  • hey hey! Have you tried the Intellitus Cash System (google it)? Ive heard some unbelivable things about it and my cousin got insane amounts of moolah.

  • LOLOLOLOL and now she's part of the 1%. LOLOLOLOLOL

  • @zephoratube It's true we're our own worst critics, but my suggestion is to pay more attention to the voice of what you love to do regardless of what you keep telling yourself. I never thought I'd ever have the necessary focus to finish a book because of my ADD, but I had to keep pushing against myself and absorb myself in the stories. I've since written 2 books and plan on writing many more. If you can push enough to finish it, that's what matters and you'll gain more self-confidence once you

  • whats this have to do w ebooks persay tho?

  • Nice story, but in my life I'm my own biggest enemy, not people around me. How do I deal with my own inner enemy that keeps telling me that I am a failure? If only I could get rid of that annoying voice and find my self-confidence, and if I could also train myself in self-discipline, I would be where I want to be for sure! But I keep boycotting myself...

  • im trying to find real videos here not commentary from people in their bed room...no disrespect............

  • amazon.com/dp/B005O8J644/ Check my ebook out

  • this young lady deserve everything she gets, the big publisher push her off, but see carried on like many people i know, any one can do the same, If you need help we are here to help.

  • This story would be much better if her books weren't shite.

  • LEARN THE INSIDER SECRETS OF THE SUPER WEALTHY !!

  • What's wrong with 26 years old?

  • Success is the best revenge.

  • How Insipring, nobody has the right to tell you that you can't do anything, and how to live your life.

  • Let the people decide, abso-fucking-lutely!

Do no harm, do what you love and always improve at it and you can't lose.

  • youtube.com/watch?v=IbnmJSFrViM is far better

  • youtube.com/watch?v=IbnmJSFrViM is far better

  • Anyone else think Amadna was CHOSEN by some very powerful e-publishing types to become the poster child for the death of traditional publishing. I began publishing e-books in 1999,.and have made good money, but THIS goes beyond all reason. Even without her knowledge, they could have jacked up her sales, knowing full well the media would chime in with the "e-books are the future" stories. They've been the story for quite some time.

  • Hawkings... how do they work?

  • Yeah I wanna get started on my project, but I don't know how to make a website, can't afford hiring someone to do it, and my mates who know how are very busy at the moment. FML.

  • Lol, I'm actually an aspiring writer... problem is, I want to write erotica... but I'm not even old enough to buy it yet :D

  • OMG That's so severely heartening, coming from an aspiring writer!

  • @Ryvensan Good luck , I hope you can acheive your goals

  • Happy for her.

  • Who here wants this writer to go back to every publisher she went to before personally and just leave a big cardboard sign in their lobbys just saying "This publisher rejected me, I'm now a millionare. SUCK IT BITCHES!" ^_^

Who needs to be graceful and tactful? Its all about rubbing their faces in it ^_^

  • @Lostfaith1980 Better would be if she laughed at all the PEOPLE who thought she wasn't a "real writer" because she didn't have a book deal.

  • This is actually really inspiring. I always wanted to be a writer. And this story is just like a big "fuck you" to the publishers. ^_^ Score!!

Hearing a story like this makes me think that maybe just maybe I could write for a living. Though I'm not stupid, I have alot to learn.

  • Story line of her books are pretty good. However, the grammatical errors are SUBSTANTIAL! I wouldn't care but the grammatical errors are so common that they actually disturb the reading experience. I love the books but If you are getting rejected and you are gonna post them on kindle anyway edit your own freakin work!

  • Proof positive that no one else determines *your* success. You and you *alone* are responsible for it.

  • And this vid is B.S., she's not millionaire and even she admits that if you read her blog.

  • @PeteyPoison No, what she says is that she didn't just wake up with a million dollars in her bank account. She said it took years of work and hours each day.

  • @PeteyPoison I would say she's getting close. She pockets more from the sale of a $2.99 ebook than an author with a publishing house does from a $9.99 ebook. For an in depth look at the dollars and cents you should read "Amanda Hocking and the 99-Cent Kindle Millionaires"

  • @Hariuka If no one followed their dreams and didn't take that risk to go against the odds, the world would be a dismal place. I'm sorry you feel that succumbing to everyone else's standards of reality ("statistics never lie", etc.) and touting all this "you're NEVER going to make it" bullshit is going to help anyone. So I might make it, I might not. No skin off your back. Point is, if Amanda listened to people like you, she'd never have gotten to where she is today. And yes, touting your "reali

  • @tommysch It's about vampires, only more in an Anne Rice style and there's more horror and psychological suspense. There's no romance. Some people like to read shitty books. I'm not one of those people and I certainly don't write to appeal to them. While I am interested in things like vampires and zombies, I hate teeny bopper shit and strive to come up with fresh angles for those who are sick of all that nonsense corrupting their favorite genres.

  • Just write an insipid novel about high school vampires. Its quite simple really.

  • The novels are about vampires... of course they are!!! roll eyes

  • Story of my life (exept for the millions part)

Im a comicbook artist and ive been denied SOOOO many times i almost decided quit everything! Until someone gave me the chance to start my own company by making me a fellow owner and lead-artist.. Best feeling in the world!!!

  • @cwongchung Oh wow that is awesome! I also want to be a comic artist.

  • How is she a millionaire? Ebooks are like one dollar. Especially for books that are unpublished elsewhere by unknown authors? If she sold 900,000 books that's 900,000 dollars generated. Amazon must be taking a cut of that too.

  • @watermelonygoodness

She's selling her books for both $2.99 and $.99. Eventually it adds up.

  • @watermelonygoodness she has like 19 different books. So even if she only sold 100,000 of each it would be well over a million.

  • Good for her... I just always wonder that USA has everybody writing books, they are cheap and apparently everybody is reading books, why the hell people there are mainly stupid?

  • In honesty everyone I know wants to write a book, this is a one time case. Not everyone is this lucky, I mean you can try and try but it won't matter go put it in a fanfiction website.

Now that someone has succeeded, every will do it, and it will become pointless. Has anyone even seen a fanfiction website!? Almost 95% is trash.

It is honestly great to know someone worked hard and achieved, but it is also obvious she got lucky. This sounds depressing but not everyone can become famous.

  • @Hariuka She's not famous yet. Most people hadn't even heard of her until the story came out in the news. And no offense, but you sound just as stupid as everyone who rejected her simply because she had a dream of doing what she loved for a living. Enjoy your despair. This isn't about fanfiction & not everyone can write a novel. It took me an entire year to finish mine, and that's minus the editing work I still have to do. Go find something better to do than stomping on everyone's dreams.

  • @PeteyPoison Is it a story about emo high-school vampires? If not, dont even bother finishing it.

  • @PeteyPoison If she has this much money then she is famous bro. And no I am not stomping on anyone's dreams. You want to follow her then go ahead and make the magic but 9/10 times it is going to fail. Plus no you are write not everyone can write a novel, but mostly everyone sure damn tries. Plus my reality on life isn't despair. It is a realization that all the dreams you have aren't always going to work out. Dreams are just that. Dreams. Why the hell do you think most people don't follow it??

  • NEVER GIVE UP !!!!!!!!!! FUCK THE HATERS, THEY'LL KISS MY ASS AND SCREAM MY NAME TOMORROW

  • Thumbs up if you think "what now, bitches?" should be added to the soundboard

  • yes ana, i love you, you are inspirational, i will tell em to SUCK it

  • theres a famous childrens book writer that was refused in the beginning, she wrote pippi longstockings for an example, her name is astrid lindgren :)

  • @Rospandan

I thought you were gonna talk about JK Rowling

  • @cuppycakemunsters Jealous of a teenager that contributes nothing to society while I am a successful biologist and engineer? I do not think so.

  • In order to make money being a writer, whether on paper or Ebooks, you HAVE TO BE A GOOD WRITER. I'm sure this woman is a great writer, it's just the book industry has it's own way and most younger writers with no history are turned down. This is nothing new. MOST new writers are strictly Ebookers, this girl is one of the many new writers who have made it big, but one thing they all mostly have in common, THEY CAN ACTUALLY WRITE. Most people who think they can write a good story, CANNOT.

  • @ugladbro your ass

  • Good for her. But i have no skills.

  • If Twilight can sell millions, then anyone can become a millionaire. I wish I was stupid enough.

  • publishing industry has been obsolete for a while now. they are not needed anymore

  • The books are geared towards young people who generally may not have much f an interest in reading. If it helps them read more, then great, unfortunately the text on the pages must be such that nothing of value comes from it. Then again, what can we say about comics?

  • First, love the story. Second, love the add for gotomeetings at the end. More effective than regular advertising.

  • This is a good story. Good for the girl. However, I'm glad the internet can't make everyone's dreams come true. It's one thing for a writer who gets rejected by publishing companies to self publish. She's not hurting anybody, whether or not she's a hack. Thankfully people who fail at trades or med school etc. can't use the internet to make their dreams come true.

  • Love Ana.

  • Whether you like her work or not is irrelevant. It's nice to see someone pursue their goals even in the face of adversity.

  • Her books are pretty much the McDonald's of book. Everybody knows its crap, but it's marketable crap!

  • @ugladbro Don't underestimate the power of Twilight. Stephenie Meyer has done an excellent job of pinpointing that quiet girl of the bunch. The one who's really shy, never speaks and who's oh so engulfed in her teenage depression. And there are millions of them. I'm reading the first book, and it's filled to the brim with Trouble in Teen Town.

  • cenk giving the young turks credit at 3:10. hell yea.

  • my dream is playing video games... nah.

  • I do not even need to watch the video to know the answer. YES YOU CAN, AND I CAN SHOW YOU! Just buy my ebook to learn how.

  • fiction is going the way of popular music. cheap easy to produce trite released to the masses will find enough stupid teen girls to buy it.

  • Funny this story showed up recently. I've been writing a lot lately and I recently bought a Kindle and was highly considering submitting an eBook.

  • This is bad. This just make crappy books more easy to access.

  • Yes, it just takes longer than before.

If you want fast money, write a popular app; but you have to fade the vig along the way.

  • get it? get it.

  • Yeah, but this is an extreme rare occurrence. If you don't have a major company MARKETING your product, it ain't gonna happen, but one in a million!!

  • lol now shes going to make even more money cause you andvertised her story

  • Ana wants you to suck it. What are you going to do?

  • @NoJamOnYourBread No fuckwad I have an education and intelligence. I understand that any kind of literary analysis is way beyond your abilities but I am in fact capable of such. You are an infantile cretin so stick to reading the tabloids and don't forget to consume.

  • Her material had to have some merit if she sold 900 K copies of her books. Literary critics may think its shit, but if people give a damn enough to buy your book, she has something going that cannot be ignored.

  • @gj804 Yep, the teen vampire fad.

  • Haters gona hate. :)

  • Does she put naked pictures of herself in there?

  • damn...that's a lot of books her mom bought just to make her feel better.

  • ana's hair is gorgeous

  • On the other hand,

it's possible for people with little or no talent,

    to make it big.

    Just look at "President" Obama.

  • @bobbytiger

He's a good orator if nothing else.

  • @densaugeo

    He is a great orator.

    And, nothing else.

  • I can deal with a crappy author much better than a crappy music artist. I don't have to look at a book but I'm forced to listen to lame artists everyday on the radio. Good on her. She made good money because she didn't give up. I'm only saying this because I'm not forced to listen to her tho.

  • Ana, you are very often at a 10 when you need to be at a 2

  • The interesting part is she's not an incredible writer her novels are more of a short story something to pass the time with i've read her my blood approves series and it was good but her trylle trilogy was a little on the boring side overall I think she's an okay author this goes to show you you don't have to be a stephen king writing prodigy or whatever to make it

  • This show has turned into the ana show. It sucks.

  • @hash1212121212 She was the reason i started watching tyt (just see how she used to be in the old vids). Now she is on an ego trip, acts like Cenk, tries to do his jokes and is nothing but judgmental :( She even speaks extra slow so she can get even more attention. I hate to say it.

Her ego trip has affected the whole show. I just scan videos looking for Cenk but it's not the same it used to be :(

  • @bsgrep

I agree. The quality of the show has gone way down now that Cenk is basically a co-anchor to Ana. Now its always Ana goes first and Cenk just goes along with what she says most of the time, there is no debate. Only guy I can count on now is Jayar lol.

  • Clearly letting the people decide generates complete garbage like this authors books - publishers are providing a public service in my opinion by bringing quality to our bookshelves.

Sure its a nice story but does her work merit the attention its getting? I don't think so and it doesn't seem like its in the public interest to popularize poorly written literature.

  • YOU ARE ALL MISSING THE POINT.... if it's crap or not, some people obviously didn't think so and those few made her millions. It's what she did, she followed what she wanted to do. Duh...

  • Win for her. Most of that money would go to the jackass publishers if they accepted her books. Now she gets mos,t if not all, of it herself

  • @ooMONKEYoo

    Amazon gets most of it.

  • @Mattm1986 Do they really? I would assume it wasn't as disproportionate as regular publishing companies.

  • Writing is like music ... every artist has an audience.

It could be an audience of 3 or 300 or 3,000,000 ...

Work hard at what you do. Love what you do. And if you fail, learn from it and try again. Better to live with failure than regret.

  • I have an Announcement people:

"CHANNELS OF PASSAGE" by Geddy Friedman.

Reignite the passion of classic romanticism and epic poetry story-telling.

Look for it at Xlbris, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble websites at the end of the month. THANK YOU!!!

  • I haven't read her books, so I won't comment on that, but I agree with Ana's advice - Don't give up if people say "you can't do it" or "you're not smart enough". It might be true, but be sure you try until there's no more to be done. I grew up being told I sucked at math, and that I wouldn't be able to even finish high school mathematics, yet I did! Had a good grade, got into Computer Engineering in the college I wanted, and I've done alright . Do your shit! \o

  • what are her books about?

  • @SpoiledLogic oh nevermind, i should have known

  • It doesn't matter whether the books are good or not. The fact is the woman go rejected, but fought back. Her books might be "crap", but she's still making the money...and from the reviews on Amazon, a lot of people have been inspired (whether in a good way or a bad way) enough to leave reviews. Good on her.

  • whats interesting about these "rejected writer" stories to me, is how it shows that publishers cant really tell what will sell. it doesnt matter if the books are shit. the publishers job is to know whether it is shit that will sell or shit that will not.

  • its really fucking annoying when people don't take you seriously because your young.

i can barely find work laying bricks because in 17.

  • @trekkie108 That is because you have to be an illegal immigrant to lay bricks.

  • This story is great, but it's as old as time itself. Everyone who's ever done anything has failed a bunch. As Edison said, "I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work."

  • I can almost guarantee that at least 90% of her buyers only bought the books because it was so cheap. The book itself was garbage.

  • even if the books are indeed shitty, she made MILLIONS. i don't think she should have to care if they sucked because she got rich off it. if you could get rich off of selling your dog's week old shit I'm pretty sure most people would take that offer

  • @xboxmime But when you sell that shit, you know it's shit. I doubt she thinks her own work is shit, she probably thinks that her books are great.

  • I just hope she is good at writing. There are too many hacks out there who believe they write good stories... *cough* Steph Meyer *cough*

  • Don't stop believing, hold onto that feeling...

  • she looks like a 16 year old emo.

  • good job congratulating someone for writing crap and getting rich without any talent whatsoever.

and then comparing her success despite lack of talent with TYT's emergence ... Woaw

  • People should not buy this. We cannot allow this to be a viable career option. People need to work for big corporations and help us get rich.

  • The tables have turned. They used to write books about Moby Dick. Now Moby Dick is doing the writing.

  • @cuppycakemunsters Actually, it does. If she was pretty, she would be out on dates, not sitting at home on Fridays writing horrible books.

  • How do I get Cenk to speak at my college?

  • @violet101 Good question I have looked into Scientists coming to my school to speak. First of some people have an appearance fee makes sense your asking them to take a couple days out of there life to fly to you and speak. Some people are willing to donate that I have no idea about Cenk. Second you need to buy that person a plain ticket and a hotel and food and all that for the time they are in your city. When it is all said and done it cost about $2000 to $10000 to get non-celebrity speaker.

  • @harvellt thx for the info! Had no idea it could up to 10k for a non-celeb. O.o

  • @violet101 Well you've screwed the pooch now by calling him a non-celeb your only hope now is to compliment him on his massive wang.

  • @nilbud I think it's insulting to call anyone a celebrity because its synonymous with insanely rich and stupid. Cenk is an intelligent commentator/journalist, not some bimbo Paris Hilton or arrogant Charlie Sheen.

  • @violet101 That's it, you're on the ball now. Try bribing him with some star trek memorabilia or suchlike.

  • It's a new world. New Technology is opening new opportunities. Like there are musicians that only have a youtube accout and a facebook profile who are having their own music careers. Go!

  • All of these publishers and record companies need to be quivering in their waiting boots now because they are no longer THE way into the industry for notoriety and sucess. The internet and freedom to share intellectual works is the way. The days of snobby imperialist cigar smoking wankers are NUMBERED. It's good.

  • Publishers know fuck all. They follow trends. I have sent numerous works for publishing that have been rejected on the grounds that they don't fulfill certain criteria. My agent spoke to a particular publisher for advice and told me their advice was "Write a teen book about vampires, werewolves, ghosts etc. Make it a love story full of teen angst and we will publish it." My response was "Fuck that. I couldn't do that to myself." Have to admit that I'm tempted right now though.

  • @sum1otosh1 Amanda's books ARE about vampires and teen love.

  • @SillyLitleGirl Technically, one trilogy is about trolls. Yes, trolls. I'm not even joking.

  • @XxSweetDelicious

    lold.

Teenage women and dem nasty fetishes.

  • @SillyLitleGirl Oh fucking surprise surprise sur-fucking-prise. What the fuck happened to originality? Imagination? Technical expertise?

I can guarantee that I wont be adding to her millions LOL

I write grown up fiction, I read grown up fiction.

  • Can you accomplish anything? Considering she is writing a book along the lines of Twilight which already has high demand she can be understood as why she's a success. Would an amazing, in-depth, challenging read be able to achieve the same success? A lot less likely.

  • ok ones age is not going to factor into why a publishing company is not paying you for a book, maybe the book was just shit.

  • Awesome, Kinda poetic justice i like :)

  • The cool thing about this is... if she had gone with one of those publishing houses.. she would have gotten barely any money at all.. Random House etc pay sh*t.. with this girl selling her own stuff, she gets all the revenues. Rock on.

  • You can make a million bucks by selling "pixels" (google million dollar homepage) so i think anything is possible. :)

  • @Cyelon My mate sold 'Font's' years ago, so this is possible.

  • Amanda Hocking is a fucking moron. Now every Tom, Dick and Joey will be posting novels on Amazon.

    Way to kill your market.

  • Hey. If FOX ‘NEWS’ can sell their bullshit every day, this gal has every right to sell her stuff. Glenn Beck made over $30,000,000.00 last year selling garbage to stupid people. Same with Limbaugh.

At least Amanda Hocking isn’t using fear-mongering to sell stuff to stupid people.

  • @demmmmm1 Uh it's vampires.

  • @nilbud Funny. No, I meant actual fear-mongering. Not fantasy stuff. LIke the kind the right-wing uses to scare old people into voting for them. “Death Panels,” and “Pulling the plug on grandma.” Stuff like that.

  • Look at that. Instead of complaining that they turned her down because she was a woman, she actually went on to kick they ass by putting in an extra effort. Admirable. Now, is this to say that she's making more money than male online publishers? :P

  • Hey, if you sell 900,000 books, that actually not a lot of people compared to how many people there are in the world, none the less in the US. I still think that even the worst writer can get VERY lucky and publish a great book. HOW DO I GET MY BOOKS ON KINDLE!!!????

  • @SedoreShin None the less and hitherto go to the kindle website.

  • Her books fucking suck though................

  • WHAT NOW BITCHES

  • Have read one of her books, it's rubbish. Waste of time and money ($0.99). So is it admirable that someone makes a fortune selling garbage? The publishing companies were totally right to send her packing.

  • Even though her books may be awful she accomplished her dream atleast.

  • They're the worst books I've ever seen. They're written specifically for the most profitable demographic (coughtwilightfangirlscough) and sell more than the professionally written novels because they're fucking cheap.

  • Anna why are you that real? lol

You are so damned real it's crazy.

You said, "Get it? Get it.

  • If she published this online, I'm guessing there isn't a copyright? OR do you get a copyright before publishing? Idk this that's why I'm asking about it. If so then her work could potentially be stolen..

  • @soad19152003 You have copyright on any work you create. Publishers have nothing to do with copyright on your work (unless you 'sell' your work to them).

  • @ViewtifulZeke O ok, thanks :)

  • Kaleb Nation published his book at 22...

I haven't read his books but I met him in a bookstore so... yeah...

  • use youtube as well and make your book be known as much as possible the new media powns main stream hands down

  • @abobobobobo3

I didn't think of those things; thanks for the heads-up. Although I never stated I like Shakepseare, either. While I agree, I think I will keep my stance. Selling sex isn't even something I really dissaprove of, but I doubt this girl has any real 'talent'. Not with the Twilight theme I've heard it has. I think when the target audience is girls going through puberty, you likely don't have what it takes to amuse the critical mind - just young female sex fantasty, y'know?

  • @JBLuvvableXx Hahahah you couldn't be more wrong.....

  • you can make millions doing anything... the only variable is how long it takes.

  • How much do you bet there's vampires and werewolves in these books? She looks like a Twilight, emo fan-girl.

  • @soundslave She looks like she ate a Twilight emo fan-girl

  • Start travelling, communicating, educating.

    Sing them your song.

You'd be suprised how many people want to hear what your saying.

    Apples are red,

but taste the same as green. Wooo!

  • Twilight sold millions of copies, it doesnt make the book good

  • when did ana get soooo much swag?

  • this is epic ....

  • Do I need the emo haircut too?

  • This is truly and wonderful Alice in Wonderland Story and I approve 100% from you two giving us this about Amanda I could care less about the jerk off so-called what you people call sporting event. If they went to a lock out this year I would laugh my ass off, I would love to see a bunch of ole drunks out there playing real football like the old days, not this little chicken shit got to wear 100pds of shit so I won't get myself hurt stuff on the body.
