kind of messed it up for me, when you showed off the guitars. why you have something to prove.. would have been nice to see more pictures of him.. to have seen the man behind the instruments, not the instruments themselves.
This video almost made me tear up. Given time I think Shawn will be recognized as one of the greatest musicians not only of the modern era, but in the history of music. Personaly my favorite musician and a inspiration everyday of my life.
cuando escuchas miles de musicos te das cuenta que muy pocos lo son pues la mayoria solo repiten notas vacias sin color y shawn lane tenia todos los colores
I worked shows for 20 years in Memphis. I never had the priviledge of meeting him but saw him in Alfreds once. I just stood there with my mouth open, astounded at his brilliance. RIP
what i would do for one of his guitars :'(. I love the guitar so much and shawn lane brought my love for it out from a whole new perspective. This man is amazing I feel like dying knowing that someone as wonderful as him both as a person and guitarist had to leave way to early. Shawn I miss you so much man. your inspiration makes me hope that I can some day bask in the shadow of how you played. RIP
hey I can confidently say if you want to start playing even remotely close to how Shawn played, learn the diminished arpeggios and start playing them faster and faster as you learn. It helps A LOT with your dexterity and youll get a more Shawn type of as he said, "outside sound"
Shawn (the genius) was the greatest musician I've ever witnessed... strings and keys...(and like Brian Carroll said)more importantly, he was a great man. Nice job!
When you said you own every one of those guitars, you do mean replicas, not Shawn's actual, personal guitars correct? I just wanted to make sure because I thought his sister still has everything, pretty much. Also, did you know Shawn. I met him a number of times since I live in Memphis and heard him play live dozens of times, but I wouldn't say that I "knew" him well. He recognized me as a "guitar groupie" who loved his playing but that's about it.
You must be a wealthy assed 13 year old because those guitars aren't cheap. I figure the chepeast now might be the Charvel considered the Vigier's run around three grand a piece, and the roland guitar is a collector's item now, especially if you have the synth module thing. DAMN, good for you.
Well, it's my Dad that buys them, but I mostly play them. The blue synth Roland thing? Ya I have that, and the Guitar is in great condish (just a bit dusty)
im surprised that no guitar magazines have gotten hold of you so they can show case this amazing man's instruments
Lane is way to great for this world maybe in a few years people will then understand him better...seriously he should be a super well known musician,a House hold name
wow I had never heard of shawn lane until I had searched out the fastest guitarist in the world. and i saw his name and I wanted to see how good he was but I must say he has some wonderful music. I really like this song I think I will find the rest of his music and listen to it thanks for the awesome video
I saw 4 or 5 times in concert, especially in Paris, where I went to see behind the scenes to sign my guitar was an Ibanez Satriani model, while playing with it I said he had been a time ...
I ran into him again on stage in Holland, he had broken a string while playing, I went up on stage to help remove ... "I of course keep in memory";-)))
It was a great big tall man, and so humble, shy on the edge ...
This is a moving video, I think it is one of the nicest on Youtube, the song is well chosen. I had not heard it before. Your ending pic is one of my favourites of SL.
You are right that he loved guitar...but above all, he loved music. He truly found a unique voice on it. If you listen to him play and then sing what he plays, or go on keyboard, or anything, what comes out, all sounds like Shawn Lane. His soul was music. Poor guy...a lot of people love him. For good reason. Thanks for the video.
Thanks alot. I agree so much that Shawn had a lust for music. Its like he was put on earth just for that reason. The song is by a pretty well known band named This Mortal Coil. Their music is pretty moving too. Thanks for the comment. RIP Shawn.

Not his personals no, but the GR-300 is a super rare guitar. No I didn't meet him, I'm only 13.
