  • Dude, I would love to be your friend, lol. I have a cab myself but it's just a regular American stand up... Boring I know. But dude where do you live? Its hard to find ppl that's into this hobbie

  • Do you know if the astro city cabs come with motherboards? Or just harnesses? I'd love to have one just for the purpose of using it for swapping mobos when I want to play a different game.

  • very cool. i'm about to buy a cabinet and also want to install a mvs board.

i knew there was little space but this option is very interesting.

i was also offered a superneo 29 which is also nice but more expensive.

  • I am thinking about buying an Astro City Cab and if I do I'll be turning it into a neo geo. Any tips on doing so? I don't have much experience with this kind of thing.

  • Haha one of the astro city's I played on in Hong Kong had metal slug 5 in it, 10HKD a credit (about 10p/10cents) had me hooked for ages!

  • has anyone told u that the morse is strong with u yet luke? its still a stylish cab even not completed.

  • quick question do astro city cabs come with a vga and rca cables like the blast city ones do?? thanks

  • Bloody hell Luke! You have your own personal NG arcade, maybe you could start charging admissions, hehe! Honestly though, it's such a great set up you've created here.

  • yeah! hook up some more Metal Slug!

  • Smart thinking on the conversion, the MVS has lots of great games.

  • cool cab ;) i will get mine tomorrow..

and also, nice conversion.. BUT!! the sound isn't ok.. the 4 slot NEO has stereo thru the JAMMA slot, so.. there is nog SPK+ and SPK-, but it's L SPK+ on L from the solder side and R SPK+ on 10 from the parts side.. GND goes to GND.. ;)

  • new astro city arcade this skyfighter is rai din dx

  • all you need is a Nintendo arcade cabinet

  • why is the select button temporary? i mean yellow isnt that bad of a color...

  • Did you know where i can buy diferent game instructions cards for the astro city machine???

In this video a instruction card of a neo geo game is in the joyboard. Is this a self made card or a card from a shop. But in wich shop i can buy it ???

    Thanks !

  • is it possible to hook up ps3 in sega astro city?

  • Yeah, it is possible but you need to buy some extra parts. Because this screen is not an actual tv monitor it's not just a simple plug and play kinda thing. You have to buy a few different adapters and boards to do so. Kinda like what you've gotta do for a mame cab.

  • I'd guess the Naomi ones do, as there were a lot of vertical shooters for it.

  • Yes, That's the name Naomi. Yeah, those ones do have it.

I think that those one's might might also have an LCD type of screen as well but not sure.

  • Wow, I bet LCD screens that size were really expensive back then.

  • @ScrewAttackEurope Yeah but who'd want an LCD in an Astro? haha

  • BTW, is there a pivot in Astro City arcade machines that let you rotate the screen to play horizontal games?

  • Well, in this one, you'd have to take the back yoke of the tube and turn it sideways if you wanted to do something like that but some of the other sega machines they do. I can't remember the names of the others but it's not "Astro" city, they're called something else

  • @lukemorse1 The only cab AFAIK with a rotate mech is a Taito Egret 2 (I have one ^_^) no Sega cabs do. Why do you have to take the neck board off though to rotate? Is it just the wire length? I'm picking one up in a couple weeks and want to set it up in tate.

  • @RetroRepair As it goes, aren't the monitors in these in a frame? So all self contained?

  • I like my STV myself, although I only have Die Hard right now, I would like to get Groove on Fight and Puyo Puyo, not to mention that super hard to find helicopter shooting game that slips my mind right now..

  • Yeah, I don't mind the ST-V games at all but the only problem I'm having is trying to find them on the net. Out of all the 3000 auction listings I checked, I only saw 1 game and that was Virtual Fighter Kids going for $60 and I was like WTF!? so, since I had the other board laying around, I thought I'd put it in for now. If I can get more games though, I'll try to whip something crazy up where I can play both :D

  • you tech nut you lol

  • From playing with soo much electricity as a child, I think it fried a few connections in my brain that say "Hey Luke, Maybe you shouldn't mess with stuff that isn't broken or you'll wind up breaking shit and regretting it"......That switch just doesn't come on like it used to anymore .Or maybe it just has a delayed connection

  • You are really a SNK head, I'd have thought you'd have wanted one jamma machine in your collection.

Whats happening with the one you accidentally ordered now?

  • Lol, Yeah, I suppose I am. If I come across a couple more connectors, I'm going to try to do something crazy with it so it's not over yet :D. The other machine turned out to be a nightmare. The guy started telling me that the key would cost extra and the shipping would cost extra and the one that I saw in the picture might not be the same one I get. I had to get out of that deal cause it didn't seem right at all.

  • He's not allowed to alter the listing after the auction has closed, nor demand additional costs. It's a binding contract. So it's your right to walk.

Did you inform eBay of what happened as well, incase he starts making threats?

  • Yup, sure did. There's no problem at all now.

  • Good for you!

BTW Are you not going to collect SV boards now?

  • That's one way to get more use out of a sega astro city cab.I've seen people do that befor with any jamma based one.Now what are you gonna do with the sega stv board ?

  • Yeah, I haven't decided what to do with the other board, it's packed in a box though and I suppose if somewhere down the line I find some good carts for it, I'll put it in but not sure. I opened up one of the ST-V carts and found that the boards have 2 capacitors on them. This could be a pain in the ass because if these caps go bad, I'd have to replace them but on the other hand, I might be able to pick up some broken used ones for cheap and get them working. Just something interesting I found

  • Man, you are very talented at this stuff. I really like how you show in detail these machines. Very intresting vids. You rule my friend!!!!! And you are right 4 games beat 1 game anyday. Hey off the subject have you seen the sonic's genesis collection for the 360. Its got some really cool classic on it like streets of rage 2 & 3, all the sonic, altered beast, golden axe etc. Very nice collection and in HD.
