  • Maurice taught him? He's gonna have a mountain to climb to over take him RIP 

  • DEMON!

  • Breath control is not great

  • @kevinmorgan2100 Your mouth control is not good. You should keep it closed.

  • @anrapa Thank you for your professional reply, however when one IS a professional performer (or teacher) ONE is expected to accept criticism.

  • Wonderful Trumpet performance, and memorization as well. I noticed he is the only one without music. (Unless I overlooked it.)

  • @fdrcompany Check again he does have a music stand

  • @kevinmorgan2100 Not with him

  • How does he sound so good is it air, the trumpet what is the secret

Entiendes?

  • amazing...!!!!

  • Fantastic playing but the ornamentation's got a bit tiring after a while. There really isn't much reason for them outside maybe the first variation. Nice job!

  • people who are amazing at something make it look so easy..... he is obviously AMAZING!!! -__-

  • Beautiful... But y hold it sidways

  • He's playing it so effortlessly! D:

  • haha, special cadenza XD

  • você é tão incrível

  • you are my favourite trumpet player , and i think this is one of the best variant of "carnival" . Thank you to post this video , and succes...

  • He is a kid, don't expect emotion from him. He seems like a humble guy, and will surely get better with a right attitude.

  • I would like to know what he practices for endurance...that's my biggest problem

  • makina!!

  • He couldn't hit that double F as a kid

  • Guys serious, when you hear someone play as good as rubén does then you don't need to look at him. Just close you eyes and enjoy the music.

The way he looks this way is probably because he is totally relaxed while playing.

The technique he has is really amazing and he has a pure tone...

    Just enjoy and stop complaining;)

To add to that, check out Sergei Nakariakov he doesn't show emotion aswell.....

Another proof of not having to laugh to be succesfull

  • @rhoogma

    you're right.

anyhow theres a difference... sergei emotes in playing, ruben doesn't

  • 3:57 First chair clarinet lol :p

  • He plays like me. He twists his head to the side and puts the trumpet the other way. Lol

  • i heard him.. but then i heard the trumpets in the orchestra.. WOW they all have a gorgeous tone

  • he's like Sergei!

  • Dodoman his tone is great.....

  • He definitely got laid after this

  • it's kinda annoying- stop with the ornamentations and get a better tone!

  • He plays brilliantly, fine!

But, he looks like a tape-recorder. He doesn't even move. He only lifts his fingers up and down.

There is no connection with the audience!

Not even for a moment he enjoyed playing this wonderful piece!

    bravo Ruben!!

  • I don't look happy when I play marimba but I still love it, maybe we just need to see him after he stops playing

  • No me cansare de escuchar esta cancion !! :)

  • It isn't necessary for a musician to grimace and contort his/her face as they play. Look at Maurice Andre and Tine Thing Helseth. They also play in a detached manner but are virtuosos nonetheless. If this fellow wasn't happy about playing the trumpet he'd have never put in the hours required to reach this level.

  • I envy his talent but it seems like he's not happy with his abilities.

  • muy bien,bravo¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • they all are asian...

  • @manpack12 And?

  • Sergei's is still cleaner and better. People said he wold be better than him...Nay.

  • the sax on the end at 2:27 shows more emotion than ruben does at any given point in the song...sad

  • i dont know about you guys, but the oboe lady at around 4:10 was my favorite part

  • @FenceHorse false. She's a clarinetist. The Oboes are on the other side with bassoons.

  • rafael mendez minus the passion

  • his posture is really bad, and he should be more expressive. people dont wanna see a guy playing his trumpet to the ground and looking half asleep.

  • @911Pauline ha i pretty sure hes better than youll ever be! so id go S a D

  • @bwvbach your a fucktard. stop sleeping in ur mommas bed.

  • @911Pauline yo! calm down calm down! id be mad to if i wasn't talented at anything.... i just wanna let u know it's ok!

  • felicitaciones!!!!!!!!!!

  • te felicito. AHORA TE INVITO A VER AL TROMPETISTA PERUANO DE 14 AÑOS.

ELMER CHURAMPI TAMBIEN EN YOU TUBE GRACIAS

  • te felicito. AHORA TE INVITO A VER AL TROMPETISTA PERUANO DE 14 AÑOS.

ELMER CHURAMPI TAMBIEN EN YOU TUBE GRACIAS

  • He's rushing. And I agree with a lot of people here, he's showing no emotion, which really can affect his overall performance.

  • I believe the comments of the picky detractors would be MUCH more credible if they posted their own video on YouTube, playing this same piece. Otherwise they are just spewing hollow, worthless rhetoric.

  • ESTE TIO ES INCREIBLE!!

  • Yeah it's a little uninspired. I like the way he wipes the mouthpiece on his shirt around 520. But all in all, a pretty good performance.

  • @Nabokov50 But not flawless, and the final cadenza is a copy of Marsalis note for note.

  • Muito bonito....

  • i think he doesn´t "live" the music...It looks like he has to play the trumpet...

  • he copied the end part out of wynon marsalis's version of the end

  • @SUPERasianNINJAsquad Correct, well spotted

  • what brand of mouthpiece and use as

  • There is no reason for him to play it this fast.

A slower tempo would make it a lot more lyrical.

  • completely incredible 6 people dont have ears

  • completely incredible

  • he looks like he isnt even trying

  • The next Wynton

  • @crazyyd0g sergei nakariakov is better

  • the thing is that those who are a fake need complementary gestures and facial expressions as complement for their performance. genius never needs that

  • Comment removed

  • he doesn't look very happy... and the other player, too

    but he plays very well

  • magnificent

  • thats an oddly shaped mouthpiece

  • @wasabiman17 it might be a rudy muck

  • His parents probablty forced him thats how it is with all goo playes well not all but most of the time

  • all the people in the orchestra are asain.

  • He's a spectacular player, but it's all technique - no passion! And there's videos of him at different ages all over the web playing this same song. It's so obvious he's one these kids forced to practice for hours each day. I kind of feel bad for him...

  • @mebmk2 No, I think that's just his personality. He went on a show that's pretty much 'Something's Got Talent' and he said he wanted to play professionally. You don't have to see his passion, you can hear it.

  • @mebmk2 or maybe he doesnt like jumping around alot? and likes to be relaxed when hes playing?

  • @mebmk2 i have news for you ....no kid that doesn't want to play... goes pro at the age of 16

  • @mebmk2 And how do you know that he dosen't love the trumpet? There's no WAY a kid can be as good as Ruben is by force.

  • @mebmk2 Is it really obvious? You watch a few videos and suddenly you know there whole life story?

  • @mebmk2 ..Wrong.....there are numbers of trumpet players who display little, if any "passion". Ting Thing Helseth of Norway is one and Ronald Romm of the Canadian Brass is another. Even Maurice Andre didn't do a lot of "emoting" when he played. When a trumpeter is playing a classical piece I find it detracts from the performance if the musician is gesticulating wildly or making bizarre facial expressions. Give me the cool, calm collected performance anytime.

  • the part around 3:00 feels like he wants to swing haha

  • For tonal quality and purity of sound, this young man compares favorably to any popular trumpet player in the business today. For those who want to hear something negative about this performance all I can say is that he rushed a couple of phrases and got as much as a half beat ahead of the orchestra but I dare say that 95% of listeners could not even hear that. I am an enthusiastic fan! Bravo!

  • q chido te la rifas we pero te jorovas mucho we ya pareces el cuauuuuuu

y alsa un poco tu fierro

    pero rifado we......

  • @MegaF10 From this I got that Ruben is on crack......

  • Many are obviously not listening to the artistry in the music this young man is creating. If you passed judgment on that rather than his facial appearance and body posture, you would recognize the artful beauty that is in his heart. Those who think his expressiveness is lacking have a lot to learn about the art of music. Phil Smith has commented on the great majority who play perfectly, and yet say nothing, musically. This young man says a lot, if the listener can understand musical expression.

  • He might be a lil nervous, if he can play like that at such a young age he obviously loves the trumpet!

  • SI , necesita ser mas expresivo

  • Maybe he's not as expressive because he's spanish and they have different ways of doing things. *shurg. Who knows really.

  • He is like almost exactly like Sergey Nakariakov, with posture, style, and technique. Both of them are extremly skilled trumpet players. Its gonna be amazing to hear Rubén Simeó play in about 20 years from now.

  • @jacobflaschen that happens when an instrument kills your childhood ^^,

  • He looks bored because the piece is to easy for him.

  • It's amusing to read all the critiques from those posting on YouTube. My thought is this: When the complainers produce a video that's better than this, on the same piece and post it on YouTube...THEN they might have some credibility.

  • @SpeedyNeutrino43: There seem to be a certain percentage of people like SpeedyNeutrino43 that cannot handle anyone being critiqued. Basically, they do not seem to be able to distinguish between "critique" and "criticism". Viewers that comment on Simeo's seeming lack of emotion are merely making note of the interesting gap between Simeo's ability and his apparent lack of feeling. And, yes, Simeo and Nakariakov seem very similar in that regard. It's a paradox.

  • @windblowing Until you have heard Nakariakov live playing a piece such as the Haydn trumpet concerto or Bach mass in B minor arranged for flugelhorn, you should not claim that he plays with a lack of emotion. The reason you believe this is because the videos you see of him on youtube are all flashy pieces such as the carnival of venice with cannot be played with a deep sense of feeling as all they are a rubbish pieces to show off technique, not musicality, as this is what people want to see.

  • @obbw1985, the point of my post was to point out that there are certain personalities that are disturbed by criticism of others, regardless of whether the criticism might have merit. So, it is nor relevant whether Nakariakov lacks emotion or not.

  • @windblowing, i understood the main point of your post, however, you you did seem to agree with peoples comments that Simeo had a lack of feeling in his playing. I do not strongly disagree with that, but to say that those same qualities can be seen in Sergies playing is very wrong. I have met Alison Balsom and Haken Hadenberger aswell as Sergie, and can say his musicianship is equal to theirs easily. I think criticism is good, but it gets to a point where people are just being arrogant.

  • @obbw1985, it is still not clear we are communicating. Certainly, Narkariakov is brilliant, as is Simeo, Hardenberger, and Balsom. I am talking more about lay observations of Simeo in the Youtube comments. These usually do not even amount to negative criticisms. When a poster innocently observes that Simeo seems to lack emotion, others should not feel compelled to regard that as hateful criticism. Who knows what the apparent phlegmatism means, but many note it.

  • Whow! good job!!!!

  • he did not age well...

  • not too bad, still a few mistakes, but great job

  • For whatever reason, I get the feeling that he doesn't really like to play trumpet.

  • @jacobflaschen yeah i get that feeling too =/

  • @jacobflaschen yeah, just the look on he face and lack of posture, but well played

  • @jacobflaschen maybe he is just concentrated and so he looks like this.

he plays wonderful and very clearly :)

  • @jacobflaschen As a trumpet player who knows the piece being performed...Id beg to differ. Arban's Carnival of Venice is perhaps one of the most challenging trumpet solos (Flight of the Bumblebee might be the only one I can think of thats harder to perform) But for someone to have that degree of talent and not be passionate about playing the trumpet is unheard of.

  • @jacobflaschen no its just him trying to be as relaxed as possible while playing this

  • @jacobflaschen why? because he makes it look like he doesn't have to struggle with anything? haha

  • @jacobflaschen It could just also be the pressure that he's facing. These series of videos are the first that I saw where Simon was in Japan. Japan being a huge scene for Wind Ensembles and musicians, maybe he felt a big pressure.

But I do agree, I see no passion in his playing... But I'm at no place to criticize his playing. Especially after that ending which wis pretty on par with Wynton's.

  • por favor ruben dame tu e-mail

  • Last variation lil bit fast there dontcha think? kinda needs to be slowed down so you can enjoy the quality of the sound, it does show skill that he can play it that fast though. 5/5 and subbed awesome vid.

  • Yeah, this guy is one of the best, tell 'em littledrewboo. My respects

  • plays to fast, and in all of his videos he has bad posture.

  • as does Sergei Nakariakov

  • wow...

so much talent wasted, there is no need for him to play carnival of venice that fast.

also, he's not playing at the orchestra's tempo a lot of the time...

  • Mr.Bosnian..

    You are right..

    Lac Of tyming..^^

showing he's manner being a independent Solo Artist.. ^^

  • u do realise what u said is completly irrelevant.

he is not meant to play at the orchestra's tempo, he is the soloist and as the solosit he determines the temp and the orchestra is meant to follow him.

and in what section was it too fast, i think that was a good tempo throughout the whole piece

  • the last variation was too fast. there's no need to play it that fast.

there's is nothing musical about playing something that fast. why would you waste talent on speed?

  • amazing

  • isnt he out of time with the orchestra quite a bit?

  • its called rubato its the style, watch Wynton Marsalis play this, you'll see what Im talking about.

  • I've seen W. Marsalis' performance of this... And Marsalis does use rubato.. Simeó is out of time. Not using rubato. It's the same in some of his other performances, its like he's fighting the orchestra rather than working with it... Or rather.. it seems that he plays his music.. and the orchestra plays theres.. with no link or collaboration.

  • danielwills93= BIG BIG SHIT IN TRUMPET! JERK !! FUCK!

  • ok?

  • post a vid of you doing it better then smart ass

  • why does he look so bored during all of his music videos?

  • it's probably the 21,762nd time playing it.. lol

  • He does have a bad habit of holding is trumpet at an angle though; but then again no one is perfect and through time he's gonna really develop and be up there with the best (if he isn't already)

  • soooo jelouse of him I though i was good doing grade 8 at 14

  • the trumpet part up until 1:01 was my audition piece for GHP

  • what's GHP?
