  • Very nice review, thanks buddy!

  • This is gonna sound really dorky but I like how you associate the game with colors. Ever since I started gaming I noticed that color has a lot to do with setting the game's main feel. The environments in P3 had more of a blue and black feel.

  • @Mushro0mMan

Not dorky at all my friend. In fact images and colours reminding you of games is an example of how good games can leave a lasting impression on your psyche.

  • You should consider picking up Digital Devil Saga, or SMT: Nocturne. If the prices are to steep, get a gamefly membership.

  • @excalibunny I actually own them luckily, a friend sent me Nocturne back in the summer, and I was able to buy both DDS games for two bucks at a pawn shop and in great shape! :D

  • Why don't you put some reviews up of them man? I always enjoy RPG reviews!

  • @excalibunny I have yet to play them....I got other stuff on my plate

  • @MagusX1

I've seen this partly lets play of this from naka Telli unfortunately due to it being a Co op deal with ones of his friends elemental ogre. He has had schedule conflicts so he has not made a video of it for a couple to several months. I think he got past the part when you fight. The boss slash persona of the gay guy who's very athletic.

  • Magus should i get persona 3 fes after beating this?

anyway I played the game with X2 EXP (with action replay) to avoid the tedious grinding. Call me noob but it really makes for a better experience. :D

  • @Gnarkade I donot find the game a grind fest really, you donot really need to grind in this game. And like I said I have no problem with using cheat devices as long as it is not in Multipalyer. Singleplayer thats up to the person.

As for Persona 3 I personally like the story better, but you might be set back with some of the gameplay mechanics such as you can only give commands to the MC and what not.

  • "Beat this bitch" xD

  • I'm trying to play Persona 4 and still playing it but I'm not even through 10% of it.

  • Honestly... Not trying to sound ignorant. How can you play games that are completely in Japanese and not be able to speak it. I mean how do you know whats going on or what the story is unless you find some kinda translation thing online. But when I play a game in japanese especially japanese I cant do it because I cant read it.

  • Uh I played the American Port of the game dude, I only used Japanese Game Footage because I thats what I found

  • oh okay. I'm sorry. I get it now.

  • I like the way you made this review and I think you should continue with this style.

  • great review. I need to get back into this game

  • yeah, not to kiss ass but alot of reviewers could learn from magus.

    5/5..

  • Nice review, I think his format works well.

  • Good format. The number system is too rigid. The number review doesn't apply to varying tastes but this style of review has more room for personal expression rather than some kind of point system. I still have yet to finish Persona 3. I'm very bad about finishing what I start. I've a backlog of RPG's going back to the 16 bit era. But Persona 3 will be beaten one of these days. It has to be. It's too damn good. And I have high expectations of Persona 4 as well. Remember P1 for PSP soon!

  • amen brother..

  • Well said, I used to use the number system, but not only is rigid imo for youg uys, but its a pain in the ass to for the reviewer too!

  • Yeah, even though I haven't been able to play it much, I am glad that I got it because I have been a fan of the Shin Megami Tensei JRPGs for a long time. Great review!

  • LOL That's why you were on that Nocturne trailer. :XD

I just got 4 about... month ago. I kept saying I thought 3 was better... So very better... Then I played it again... 4 is better, but I kinda like P3's style better.

    Then Devil Summoner 2 came out... Now I'm distracted by that, and Dark Spire. @_@;

    XD

    Nice review, you talk about a lot of good points. Unlike some other reviews. @_@;;;

I must say, though, the even music fit much more in P4.

  • You're playing Dark Spire, too? How far have you gotten?

  • I can barely survive in the basement now, just been grinding when I can play, did nearly all the quests, but the one where I apparently have to gamble...

I am thinking I'll just play it during my lunch hour when I start the semester next week. XD

  • nice review! this is my no. 1 favorite game, no joke! imo, they fixed everything that pissed me off about p3, like controlling all your characters, not having to "request healing", etc. this is the best game ive ever played, but thats just me.

again, great review, keep it up, man.

  • very cool game very good review.

  • I think most of Atlus's RPGs are great for us wRPGers. Shin Megami Tensei itself is a great series. Pretty cool review. Not to sure about the whole simulator thing but if it adds flavor to the game then I don't mind.

  • Brilliant Review Magus, I love the style.

  • I love the new style, use this style more often

  • Love the format dude. I think Persona 4 is a great game, but if I could file one complaint, is that it's shorter than P3.

  • Good job, Magus.

  • wow i am impressed magus, this review was on a completely different level then your usual reviews, i like both styles, but this one is more professional. Good job

  • is the game good for people who are starting out in the RPG genre like me?I've been getting into RPGs,just finshed Dark Spire, been looking into this game.

  • I WOULD be warry, because the game is a bit tricky, but considering you were able to finish the Dark Spire that shouldn't be a problem, so yeah, it would probably be a good game to get, or even the game before it, Persona 3(Preferably the FES version to get the extras)

  • yeah i think so. they have 3 difficulty modes so that allows more people to get into it. the game is very long however, it took me like 90 hours or something.

  • i recommend infinite undiscovery if you have a 360.

  • Comment removed

  • I have been watching the Persona 4 endurance run on Giantbomb and it is great.

I bought the game, but unfortunately two different copies would not work on my slim PS2 when all other games work.

Still,I am getting my fill of it at GB and they are like 90 hours in now....hilarious stuff

  • That was an excellent review, I think the format was great too, it's the seperation between presentation and gameplay is very helpful and an excellent idea.

I agree with you on how the greater freedom of choice makes it a little more like a western rpg. I mostly prefer JRPG's but it's good that the game can utilise good ideas from western games to make a more immersive experience.

  • Fantastic format!

  • love this format of review =D

  • Do you watch noobtoob?

  • I do, every monday. :)

  • Awesome review Magus!!!! :D

Persona 4 improved on allot of things but in terms of story I like the story of Persona 3 better.

  • Awesome review magus! Probably your best yet!

  • Excellent job magus.

  • Nope just really long game!

  • awesome review

  • Good review, but would you say that Persona 4 is better than Persona 3?

  • Like I told Seabas, I liked Persona 3 story a little better then Persona 4, but I really thought the gameplay was better imo!

  • lol when i heard you say johny young bosh i got so happy not only is he a great voice actor but he was a power ranger at one point...no joke

  • yeah keep it up i like the new review format

  • Easily one of my favorite RPG's ever. It was my personal favorite game to come out last year even though it was on the PS2.

BTW Magus, which do you think was better, Persona 3 or Persona 4?

  • I donot know, I liked the Story a little bit better in Persona 3, but I thoguht the gameplay in Persona 4 was better!

  • To me both are almost equal. While Persona 3: FES (08 version) has more replay value and interesting setting, being able to control your party in Persona 4 was a huge improveent. Plus I like murder mystery stories because I just haven't played that type of story in RPG's.

  • Great review! Persona 4 is my favorite game of all time so glad to see you enjoyed it.

  • Nice review, Persona 4 was personally my favorite RPG of 2008.

  • Great review. I really need to find the time to play this!

  • Been waiting for this. Great vids

  • LMFAO! I love this part. 00:46

I liked the way you said that. Haha!

  • I prefer Digital Devil Saga a lot more

  • I have them but I have not played them

  • DDS is one of my favourite games, I just love that game

  • Great review. Persona 4 is awesome and i like how you reviewed it, this is quite different and that's good.
