  • THis ads for all overseas student who study abroad to pursue his/her dream. and damn right, ninjas cutting onions everywhere in here too :)

  • The Americans' culture all just think of moving out and away from parents; yes it's their view, but in Asia, we stick together in the family. Not to sound like an asshole, but I'm sure everyone can see that by sticking together with your family more often can seem much more appreciative than moving out straight after college.

  • damn ninjas cutting onions everywhere in here

  • 6 people still haven't been overseas alone yet.

  • sometimes not all parents are like what is shown above. i know firsthand.

  • im not going to show my mom this video, she will cry. I love her

  • that is so me

  • Skype needs an advert like this too! :)

  • Just ignore any negative American comment. They are not raised the same way as we did. It might be weird or off putting to them but Asians everywhere stand proud because we are always at par with the Westerners even though we are considered to be from "3rd world countries".

  • Very good advertising by QQ, yet not exaggerated.

  • The instrumental behind this touching video is called, ''但愿人长久"..

  • 人就是这样,近了就烦,远了就想

And I do believe it's against the US law for international students to work except jobs that are within the premises of the school he/she attends.

  • @superxbert LOOOL

  • @iRSleepy Clearly many of them don't agree with you.

  • @iRSleepy Family?

  • @temloc2 Do you even use anything Tencent? Tencent's main product is QQ and I believe there is not a lot of non-QQ stuff. They have only a few non-QQ products from Tencent. So, how can Tencent be the one who sucks? Their main product is QQ. :P

  • tencent is a piece of shit, while qq is a geat innovation.

  • My mother is in China. I love her. I left her when I was 18 to study for my PhD. I still miss her. QQ reconnects me to my family in China. Also, she can fund my QQ VIP and QQ Yellow Diamond. XD

  • This ad actually moved 1st generation Chinese Americans. Not 2nd generation or onwards because they are often ignorant about Chinese language. I may be 2nd generation, but I despise those who don't speak or write Chinese. I guess I'm one of only 2nd generation who was moved by this video.

  • @shtdragon that's nice how it moved you to hate people :). it moved me, and I don't know chinese, after all I'm irish but it is very easy to relate for anyone who goes to college (And doesn't live with their mom)

  • Actually, I was so happy when I was abroad far from everyone... now that I'm at home I only regret being free -_-

  • I dunno. It doesn't transition well. Was getting into the university realizing his dream? It should be graduation. Why did he suddenly start talking to his mother again? I'm not sure why his personality did a 180.

  • @maximummask His dream was to get away from his mum at the time, that's why he said he's finally realizing his dream. He started talking to his mum again because being so far away, loneliness made him realise that his parent's nagging isn't so bad at all. That's why he started talking to his mum again. Of course his personality did a 180, they can't do a gradual change to his personality in a 2mins ad.

  • I miss my mum and she passed away 16 years ago

  • it's so touching for us oversea students

  • 看到机场我就受不了了,泪奔

god that was so sad, I miss my parents!I can't stop tearing

  • I cried watching this ...this is sooooo touching...

  • 有相似的经历,所以感动的一塌糊涂。哭惨了~~

  • 哭惨了。。再看还是哭

  • very touching, such a great video. XD guys, we should call out parent once a week at least, no matter how busy we are!

  • So touching, such a great video!!

  • the remote control scene really moved me, reminds me of what I did for my grandma =')

  • so touching... not just Chinese oversea students, but all students studying abroad & staying apart from their beloved family :( I burst into tears when I saw this clip first time and immediately made a phone call to my mom right after I watched it just simply say I miss her and love her much ... Thanks for sharing xoxoxoxoxo

  • so touching... not just Chinese oversea students, but all students studying abroad & staying apart from their beloved family :( I burst into tears when I saw this clip first time and immediately made a phone call to my mom right after I watched it just simply say I miss her and love her much ...

  • 太感人了。

  • 太感人了。

  • so touching, It is been here for 3 years, I miss my parents..

  • It's the thang and the Taylor gang rolling up them paper planes

  • I'm exactly like the kid and my mom does the EXACT samethings, it's scary. I started to tear up after watching this. I'mma treat her better now.

  • sorry My previous response was to @peteiskrieg not @BarbaryPirates

  • Some of us THINK we know a lot about our parents, but we don't. We don't try or we just can't because of our differences. If both side embraces and put some more effort into putting ourselves in the other's shoes, we would learn to understand.

  • Hey my mum is chinese and its pretty tough, to be like oh one day i will grow up and realise how little " i understood life and her " is not true.

This ad is a nice thought, but i think alot of relationships between chinese parents and their kids are pretty fucked up

    nice try

  • This ad has more heart than many 2-hour movies

    Beautiful!

  • Lets see the same ad for black people lol.

  • This commercial made me realize how much I want to see Chinese moms on webcam... thanks internet

  • LOL @ 1:35 the mom being like the cam is up there you moron

  • I love your mom.

  • This ad would not work in the US because no one would pay attention for that long

  • I'm a chinese, have been in America for 3 years, to be honest, nothing is more exciting than going back home.

  • 1 person don't have a mother to love.

I cried. Thousands of miles from home, I miss my homeland, my parents, my girlfirend so much.

  • Oh my God! I love this clip. So touching!

  • 腾讯。。。。。

  • It's touching because all the international students can find many true things in this ad that all apply to themselves.

  • Touching ad.. Made me realise again..

  • Not only the chinese, all overseas student also has this complexities, you know.

  • i am not touched by this video at all...

  • This brought a few tears to my eyes, and I am a white dude who just saw his parents, only 150 miles away, a week ago. It must be the music. Damn music! heh

  • i miss my mum...:(

  • 0:09 That guy has the same shirt as i have !

  • My mom is one state away, I go home every other weekend, and I still cried.

  • Please change the tittle to Chinese Students Aboard instead off Overseas Chinese students. It will be great if you clear the confusion.

  • How can anyone dislike this? D:

  • That guy is soo hot who is he? <3

  • @mrsxierox9

    Jackie chan

  • @MrValzen LOL

  • I meant pathos

  • It's called emotional advertising strategy, ethos. It's one of the advertising strategies that works the best so people will buy or use the product.

  • It's called emotional advertising strategy, ethos. It's one of the advertising strategies that works the best.

  • I'm a guy and I teared up.

  • miss my mama and papa.. :'(,

  • beautiful commercial

Pulls out emotion from the viewer..

  • I cant remember the title of the background song... can anyone help?

  • @slowfoodrevolution 水调歌头。。=]

  • @slowfoodrevolution It's 但願人長久 by Teresa Teng.

  • I cant remember the title of the background song... can anyone help?

  • Disclaimer: I'm just trying to be funny haha. THIS IS A JOKE.

As a Chinese guy who's in the US as well, I find it amusing that the ad just perpetuates stereotypes of Chinese people continuing to eat Chinese food and ride bicycles even in the US.

Heck man give me my Mustang, my biscuits with gravy and GRITS.

I bet you the cabby was Indian hahahahaa

  • @Mephiston1 uh. I believe he was making deliveries. Who the hell eats so much food? I believe it's not that big of a stereotype to say that many international students hold down part-time jobs.

  • @wadde hahahaha my friends do! each one eats 2 of the small boxes worth of rice + 1 big box of whatever. yeah you make a good point about the delivery thing. heck finding employment at a restaurant of your culture is always a pretty sweet deal. you get free good food man

  • Lol I totally know how he feels about his mum, the video touched me and made me cry :')

  • i did kind of tear up =/

  • my dear mother...

  • Great ad... but what was with him getting taken out by the cab door?

  • @Handles08 Notice that he hides his injured hand when video conferencing with his mom. He doesn't want her to worry about him. That's why he had to get hurt first.

  • Another touching ads for all foreign students :)

  • this reminds me of my mum, except i was lucky to learn to appreciate her very early on - THANK_YOU MUMMY! :D

  • i really cried at 1.11

  • GAWD I criedddddddddd!!!!

  • googles, yahoo and ms ceo also drop their tears.. but for other reason!

  • can not find the account??

  • lol woOt Columbia shout-out~! Also, love that he was studying in the East Asian library... :3 which is also ironically the quietest library, so QQ would definitely piss people off. lol

  • @YumeriaFreak that isn't an actual library at Columbia. Kent looks a lot different.

  • @ddrmaxgt37 Oh wait, jk hahahaha lolz my baaaad. CV Starr is much more Gothic. :3

  • yean not MIT

  • Yay, Teresa Teng. :D

  • @doclkk That's not MIT at 0:37. Why am I so sure? Cuz I see the real thing everyday. Also We have a great business department called Sloan, just as good as UPenn's Wharton, so going into banking is not impossible.

  • 令我會心一笑又真心感動的一個廣告...(識得好多人,包括我在內都曾經好似片中的學生咁嘅態度)

  • brilliant. i love how the mother adamantly keeps in contact with her son, and pushes herself to learn new technology. something all of our parents can relate to - bridging that tech divide to keep the family together.

anyone who has moved away from family for study/work can relate to this. i know i do.

  • w la mamma!!

  • I like how he goes to MIT and then an IBank.

  • @doclkk actually, it's Columbia

  • This is one of the best TV Ads I've ever watched! My deepest gratitude goes to all mothers around the world <3 You all are God's best gifts to humanity.

  • perfect execution of Aristotle's "means of persuasion" geared toward a Chinese audience: PATHOS. =]

  • What a wonderful video that pays tribute to not only the heart-felt sacrifices and triumphs made by Chinese families, but all families who's children leave home. We seldom recongnize the intent by our parents; misjudging the behaviors towards us as intrusive, and obnoxious. It's unfortunate that we tend to realize the value of someone (or something for that matter) when it is out of our reach.... Wonderful job of capturing a moment of the human experience.

  • @HeavenlySoul1 Wonderfully said.

  • China is a great nation that has sent us very many talented individuals to study and work in my country of the United States. I thank all those who've come here and worked hard knowing the difficulties coming from so far to build a new life. Our nations are more interlocked than meets the eye, and we must move beyond old Cold War ideas of a "zero-sum game" to build a strong 21st century relationship. I hope we have a long, prosperous relationship that is beneficial to both our great nations.

  • @BarbaryPirates America isn't a great nation, bro.

  • @BarbaryPirates Awful country, filled with awful, awful faux-liberals and neo-Cons. No thanks mate.

  • @peteiskrieg "Awful country" aren't you the imaginative one? Nice throw away talking points I must say.

  • @BarbaryPirates & Tammc09

Your comments are naive and immature to make fun of other countries, and who is to say which country is a great country? Every country has faults and is great in its own ways, including mine and yours. I think this is a great commercial because it touches on the issues that many people face today but not spoken of. Globalism is happening and is bond to happen. If you are enjoying any aspect of technology and culture, then don't complain about it.

  • @BarbaryPirates What does it have to do with whether Britain was deserving of it or not? If your defense is that Britain deserved to be stabbed in the back by America because they invaded other countries then you have effectively shot yourself in the foot because then America would also be deserving of a little backstabbing.

  • @BarbaryPirates Also, are you a fucking idiot? How can I elaborate further on a reason that has been stated? Your piece of shit country deserves to be shat on by the chinese because it has backstabbed its so called "allies" countless times.

  • @Tammc09 @Tammc09 A reason stated by whom? Your own convoluted mind right?

You seem rather angry over nothing. Why do you "assume" everyone here knows what you're even talking about?

(Oh and the original point was to show a little irony. You're mad at some perceived back stab when the British have done so countless times in their history. Are you from the Commonwealth? Why so mad?)

  • @BarbaryPirates Oh, I'm sorry for assuming an American could keep up a conversation with anyone other than another stupid American, how naive of me.

Don't make the mistake that I'm angry, I'm not. Once again, I'm sorry for assuming that your plebian American mind is complex enough for anything other than shitty sitcoms and commercials.

  • @BarbaryPirates -(Your post reeks of hypocrisy, you condemn the British for their "backstabs" when your country, despite being in its infancy, has commited more abominable acts and betrayals than the British ever has. I am from Britain. I am not insane.)

  • @Tammc09 Get over it.

I think he's more mad over Cameron and his coalition government enacting some austerity love on Britain. Maybe your PM can grovel to the Queen for another election, hm?

  • @BarbaryPirates Get over what? You need to let go.

Are you speaking about me or are you speaking about yourself in the third person? Once again, You aren't making any sense. Your poor, tiny American brain has overloaded and now you're just spewing nonsense.

  • @Tammc09 Let go? You're the one with the personal attacks Mr. Know-It-All U.K. guy. Keep up busting stupid Americans on YouTube! (Even though you never refuted any of my points really. You're sidestepping it for personal attacks a sign of someone who really doesn't know much.) You certainly are fighting the "good fight" I'm sure!

  • @BarbaryPirates I find it funny that you would say I'm sidestepping your arguments whilst you haven't anwered any of my questions. Your shit country will be getting shat on by China soon enough and the world will be 1,000,000x better for it. I can't wait for the day that all of you fat pieces of shit realise that your obesity plagued country isn't a great nation and you ended up in power out of sheer dumb luck.

  • @Tammc09 u mad

  • @BarbaryPirates TypicalAmerican.jpg

  • @Tammc09 0/10 trollharder.jpg

  • @BarbaryPirates You are pathetic.

  • @Tammc09 Do us all a favor and go back to /b/

  • @BarbaryPirates Oh wow, /b/ was relevant 2 years ago. Go back to soccer practice kid.

  • @BarbaryPirates This is "youtube".

Given the nature of the usual comments made in these sections I think you've gotten off pretty lightly with "throw away talking points" and me referring to your country as "awful".

Besides, I didn't want a debate, I was just telling you that your nation, on absolutely NO level, can be considered "great". Great at completely ignorning it's own constitution and letting big business away with LITERAL murder, sure, but that's it. Not limited to the US, obviously.

  • @peteiskrieg People with monies get around the law, news @ 11. Yawn. Tell me something I don't know.

  • @BarbaryPirates I assume you're being wilfully ignorant to the point I'm making... that your country not only lets people with "monies" (what are you, 8?) around the law, but has a vast majority of the population so kowtowed, that they actually try to justify this by arguing against higher taxation rates, and arguing for the complete destruction of unions and workers rights.

Hardly the work of a "great nation", is it? At least in Britain we know we're being fucked. You lot actually support it.

  • @peteiskrieg Assumptions are assumptions. You don't know what I support, do you? Don't claim to know anything about me. You also seem to play in generalizations. What are YOU, 6 years old? And "monies" is a real word go look it up. You only look like the real idiot here trying to debate a country's "greatness" when there is and never will be a perfect society or nation. That's you're problem.

If you really think all Americans support that then all you must do is watch our news which is sad.

  • @BarbaryPirates I hope that China backstabs your country in the way that yours backstabbed the British.

  • Comment removed

  • @BarbaryPirates thanks for your comment.

  • @BarbaryPirates lol why do british people hate America??? I dont get it...

  • @tbnews2 I'm currently 10000km from home, and trust me, you're misinterpreting the video.

  • @tbnews2 craps, its an ad, a nice one in fact
