I just finished watching the clip of Gary Lakes doin' this same scene from the MET w/Norman & man...It's almost listening & lookin' @the same singer! Both singers(Lakes & O'neill)R gr8, but, 4 me...they sound like heroic sounding Mimes instead of Siegmunds:( Sorry! I prefer Siegmund 2 sound like Melchior, Lorenz & Svanholm:) These guys of 2day aren't even close 2 'em! I know they've got the "ring" in their voices. But, it's more than just that. It'd B nice 2 have the heft as well:) Go Melchior!
