I could imagine they were manufactured by a company either in Saxony or some other supplier who vied for the contract & got it. In any case, they're a spin-off of the older Wehrmacht helmet but with a shorter cut.

Prussia and its Military was not more aggressive than other armies, i.e. the Red Army. Except of the 7 Yera war, prussia didnt attack other nations. Even the russian zar in the 7 year war kept neutral for admiring the prussian king. As first in Germany, Prussia introduced a mandatory shoolsystem for everyone. But true, Prussia knew how to defend itself. No one less than Napoleon admitted at the grave of King Friedrich, he wouldnt be here if he would be alive..the great Napoleon ..

Discrimination eased in 1444 when Gdansk region returned to Poland, Gdansk, though despite location in former Royal Prussia is not located on ethnic Prussian land, but slavic. Prussian land begins some 60km east of Gdansk. Anyway, first Prussian book was printed in XVI century in Konigsberg, Polish Monarchy. By then only remnants survived.

The uniforms are similar to the MfS and NVA uniforms except that they're green rather than grey. Also, the small armed force of the MfS (the "Wachregiment Feliks Dzierzynski") was hardly "secret"--they performed frequently in military ceremonies. Its strength by 1989 had reached 11,400, not 15,000.

These were the successor models of the Wehrmacht helmets, German designs. The English plate helmets looked a lot funnier.

First there was still the Prussian spiked helmet M1885. Then there came the helmets M16 and M18. In the third empire came the helmets M35, M40 and M42. Then in 1944 the model of the today's East German helmet was sketched. But the armed forces guidance still wanted no production of this model. After the war Eastern Germany has produced this helmet for the NVA. Only there was the M54 and then the M56. The M56 was used till 1991, one uses the M40 and M42 even today.

One can find out this also everything in the net. Of it sometimes from, I was in the German army. At that time we still carried for the US Army helmet M1 and the German M56 as a parade helmet. At home I have two M42 and a M40 helmet. One of the M42 helmets comes from the Spanish army, from the Franco dictatorship. At that time the Sanische army was equipped by the German. The other M42 is from the THW and the M40 of the Federal Border Guard (BGS).

I actually commented this to a DDR Border Guard, in German, I said to him that his uniform looks like a Whermact Uniform.I have to say that The NVA leadership went aginst the Soviet Army in adaping a so similar uniform to the force they fought just a few years before shows guts, something
