  • You were in the middle of the road, when he peeped the horn the lights were not in sight, maybe if you show'd more consideration for other road users not hogging the road, others would do the same back. I always give cyclists room but get anoyed at those that hog the middle of the road or two cyclists side by side so they can chat taking up the entire road.

  • @catdog1121

he's basically going at the same pace as motor traffic, on narrow streets.

why should he pull over? what for?

and what has cyclsts two abreast got to do with it?

FYI they still take up less room than a car.

  • Have you considered other helmet cams? I have this camera, but got the Tachyon XC, which has much better sound even with the cover on. The ATCK2 does not have good sound quality at all, really. Take the cover off then the sound is better, but not much. Check out the VHold R and the VHold Contour HD which have great sound, along with the Tachyon XC.

  • LOL, The ATC helmet mounted seems to give a lot better Audio than bar mounted.

  • it's still pants :P

  • Elastic band or tape a thin bit of foam around the plate at the bottom. That will get rid of some of the wind noise.

  • Weird, how could he be that upset. He obviously only focused on you and didn't see the red light ahead.

This is the problem when people don't see cyclists as other road users with equal rights. I really wish the rights of cyclists were explained fully to people learning to drive, especially the road tax situation.

  • New from Foska.. the "I pay VED" range, hehe!! Maybe we should email them with the suggestion ;-)

  • I had to google to get that. :P

I think the problem is and the driving test encourages this. People don't really know when to pass cyclists and as people don't want to look like a bad driver to their passengers/the car behind, they try and go in the quickest opportunity. In the test they'd be worried about hesitation.

I've had friends ask me if it's okay to overtake the cyclist in front...well, you shouldn't need my permission (if they fucked up they'd get an earful though!)

  • but you do get the odd moron (like these two) who just don't care.

  • @thomase1 I was nice and waited behind a cyclist before we came to a red light on my lesson on Thurs :D, like a good driver should. Then my instructor was telling me to bloody overtake him when i personally didn't think it was safe :/, i wasn't happy so will be glad when i'm out on my own :)

  • @PoliceMadAd You learning to drive? Some instructors are just crap. Mine always just left me to it, but if I was to do something I shouldn't stop me then. Best to just do what you think is safest tbh. Certainly, there will probably be times as a learner where you'll be over cautious...but much better than over confident :)...everything comes with time and experience!

  • @thomase1 Yeah i am, test at start of June :). Obviously being a cyclist myself i'm seeing everything from their POV, which obviously helps.

  • @PoliceMadAd Good luck! Best drivers pass first time :)

I've got my CBT in a couple of weeks for a motorbike I've just bought!

  • @thomase1 Thanks :). So you're gonna have 3 options? Think 2 will do for me lol, though i'd love to learn to ride a motorbike, so may end up doing one day.

  • Has made me wonder how easy it would be to edit the audio in a decent app like wavelab. Would be a lot of hard work though I reckon.

LOL He was a gobby sod.

  • what-cha mean? edit the audio so you can actually hear the other people? I can't really remember what he said at the lights, other than the moron passenger was having to stick his head out to say it.

Shame the D lock wasn't more to hand...wave that around a bit :P

  • In theory you should be able to export the audio with the right software. Proper audio software can be expensive though, and time consuming to edit and clean it up.

I used to do it with old tapes years back. Havent the gear now sadly.

  • If you have a Mac, the free Garage Band will, I believe, allow you to change sound levels. I've succesfully used Logic Pro to do this.
