FFVII pre-story in a nutshell : Every planet within the FFVII universe has a goddess "watching over" it. For gaia, that goddess is Minerva the strongest of the cetra. Her counterpart from another planet is Jenova. Jenova had to flee from her home planet, probably because it was destroyed (Probably by a meteor. xD Oh! The irony!) and she was the only suvivor of her species. Jenova then traveled through the universe searching for a planet with life on it, and she sooner or later discovered gaia...
i have a theory that she is behind the holy materia attack, and that she is the one who communicates with the ancients. basically, she is the "planet"
If I had to guess, which I am, I'd assume that "she" is the Goddess Genesis believes he's refering to in LOVELESS. But hey, that's just a guess - never got to complete Crisis Core 'cause my disk went missing :<

@yanihatake If he existed, he would've appeared in the original game. If he was important, he would've appeared in the OVA "Last Order". He is a poorly placed plot device that was merely mentioned in DoC and made overly important in CC. His actions are not even Canon, therefore, non existint to the core plot of the original story. You do the research.

@yanihatake Hey, if you like eating the bullshit Square shells out for a quick buck, more power to ya. They rode on the FF that made JRPGs popular and mainstream again, and whored it out to hell and back. The integrity of the story has been jeopardized and left unfinished as of DoC, when it was perfectly wrapped up in VII. I've played VII when I was 8-9 years old, and I'm 20 now, I think I know when a good idea goes horribly wrong, and it did, and the central story is beyond ruined.
@yanihatake I can care less what Tetsuya has in store for the future of VII, as I'm not going to buy anything VII related due to how bad he screwed up everything. Making DoC a 3rd person shooter that added 120% more to Vincent's story that was ever needed, and adding 50% of UNNEEDED story to CC. Angeal was Cloud's original character design, and he wanted to use it for one of VII's games (Unneeded story element) and Genesis is a walking void of a plot device, whom makes no sense.
@AzumangaFan13 This is all your opinion, of course. You're entitled to that. However, just because you don't like what the series has come to, that doesn't mean what has been released as canon isn't. Your argument that "Genesis doesn't exist" falls apart at the point you bring your opinion of the new additions of the series to case. True, I hold no authority over VII, but a good story went horribly wrong, and as a dedicated fan to Final Fantasy in general, I find it to be greedy for a company I find to respect, but I find them worse than Capcom now. @yanihatake Truth is, I'm tired of defending VII's original integrity. Genesis was overly important, and now, even more important than Sephiroth. All of CC wrapped up like Genesis didn't matter, but DoC proves otherwise. Overglorifying Zack's story with fluff, and making Vincent's story seem uncompleted at the end of his own game. My argument isn't Genesis, it's how he represents how bad the story is ruined, and him being a horrible plot device.

@Seargent363 I said really mentioned as in he said Zack a few times. He did say that Zack was the one he had put himself in the place of in his memory in Kalm. He said that on the Highwind after he fell in the lifestream in mideel. But all he said was "His name was Zack" or something like that. It wasn't this long story of how Zack was a hero lmao. So you can quit trying to dig that out.
@Seargent363 I honestly like Sephiroth the most, and I think if Sephiroth had took Cloud serious the first time he would have been unchecked. But I don't care what no one says there is no way Seph won't serious after the first time. When those key battles were happening he had to be serious or he was going to lose entirely. So like most Adventure Anime, most JRPG's the hero was the Strongest Being at the end of the story.
Cloud never met Angeal. Unless Zack mentioned him to Cloud, he wouldn't know about him. I don't understand why you're against "passing on the legacy". If you look at it without being biased against anything but the original FFVII, it's a good part of the story. When Zack passed his sword to Cloud, Zack became like his hero (Angeal). Simultaneously, Cloud became like Zack, in the sense that he not only received the Buster Sword, but the ideals of the person he got it from.
@KazekageOfTheFunk Its the fact it made some of the original game not make sense. I don't think Cloud acted like Zack at all in FF7 other then his fighting style or poses and the squats. He never wanted to be some hero. He just wanted to get the job done. If it had been anyone other then Sephiroth Cloud probably would have said fucket I don't care I need "4500... 5000 Gil." And Barret woulda said "#*$&*# thats all my Money For Marlene School'n"
Cloud's mind was srewed up after mako poisoning, and the trauma of seeing Zack die. Cloud didn't remember Zack, but he subconciously remembers what Zack planned to do(go to Midgar and be a guy that does all kinds of jobs). Zack matured at the end of C.C., and didn't care about being a 'hero'. He just cared about being honorable. It's been eight years since I've played FFVII, but I think Cloud acted more like a terrorists. I'll admit, Cloud was un-Zackish at FFVII's beginning.
@KazekageOfTheFunk he was "un-Zackish" the whole way, what game did you play? Even when he regained his memories he wasn't like Zack. He just wanted to stop Sephiroth, and avenge Aerith. He was doing it to settle his past not to be honourable. And if its been 8 years you need to replay. Because your memory is foggy.
At the beginning of the game Cloud didn't care about the Planet. However, towards the end he did. The game I played was Final Fantasy VII. I'm aware that I need to replay, and I would play it again, but I don't have it. It wasn't my game.
Like I said, I don't have it. I've searched every game selling store within driving distance, but no luck. Do you know where I could get it? I've found a few copies online, but they're used and I'm skeptical about buying off the net. I've played CC. I'm not a fan of the battle mechanics. I liked materia fusion and battles in general, but the slot machine was annoying as hell(calling forth the apocalypse on a nearly dead snake. wtf?). It's not bad, but it lacks in replay value.
@KazekageOfTheFunk Actually I have bought a few classics off of Ebay such as Lunar Silver Star Story complete collectors edition, and Suikoden 2. I'm not saying do it, but I have used it. Just make sure you check the reputation of the seller before purchase. But if you have a PS3 you can download it off the PS store.
@AzumangaFan13 I know :/ I played Final Fantasy 7 way way back around the time it came out. Granted, right now I'm only 20, so I was only like 6 or 7 at the time, but I've been a faithful fan to Final Fantasy 7 for almost 15 years now.

I believe it's nice fan service for the VI characters to get a nice movie, the story wasn't breaking the whole storyline, and it was a nice feature. The way they implemented Angeal and Genesis into the story was less than satisfactory, because they make Genesis VITAL and OVERLY important to the continuation of the VII storyline, and DoC was just something to cash in from AC's success. If you like this shit, go ahead.

No character in a prequel should be more important than the real villain of the game, and right now, he's more of a problem than Sephiroth. THAT is fucked up.
@Seargent363 I was actually waiting to see if they would go like how Last Order went. Having to protect Cloud with just your fists at one point, racing away on Motorcycle, being on the back of the truck with Cloud for that famous scene, then the final battle for Zack's life.

I thought it was weird too, but I notticed while watching Advent Children that he makes Masamune suddenly materialize in his hands. I think he can leave Masamune wherever he wants, and summon it when he needs it. Why else would he leave Masamune sticking out of President Shinra's back?

Then the remains started travelling in the form of Sephiroth to the northen cave with the Cloak Clones. Because Sephiroth's real body was at the Great Northern Cave the whole time in that big ass Materia Crystal.
@UchihaGamer111 That still doesn't change that Masamune ended up in Shinra's back. lol The whole thing of Jenova was manipulation, so that could have just been a trick and not the real Masamune.

I know for a fact that the Sephiroth you are chasing the whole time to the crater is Jenova though. Because when you fight Jenova Death in the whirl wind maze Cloud finally realises it. So its probably not the true masamune the real one is probably in the lifestream or w/e.
@UchihaGamer111 Well, yeah, you're basically chasing Jenova. lol Sephiroth decided his plan should be put into motion since Cloud was so close to Jenova when he was in the Shinra building that if Jenova took the form of him, he would undoubtedly chase him all the way to the Northern Crater with the Black Materia. Yeah, Jenova is just sneaky as hell like that, so a making a fake Masamune is like snapping her fingers compared to manipulating the Cetra by mimicking them to destroy them as well.
@KazekageOfTheFunk When it comes to AC, I think that was just a good "bad ass" moment for bringing back Sephiroth. It was the climax of the entire movie, of course the return of f#@*ing Sephiroth would have something awesome like that happen. As I just replied to UchihaGamer, that Masamune that was Shinra's back was probably a fake copy created by Jenova and when she escaped. Sephiroth still had the real Masamune when he was crystallized.
Yeah, that sounds right. Sorry about that. I don't know if you can answer this, but did Sephiroth control Jenova, or was it the other way around? I remember Jenova shapeshifting and breaking out because Sephiroth started the reunion. Did she do that on her own? I vaguely remember finding Sephiroth after saving a dolphin, and the Aeris thing, and the last fight, but that's about it. And I remember buying a house. It's been eight years, so my FFVII knowledge is lacking a bit.
@KazekageOfTheFunk When Sephiroth fell into the lifestream, he absorbed so much knowledge from the Cetra and the planet's history itself that his will became even greater an influence over Jenova's. So, Jenova was actually being controlled by Sephiroth, and Sephiroth initiated the Reunion process. You bought the house in Costa del Sol? Awesome lol Not many people know about that. If you have the chance, you should revisit VII again. I did another playthrough about 2 months ago. lol

I was dissapointed that I couldn't actually do anything with it, but it was worth it for the sheer humor of buying a house when the world is about to meet it's doom. The comedy in this game is great. Did you meet Mukki in a specific room at the Honeybee Inn? I didn't do it, but I've been told that Cloud gets....well, Cloud passed out and awakened in pain with Mukki on top of him...That can't be good lol

@megastupidkids That's just a CGI video. It's recorded/a video, and therefore doesn't use much processing power, whereas the actual gaming is in real-time and your playing has to be rendered. Not even a high-end PC can render games at current CGI levels with a good framerate... not nearly.
Oh, my god, look at him right at minute 1:11. He looks just like a child whose lollipop's just been taken away. Like really, really, sad, and disappointed... Makes me wanna cry. He is a poorly placed plot device that was merely mentioned in DoC and made overly important in CC. His actions are not even Canon, therefore, non existint to the core plot of the original story. They rode on the FF that made JRPGs popular and mainstream again, and whored it out to hell and back. The integrity of the story has been jeopardized and left unfinished as of DoC, when it was perfectly wrapped up in VII. I've played VII when I was 8-9 years old, and I'm 20 now, I think I know when a good idea goes horribly wrong, and it did, and the central story is beyond ruined.

@yanihatake I can care less what Tetsuya has in store for the future of VII, as I'm not going to buy anything VII related due to how bad he screwed up everything. Making DoC a 3rd person shooter that added 120% more to Vincent's story that was ever needed, and adding 50% of UNNEEDED story to CC. Angeal was Cloud's original character design, and he wanted to use it for one of VII's games (Unneeded story element) and Genesis is a walking void of a plot device, whom makes no sense.

True, I hold no authority over VII, but a good story went horribly wrong, and as a dedicated fan to Final Fantasy in general, I find it to be greedy for a company I find to respect, but I find them worse than Capcom now. @yanihatake Truth is, I'm tired of defending VII's original integrity. Genesis was overly important, and now, even more important than Sephiroth. All of CC wrapped up like Genesis didn't matter, but DoC proves otherwise. Overglorifying Zack's story with fluff, and making Vincent's story seem uncompleted at the end of his own game. My argument isn't Genesis, it's how he represents how bad the story is ruined, and him being a horrible plot device.

But I don't care what no one says there is no way Seph won't serious after the first time. When those key battles were happening he had to be serious or he was going to lose entirely. So like most Adventure Anime, most JRPG's the hero was the Strongest Being at the end of the story.

Cloud never met Angeal. Unless Zack mentioned him to Cloud, he wouldn't know about him. I don't understand why you're against "passing on the legacy". If you look at it without being biased against anything but the original FFVII, it's a good part of the story. When Zack passed his sword to Cloud, Zack became like his hero (Angeal). Simultaneously, Cloud became like Zack, in the sense that he not only received the Buster Sword, but the ideals of the person he got it from.

Cloud's mind was srewed up after mako poisoning, and the trauma of seeing Zack die. Cloud didn't remember Zack, but he subconciously remembers what Zack planned to do(go to Midgar and be a guy that does all kinds of jobs). Zack matured at the end of C.C., and didn't care about being a 'hero'. He just cared about being honorable. It's been eight years since I've played FFVII, but I think Cloud acted more like a terrorists. I'll admit, Cloud was un-Zackish at FFVII's beginning.

I've found a few copies online, but they're used and I'm skeptical about buying off the net. I've played CC. I'm not a fan of the battle mechanics. I liked materia fusion and battles in general, but the slot machine was annoying as hell(calling forth the apocalypse on a nearly dead snake. wtf?). It's not bad, but it lacks in replay value.

2) Played Crisis Core because it was readily available on the PSP and it involved VII.
Or, a combination of the two.
VERY FEW go out of their way to actually play VII, the amount of pure ignorant idiots I ran into have insurmountably proved that.

I believe it's nice fan service for the VI characters to get a nice movie, the story wasn't breaking the whole storyline, and it was a nice feature. The way they implemented Angeal and Genesis into the story was less than satisfactory, because they make Genesis VITAL and OVERLY important to the continuation of the VII storyline, and DoC was just something to cash in from AC's success. Then the remains started travelling in the form of Sephiroth to the northen cave with the Cloak Clones. Because Sephiroth's real body was at the Great Northern Cave the whole time in that big ass Materia Crystal.

I know for a fact that the Sephiroth you are chasing the whole time to the crater is Jenova though. Because when you fight Jenova Death in the whirl wind maze Cloud finally realises it. So its probably not the true masamune the real one is probably in the lifestream or w/e.

Yeah, Jenova is just sneaky as hell like that, so a making a fake Masamune is like snapping her fingers compared to manipulating the Cetra by mimicking them to destroy them as well.

It was the climax of the entire movie, of course the return of f#@*ing Sephiroth would have something awesome like that happen. As I just replied to UchihaGamer, that Masamune that was Shinra's back was probably a fake copy created by Jenova and when she escaped. Sephiroth still had the real Masamune when he was crystallized.

Yeah, that sounds right. Sorry about that. I don't know if you can answer this, but did Sephiroth control Jenova, or was it the other way around? I remember Jenova shapeshifting and breaking out because Sephiroth started the reunion. Did she do that on her own? I vaguely remember finding Sephiroth after saving a dolphin, and the Aeris thing, and the last fight, but that's about it. And I remember buying a house. It's been eight years, so my FFVII knowledge is lacking a bit.

@KazekageOfTheFunk When Sephiroth fell into the lifestream, he absorbed so much knowledge from the Cetra and the planet's history itself that his will became even greater an influence over Jenova's. So, Jenova was actually being controlled by Sephiroth, and Sephiroth initiated the Reunion process. You bought the house in Costa del Sol? Awesome lol Not many people know about that. If you have the chance, you should revisit VII again. I did another playthrough about 2 months ago. lol

@megastupidkids That's just a CGI video. It's recorded/a video, and therefore doesn't use much processing power, whereas the actual gaming is in real-time and your playing has to be rendered. Not even a high-end PC can render games at current CGI levels with a good framerate... not nearly.

Oh, my god, look at him right at minute 1:11. He looks just like a child whose lollipop's just been taken away. Like really, really, sad, and disappointed... Makes me wanna cry. Even if I hated him (and I REALLY did), I wasn't expecting even the goddes turning her back on him. He seems so defenseless...

@Mariposateufel How can you hate Genesis in my own opinion he and Zack are the best in the game if you think about how well they developed them both as a hero and a villian who really wasnt that evil
