Yes, you are right. Iran used to be called Persia. The majority of iranians are persian (51%) and then there are turks (iranian turks), loris, kurds and some arabs (1%). The official language of Iran is farsi (also known as persian in the west).
Islam got into Iran when the country was invaded by arabs. Before this our religion was zoroastrianism. The people fighting in the streets today are iranians who want the islamic regime gone. They want a secular democracy.
