In your case, I'd recommend for you to grab less hair on the sides and tease the crown section of your hair more so it covers the bump!

I think with thick wavy hair, you can turn it into a cute messy updo without having to tease it (= Braids are also great to manage your hair. I've had a few tutorials on this already so you can look for them on my channel~

For the V-shape, I think it looks best with longer hair so yeah, I'd recommend your hair to be at least mid-back. But for poofy hair, I think a "U" shape would be better so you won't have to thin your hair too much from the back ^^;
