  • This promo made me cringe...I bet most of the people in it think, "Please don't let anyone recognise me after all these years." Now thanks to You tube they are exposed again ha ha!

  • i will leave a comment later.

  • Poor David Johnston for being involved in such a shoddy promo!

  • This is from 1989.

  • Yep, what a disaster the relaunch from Ten (X) to 10 TV Australia was. Couldnt turn the TV dial quick enough. The worst - Family Double Dare!!!!!!!

  • Dont forget this fact. while the 3 core 10's and the NEW 10 in Perth used consistent ID's, TVQ in Brisbane by July 89 had used new ID's (TV0's last ID "My Town",the Brisbane Ten "Brisbane Style" launch ID's (which I don't know when they stopped using them.) the 89 "X" Ten ID and then TV Australia.) very rapidly (especially since conversion from 0 to 10 in September 1988).

  • Wow! Family Double Dare! Ahhh, the memory of seeing mums and dads crawl through slime because they threw down the 'physical challenge' gauntlet. Thanks for posting this, it was a love hate trip down memory lane.

  • Yep... think it was on Monday nights at 730 followed by the Wonder Years??

  • Most likely early Shanks as there is no 10 TV Australia logo yet the mannerisms are already there like the gold Ten logo (88 style) minus an X.

  • true this was an early part of the Shanks inspired relaunch - this ident screened in the two weeks leading up to the change of the logo to 10 TV Australia - following the prior teaser campaign which had vague promo's stating "there's something going on around here". Most of the new shows identified in this promo did not go to air until the logo changed, week beginning 23.7.1989

  • Ten have been doing the same sort of thing since May 2007. at first mentioning the words "6:30" in a prison lock style then glowing "TV-Australia" gold, then a voiceover saying "a change is coming" and finally recently using old footage with it ending in "23/7/07"

  • Channel 10 was a laughing stock at the time, shows axed and replaced with crap that rated lower, they never really recovered from this until about 2002 when they got the AFL football.

  • They are still a laughing stock!

  • Bob Shanks is to blame for trying to revive the network.
