Thanks for posting....I lost this album years ago and could not find this anywhere. I love to hear it now just as much as I did years ago ...such a simple but beautiful song.
@mbgwhcex If you're talking about the '74 MCA release, the song on Side B was 'Take Your Time', which wasn't released again until the 'Legend' album in '87. Rockin' little tune; yet another testament to how overlooked these guys were by commercial radio or any mainstream venue for that matter.
Wow....I used to listen to First and Last on tape when I was 10 or 12 (this was in the 90's lol) and this was one of my favorites. Thank you so much for this.
Yes, First And Last was a 1978 release and was later re-released as, "Skynyrd's First: The Complete Muscle Shoals Album", as First And Last had only about 8 songs, as was the standard practice before CDs. Was recorded in 1971 amd 1972 when Medlocke was in the band as a drummer & vocalist, lead vocals on The Seasons, White Dove, Ain't Too Proud To Pray and You Run Around.
OMG Finally I found this song......I tried for so long to find it. This wasn't a big hit but it was and still is one of my favorites. Thanks for posting. RIP to those who have passed. I will never forget their great music. The music lives on forever.
This is a great song, that comes and goes on youtube here(Why I dunno)..thanks so much for posting!! And damn, Rickey shoulda sang more songs..Never Disrespect to Ronnie, but he added a helluva balance..
I saw on hear that someone said this was un Skynyrd like. well all I have to say to that is ever heard of Simple Man or tuseday's gone, both very ballad like and both absolutely skynyrd. the only thing different here is Rickey's voice, and as great as Ronnie was I don't think he could have done this one justice like Rickey does.
im glad no one has disliked it i fuckin hate people that dislike a good song with a good picture fuckin ignornet humans i hate them if i ever met someone who disliked a good video on youtube or catch someone id go mad
This song has been on here before but I think removed. Anyways, thanx for the upload. The album this came off of was one of my favorites. Rare tunes on there (at the time it came out) a lot of good stuff...thanx again!
@sebastiansteele1994 He was the original drummer way back in the begining he plays free bird the original version on the boxset and a few other songs he only came back as a guitarist in the 90s
@TheSpawnofSkynyrd Well, I think what Martin is saying is that it wasn't very typical for them, and it wasn't. When this album "First and Last" came out, I remember listening at first and being disappointed as I was hoping for their typical stuff. But I was quickly glad when I listened to it after burning a fat one and then it all came together. The fact that Ronnie doesn't sing all of these songs, especially this one, makes it "un-skynyrd" like, and I think thats what Martin was saying....
@PlanTonto - Considering Rickey was in Skynyrd in the early days too, shouldn't make it "un-Skynyrd like." The song is still a very good song (which first appeared on the "Skynyrd's First - The Complete Muscle Shoals Album" cd (not First and Last)....Rossington and company made a outstanding song and Medlocke does a great job on vocals.
@TheSpawnofSkynyrd The First & Last album came out right after the plane crash. 1st album to do so. And at the time I hadn't ever heard of the Muscle Shoals album. When did it come out? Seems it had to be after First and Last. If it were before First and Last it had to come out before the plane crash. That's my memory anyway. Whatcha think?
I think some of these songs were audition cuts for Johnny Van Zandt. Ronnie was diagnosed with a serious throat disorder, and was looking to find a replacement. Johnny was the most logical choice since he sounded like Ronnie and his band Grinderswitch was not having much success.
@arthur8557 That's funny, because Johnny's band Lynyrd Skynyrd is not having much succcess either...LOL...But I like that he is determined to see it through....
Nice... VERY nice - thanx for the upload !

The flip side of Sweet Home Alabama's 45 when it came out is one of the best Skynyrd tunes in my opinion. Can anyone name that tune?
