i think baptism was a outward sign of your being saved. you are saved by faith but faith without works is dead, a simple washing couldnt forgive u of sin because anyone can do that so peter says the washing doesnt save you. i think calling upon the name of the lord (prayer) was associated with the early baptism ritual and repentence was also associated with it.

well just to clear up. why would someone get baptized before they were saved. why would paul be told to get baptized first before he was saved.....makes no sense. You call on the name of the lord at the moment of baptism. acts 2:28, and the other ones he mentioned proves that baptism is needed. i know this man disagrees but he is wrong.

First believe and repent to be saved .then next is baptism to be identified with JC.
