YAZOO FANS: IT IS FINALLY GOING TO HAPPEN!

'Get Set' is finally getting an official release as it features as an exclusive bonus track on preorders for the iTunes release of 'Reconnected Live'. The previously unreleased and much sought after 'Get Set, was originally recorded in 1983 and used as the theme to the BBC Children's TV show 'Get Set For Summer'.

@producermattpop It's not quite going to happen. Yes, we are finally getting a studio version of it, but it is NOT the original mix that we're getting. Some of the sounds have been changed and it does not have anything like the energy or vibe of original version. One of the main changes is a chord type sound (seen being played on the Roland Jupiter-4 synth by Vince) and I can only guess that some sounds were not saved to tape and have been recreated. I don't think we'll ever get the original :(

You're right. The version on i-Tunes seems somewhat tame, compared to the versions on Youtube. Also, it now seems you can download Get Set seperately, where before it said "album only", meaning that me - and probably quite a few others - have purchased the whole download album just to get that one song. Oh well, I suppose we should be grateful anyway :)

well the problem at the time was that it was commisioned and owned by the bbc they are the people to blame i believe also telivision sets lyrics were by a mate of vince i believe which is why they never released it the price of love used to be a live favorite as well. if anyone else remembers running the gauntlet of skin heads on the way to the bridge house canning town or the gigs at the pits or the mighty venue (best place to gig ever) give me a shout.

Mute do own this. And it was a planned single release but, as already said, it sounds too much like Just Can't Get Enough and Daniel Miller wouldn't release it. Vince was in dispute with Depeche over royalties and he deliberately set out to copy the riff! He also did some jingles for Capital Radio and other TV tunes - The Other Side Of The Tracks (a shortened version of Chinese Detective), Loose Talk, Trax Trix and Data Run

Flippin' eck, this song is blooming ACE! I've been googling around, trying to find a studio version (or this one, in Hi-Def) and it seems that it just doesn't exist. Did Yazoo record this at all, in a studio? If not, what a crying waste.

Yes good track...one of 3 plus interview they did on GET SET FOR SUMMER BBC TV MAY 1983!

At the end of the track Peter Powell who compared each sat morning said that "that's our new theme tune which will be released as a single".....mmmmmm never did get released!

There must be something about the word "set" that turns off those at Mute who decide what songs to include in an album or a collection. At the time of Vince's Depeche Mode, the band played a beautiful tune titled "T.V. Set," which was never included in the Speak and Spell album and practically forgotten by most.

I remember seeing this performance at the time.... Get Set For Summer, the show was, and Yazoo had done the theme tune for it... the previous song had been by Hazel O'Connor - anyone remember?

Why Mute left this off the box set shows Mute never understood how much we loved Yazoo. Even if the song doesn't exist as a master tape anymore I am sure this video still does.

Yeah, This is truely a brilliant song. Heard it first time a half year ago, and i've listened to it regularly since then... Quite sad that this song is not to be found on the recently released box set. Would LOVE to have this song with a better sound quality.....but still rocks!!!!
