  • Hmmm. Maybe a training ball will be easyer than masking the entire room with cloth and madresses. ;-)

  • Comment removed

  • i know that it might be an old video of you but i have my question

many player like earl strickland i think jumps the cue ball with a full cue show us how

  • dude i just cant do it why not man.

  • Thank you!

  • ty i know now hahahahaha yeeeeeeeeeee

  • why there is no demo?

  • hey, what kind of cue is that at 2:40? do you know the make and model?

  • great video! you have a real knack of explaining this trick. one thing i would like to see is the proper stance one would have to use in certain shots like these. thanks!

  • @bogard84 lower your head closer to your bridge. That gives your back hand more room to stroke. IMO that's the most important difference in stance other than the elevated cue.

  • thanks

  • Your videos are the best. However, in this one, you manage to leave out the right hand, from the wrist up, in every single shot. It doesn't show the wrist action--and for the less experienced, even the the position of the hand, in terms of dart-style or salt-shaker style positioning.

  • good vid but wtf is that guy wearing ??? LOL!!!

  • lol i ment thumbs up xD

  • Wow really good video 5 stars

  • Great video! Very nice to see you talking to the camera and not the table. Makes a real difference.

    Thanks for all your videos.

  • been working on this for about 10 years now and have only been able to jump it 2 or three times, just find it so hard on bar room coin tables

  • Went out yesterday and got to practice this a little bit at the end of my session. I was lifting the cue of the table on most every attempt, thanks!

  • Hey what if i am still not able to get the cue ball off of the table? what am i doing wrong?

  • Chalk??

  • i stil have a problem jumping, any tips? i cant get the ball to get off the cloth

  • @aznelf13 ..... its really simple, use a jump cue (using a normal cue is hard to do the shot with), and hold it at the angle he shows u, and stab down into the cueball firmly. and it should jump..

  • @aznelf13 are you even using a jump cue ?

  • @doughnutplate way to respond to a 2 and a half year comment lol

  • urcal

  • when i first tried this I tried scooping it up as if I were using a lacrosse stick. Hit friend in the eye :(

  • @SteezySkater72 epic!

  • friend me

  • there is no such rule as to the elevation of the cue for a jump. the only thing mentioned is that you cannot "dig" under the ball but must hit on top of the cue ball.

  • @mattreeves437. That's what he's trying to say with the comment about elevation. Without the 45* elevation the only way to jump the ball would be to hit under the ball which would be illegal.

  • Thats not accurate though. I loved the video and he is very knolegeable don't get me wrong; but it is very possible depending on the circumstances to just a ball at as low as 25*. A good book to look into this is Byrne's Complete Book of Pool Shots

  • all your videos are very helpful. thanks!! :)

  • Thanks for the kind words, tell your friends about the videos.

  • I myself cant handle the jumpshot as acuerate and secure with the open bridge. Its just easier with the "masse shot" closed bridge to me :D

  • I'd add a great way to start is just by jumping the cue ball over a quarter, then add a couple of quarters, etc. Eventually work your way up to a piece of chalk and after awhile, and of couse try it at a bar first, you'll work your way up to a whole ball.

  • i suggest curve, it looks cooler :D

  • All your videos are very good man. 5 stars for every one from me. One question though, where did you get that glove from and how much for?

    Thankyou.

  • do you have any video's on patterns?

  • Thank you very much.

  • that video really helped me i will be checking out your website for sure thanks forcefollow

  • thanks dude your videos help alot for a novice like me. im trying to get a leg up on my friends at the pool hall.

  • Nice video instruction/explanation. I might have to embed this on my website. Thanks!

  • Feel free to do so.

  • The jump is like a basketball on the ground and hitting it to make it start bouncing? Except the cueball doesn't compress like the basketball. but, the cloth is doing that part?

I kinda thought it was "Pinching", like pinching a Cherry Seed between your 2 fingers till it "Squirts out".

    Just wondering....

  • Great guide as always. Should also explain the physics/how it works, too.

  • a friend for your video is very interesting but I would like you please translate to better understand I speak Spanish do not know if this will be good English. but I hope that you get a translator in Spanish

  • thanks for the videos these have really help me play my pool better

  • Very informative, thank you!

One question - why are scoop shots illegal? I presume it's because it can damage the cloth?

  • I believe it is because a double hit occurs. The tip & the ferrule come in contact with the ball. Only the tip may contact the cue ball.
