A follow-up comment. I hope that Sir Oliver Humperdink is inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame next year since Wrestlemania will be in Miami. He made his name in Florida and I feel that it would be a nice tribute to him. I would hope that everyone reading this agrees. Please post a comment on this video if you feel likewise. Thanks. We miss you, Oliver.
Great post. Hard to believe that Kevin Sullivan was the face. He would turn heel again in December 1987 when he formed the Varsity Club with Mike Rotondo and Rick Steiner. I guess when Jim Crockett bought out Florida he let Dory go. JCP just got in over there heads by purchasing Florida & the UWF. That led to their demise over a year later.
had JCP not bought out CWF and the UWF,maybe things would have been better for all involved. the UWF/Mid South always had some sort of loose relationship as far as talent is concerned with JCP/NWA throughout the years and Florida was already an NWA territory,so if all entities would have remained separate, things would've been better in my view. JCP had already consolidated Mid Atlantic and Georgia and bought out the St. Louis Wrestling Club.
Crockett didn't have to buy Florida. They still had decent crowds but there wasn't much left by 87. They could have just let them die and cherry-picked their talent.

Interesting to note that the referee for this match was a very pre-ECW Bill "Fonzie" Alfonso.

Interesting pre-WCW NWA logo at ringside.

Ah, the classic criss-cross. Only thing more old-school would be an airplane spin.

A couple of days after that match Sir Oliver Humperdink goes to the WWF managing Bam Bam Bigelow.

Funk believe it or not. At the time Humperdink and Dory turned on Sully. I don't remember how this all played out though.
