@PhOeNiXpIoLe He's prolly one of those guys that will come back saying I've got a Dodge, or Plymouth, or Chrysler not realizing they are all the same company...(and use the same engines/drivetrains)
@getoffmeluckycharms yes i know they similar drivetrains and engines but they are still totally differen't from chryslers maybe not dodges but definitely chrysler cars everyone know that because dodges and jeeps are designed for offroad and towing chryslers are not thus the engines are normally bigger and more powerful in jeeps bc jeeps buying do not seek luxury at least then they didn't
@PhOeNiXpIoLe Your incorrect. Just because it is in a truck/suv and not a car doesn't mean they don't have the same drivetrain. They can have both. Also, the engines that you think are bigger and more powerful is wrong. They use the same engines in different vehicles including chrysler cars. Just because it is geared differently with the trans doesn't mean its less powerful...
Saves you lots of gas money. It's almost like a fifth gear. When your steady cruising it will engage and drop the RPM. So at 70 mph with the overdrive on the rpm should be around 1700 with out the overdrive engine rpm would probaply be around 2500 stressing the motor and buring alot of gas
Not realy for towing maybe but as soon as you put your foot into it the od shuts down and the passing gear engages and hold on for the ride until you let off and the od engages again
@tigreslokos the OD helps if you're towing or going in hilly areas since it gives more torque to speed up and pass and it also slows you down faster because of the lower gear. If you need to pass someone on the highway it will be much faster if you have the OD off, but it will be much noisier and gas consuming (2500 rpm). Having overdrive off on the freeway does make you accelerate faster. Even if you have it on and you suddenly accelerate it does not turn off like described below.
@old66impala its nothing special other then the last gear but its called an over drive when the output speed of the transmission is spinning faster then the input speed thus the name over drive. so simply put its just another gear
dude It's utube relax. I would love to line up with ya and make you cry but we both know thats not going to happen. So get a real life outside of your little world. and remeber I OWNED A 1994 GRAND CHEROKEE SE 4.0 BEFORE THIS ONE I know what they can do.
are you still at this. God you must have no life. I feel sorry for ya But once again I had a 94 4.0 se. Super charged? with turn downs? I surprised you haven't blown the motor yet. I also own and operate a auto repair shop. So I know enough about cars to tell you Your Full Of Shit
its been 7 months you think id keep it straight piped tht long..... it will warp valves. and no backpressure on a super charger is just pointless, b4 i got the sc i got flowmaster 40s
So you decided to lose even more torque of what little you had to begin with be removing as much back pressure as possible eh? The I6 is not much lighter than the 4.7.
The 4.7HO came stock with 265HP/335ftlb. That and you could get 3.73 gears if you got the towing package(I did).
Just pop the hood...the resonator box (plastic intake box right on top of the manifold) will either say Power Tech or High Output. I'm sure you're just confused and you have the normal 4.7L.
The HO's only came in the Limited or Overland. Of these two, they came with the white/indiglo gauge backpanel instead of the standard black gauge set.
The resonator will say HighOutput, and you should have a 'HighOutput' sticker below the V8 sticker on the back.
I fell asleep at 70.

thanks for the comment. I was just messing around with a new camra. The OD stand for Overdrive. It turns the overdrive on and off.

4.7 HO
old66impala 3 years ago
That's not a H.O. it's a 4.0L or 4.7L naturally aspirated...and if it's the 4.7L than you have problems cause that's really slow.
tbm5690 3 years ago
it is a ho i have a 2000 4.7 and its a ho
vdubracer33 3 years ago
No...unless you did a swap the H.O. was not available until 2002.
