Grammatically, "like a child misses their blanket" is incorrect because "a child" is singular and "their" is plural. Sorry, but this really annoys me because it doesn't make sense and it's plain wrong.

Now, to be correct would be "like a child misses his (or her) blanket." Maybe Fergie didn't want to single out a gender by saying "his" or "her" but saying "their" is just stupid and wrong.
