@niknak1830 Zack is supposed to be dead or marked as KIA since he pretty much almost died after facing Sephiroth and for the next four or five years after that was subject several experiments. I assume that if people found out that Shinra had used him and Cloud in inhumane experiments Shinra would lose a lot of supporters. So Shinra opted to get rid of them or capture them if possible to hide their existence. Plus, Zack, being a powerful 1st Class SOLDIER, presented a great threat to them.

sorry but Cloud was never a soldier or an Ex-soldier he claims to be because when Zack died he said "Live for both of us" which cloud took the wrong way and mixed his memories with Zacks. the truth is Cloud would be nothing more but an infantry man still holding a gun if he never became friends with Zack and got infected for four years by Hojo's Mako poisning.

An amazing storyline with even more amazing cutscenes. Sure zack dies, but as previously stated, it's probably the most epic way to die i've ever seen. He killed all but three, so close. i beat it in two days though, very short xD
