Great advise! I swim long distance in the ocean and ALWAYs swim near lifeguards when alone. I have my hubby come along in a kayak when crossing areas without lifeguards. No matter how good a swimmer is, you never know what might happen! If I'm alone I swim along surf breaks (outside of the surf) near surfers. That way if I need help it's there.
