford to replace my headunit to something that can display video and when I can afford to buy a camera to fill the hole left behind after removing the wiper.

So... probably not happening actually :)
