i think it was Winston Churchill that sent a reply on the enemy. The enemy (who was that german tankcommander again?)asked him to surrender his troops (while the battle has changed to the allied hands) so he sent back "NUTS" as a reply.
It was during the Battle of Bastogne and it was said by American General Anthony McAuliffe to a German tank commander. And the Americans were still completely surrounded and outnumbered when he sent this reply. Which is why it is remembered today..also when the german tank commander asked for clarification they told him to go to hell.
