What nerve! He is talking about taking care of veterans while he DOES NOT SUPPORT increasing funds for the GI Bill to keep it current with rising costs of education. This man is a bag of hot air. As I said earlier, what a joke.
McCain is for Amnesty, the REAL ID/Biometrics/National ID Card, the TTC, the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) with Canada and Mexico, the NAU, and for giving up our Sovereignty (which will lead to loss of gun rights, right to own property, to travel and mover about freely, as well as Habeas Corpus, Posse Comitatus, the Bill of Rights, our Constitution, etc). We would also be subject to an International Tribunal. Oh, and Obama and Hillary are for all of these things as well! :(
McCain is the only candidate fit for our presidency and instead of fighting and bitching like the idiotic dems, he is focusing on what America needs and is ready to take on its problems. This man is a patriot and a true American.
Hey John, before the LSD wears off and your pleasant fantasy of re-doing the 60s goes "poof", why don't we just abandon your 10 year Iraq war plan and re-invade Vietnam and win that one.
Those who do not study history...
10 FUCKING YEARS ? STRAIGHT TALK ? YOU KNOW GODDAMN WELL YOU WON'T END IT IN 10 YEARS!
Handshakes seal deals, ask 'Ole Rummy what I mean, K? Tacit permissiveness by our past mistakes do, in NO WAY, lay a course of sound reason for repeating those mistakes today. Did you know Yoo thinks Bush could be impeached --- for BLOWing the JOB of Commander in Chief.
And you said, "...the world today is a safest place since Bush has been in office. period. " Is this why acts of terrorism have been on the rise world wide since Bush's Reign and his War of Terrorism?
so you think if we had did nothing after 9/11 that there would have been no other acts of terrorism? and maybe i should have said america is a safer place and not the world. you cant say that you dont feel better knowing that a crazy dictator like saddam is out of power. whether you think so or not bottom line your still able to sit at your computer desk searching youtube vids in the safety of your home
How can you be so ignorant? Brzezinski CREATED and FUNDED the "anti-Soviet Afghan forces" - now known as "al-Qaeda" - with th help of the CIA and Carter's full knowledge! He's quite proud of it in his book, The Grand Chessboard...perhaps America should spend more money on education than war.
slyb, SO you think it was more advantageous for the US to ATTACK THE WRONG COUNTRY merely to get rid of Saddam even though he was totally contained and presented zero imminent threat to the US at a time when Osama Bin Laden was taking refuge in ANOTHER country? By the way, he's still there and Informed people view him as far more dangerous to US interests than Saddam(who we installed) ever could have been.
Now we have the distinction of having brought down the wrath of the world upon us.
Not really debating anyone's point but I thought it relevent to mention that Saddam was even a consistant pain in the side for Bill Clinton. Anyone could see that conflict was headed for another escalation at some point. I don't care who was president. It was bound to happen eventually.
dj, My neighbor is a pain in my side but I'm not going to invade his home, kill his family and wage a decade long war that bankrupts my own family and me and kills my own son. If my enemy is contained and no longer a substantial threat to me, I'm not wasting valuable resources and lives especially if there is an actual threat that I'm ignoring down the block.
A pain in the side doesn't call for the debacle we've been in now with NO END REMOTELY IN SIGHT.
yea, Mccain saying the war will be over by 2013 is a "departure date"...and Brez, nothing to be gained by the war in Iraq? pretty sure Saddam murdered thousands and thousands of his own people with chemical weapons only to lay them in mass graves like Hitler in the Holocaust. nothing to be gained..dont be a fool...the world today is a safest place since Bush has been in office. period. i dont care what rather, malveaux, jennings or any of the other liberal bias pukes you watch on tv have to say.
SlyBone, more Iraqis have died because of this war than died in the 20+ years of Saddam's rule. Plus, 4000 American troops have been killed.
Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 or Al Queda. Ron Paul is right. Our foreign policy has consequences. Just read the 9/11 Commission Report. America is more hated today than before the war and this war will likely spur a new generation of terrorists.
IBC (Iraq the Body Count) is credited (by the MSM as having the only known reliable body count in Iraq. Its on the net. They list the current total at around 85,000. That number is far below the estimated 150-200,000 Sadam murdered. Most of the "new generation" of terrorists died in Iraq or have since moved to Pakistan. Germany, France and England all have pro new pro US governments. Most muslims have turned against terrorism. And the fundamentlists are on the decline world wide. Keep up to date
Saddam was murdering thousands of Iraqi people, but only from 1979-1992. Ivading Iraq in 2003 to stop the killings would be like invading Rwanda today to stop the genocide.
We're safer today because of actions of the Bush administration? The facts show otherwise:
# of international terror attacks in 2001: 346
# of deaths in 2001: 3547
# of international terror attacks in 2006: 14,000
The National terrorism center that released the report stated that that they are using an entirely new method of accounting for terrorist attacks and that the report for 2005 and later should not be used for comparison with earlier years. Thier coverage is now much more widespread and areas that have been ignored before are now being counted. Just thought you'd like to know.
gerry301, I'm all-for McCain, and I'm pro-war. I totally agree with you. I just laugh at anti-war people because I can't imagine what this country would be like if they were in-charge. Our government isn't stupid, but the people are.
I'm not pro war and was not for the invasion to begin with. But to invade, tear down a dictatorship and disband the military and leave the people helpless to protect themselves is criminal, without building another government and providing for the security of that countries people. Most anti war people are like the bystander who watches the old lady get mugged and will do nothing to help, but when the medics arrive will complain about why it took so long and everything else they did wrong.
i love how common-people think their votes and opinions matter. Don't you people know by now that the government does what it wants, despite how we feel?
McCain is correct and Obama is the candidate of a Vietnam policy that lost the US so much respect around the world. A repeat of what happened in Vietnam would be wonderfull for all the antiwar protesters, but a disaster for the country.
The prestige and reputation of the U.S. has plummeted because the government choose to wage the Iraq War, not because some politicians are now considering an exit strategy. The same was true of the Vietnam War. Consult any international poll to confirm this.
U.S. withdrawal from Vietnam was only disastrous for warmongering politicians who couldn't wage aggressive wars again for a few years due to "Vietnam Syndrome." What a tragedy that was...
I have no doubt Mr.Brezhnev that you would love to see the US abandon Iraq. You would probobly cheer as the Russians or Chinese moved into the vacuum and picked up with the new caliphate of Iraq. Of course supplieing arms and getting a few oil contracts wouldn't hurt either.
Yay, an ad hominem AND a non sequitor! gerry301, you sure are a "special" one...
You called me out though, I'm actually an undercover Marxist-Islamist arms dealer on YouTube to convince loyal Americans to not listen to brave George W. Bush and John McCain's eloquently thought-out arguments to "stay the course" indefinitely so I can personally profit my Russo-Chinese overlords...
Too late to say that. The US has already lost a lot of respect around the world. We must stay an "honor" bound country no matter how wrong we are, we have to save face. Yeah right! Iraqi's can run their country better then we can. There are many Iraqi's wanting us out because we are only impeding progress in their country.
The loss of respect for the US due to the invasion of Iraq has largely passed with pro US leaders being elected in Germany, France and England as well. I have no disagreement with you that the invasion was wrong to begin with. However we toppled the government and disbanded the military. I think we have a responsibility to insure the new government elected by the Iraqis has the ability to provide security for its people. The world is watching closely to see if the US will abandon Iraq.
I noticed that he did not say anything about domestic policy. Maybe that came after this. We may be facing an economic crisis during this term. What is his plan for dealing with that?
I like how he nods as if to say "okay, this is the part where you applaude". lol
Did McCain consult a psychic or something? How does he know all this stuff will happen? No matter how much our troops do for our part, if the Iraqis don't do their part, these goals will not be met.
You are wrong on both counts. Most of what he is saying is happening (If you have a credible news source). The Iraqis are doing thier part, and it is coming together. The goals are being met, but not on the US congresses schedule. (Please tell me of any schedule the US congress has met). The Iraqi army is standing up and the Iraqi government is growing stronger.
Most of the combat troops will be out much sooner or at least no longer involved in combat as the Iraqi army is now moving into that job. The primary reasons the US will stay are for logistics, intelligence, and training.
He doesn't even say all, simply "most of the servicemen and women". The occupation will continue for decades until Peak Oil finally brings the world to ruin.
I suppose under your definition we are still occupiers in Japan, Germany, and South Korea. It is reasonable and wise to have a continued presence in a country that has been liberated for a time to insure interferance from outside its borders.
what a horribly unprofessional audience! where was the cue card guy with the Applause card? The audience was late applauding every time, po'Mc Ancient had to clear his throat a couple times to cue them himself! I heard it was hard times for the GOP but they can't afford a highschool student, a piece of cardboard and a sharpie?
Don't let a socialist like Barrack Hussein Obama control this country, then the idiot will take all your money and give it to people to lazy to get off their fat asses and work.
Yes...yes... war is peace... failure is success... I see all those predictions coming true... and I also see roses blooming from McCain's ass... by 2013, of course... and then I also see in my crystal ball the American people waking up to the reality of the authoritarian fascist takeover of their country and the destruction of their Bill of Rights and Constitution. I'm so distraught, I just might have to start thinking about giving up golf... tomorrow... maybe...
I think you need a history lesson on the Vietnam war. You also need to understand the media during the Vietnam war as well as the draft. Thier is no draft in this war and all are volunteers. The media has been sidelined by the internet. The US soldiers have won in Iraq as they did in Vietnam. But the draft evaders and MSM no longer have any effect, as much as the MSM has tried. The danger is having politicians repeat what happened in Vietnam for thier own political purpose.
Declaring victory in the middle of a determined insurgent campaign...hmm, reminds me of somebody else, wearing a flight suit, on an aircraft carrier...
Stop spreading such nonsense gerry301--a major power can win every battle in a guerilla war yet lose the war overall. The revisionist here is you; it is in fact the wise politicians who are seeking a way out of an unwinnable war that expends enormous amounts of blood and treasure for no apparant gain.
The US and Iraqi army are conducting classic counter insugency tactics and they have been working quite well. First clear the area of bad guys. Provide security, then rebuild and provide services. The insurgents too many times have brutalized the neighborhoods they were in and have lost all support from the people. Hence Basra and now Sadr city are glad to be rid of the terrorists and having peace and public order restored. In fact it is happening throughout Iraq.
Yeah, the counter-insurgency campaign is working so well that the war that was expected to last "weeks, months at most" has now lasted more than five years. Additionally, without a political solution for Iraq's future, any and all military victories are irrelevant.
The political process in Iraq is evolving and moving ahead. Both Sunnis and Kurds have expressed a willingness to continue the process with the Shia led government.
Hmm, haven't they done that in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 as well? I'll believe the so-called political progress when I see it, and I don't see it. Most informed commentators that aren't Bush Administration props don't see it coming in the near future either.
By the way, the Kurds are willing to "continue the process" because it has had and may not have any impact on their own de facto independence. Look at the KRG and tell me if Iraq is a united state. The reasonable answer is "no"
I guess the only way to determine which of us is correct is to see how it all turns out in the future. I respect your right to disagree. But I do hope for the sake of the Iraqi people, you are wrong. Time will tell.
I suppose we will have to wait and see, but considering how often George W. Bush and John McCain have been wrong on this war, I am inclined not to believe their current assessments and predictions. In the end, Iraqis--not Americans or other foreigners--will decide the fate of Iraq.
You are right, it will be the Iraqis who will decide the fate of thier country. I believe that is now thier choice. It was a choice they did not have before.
I was not for the invasion to begin with, even though all our congressmen/women at the time were telling us how bad Sadam was and that we needed to take him out. As far as I am concerned every congressman/women who voted for us to go to war including those who initiated it should never be allowed to hold public office again. Now as far as what is really happening in Iraq, yes, the Iraqi people voted for who they wanted to run thier government. It was not "hand picked" by the US.
Just a quick follow-up. The AP posted an article yesterday that "the tipping point may have been reached and the war against Sadr, Al Qaeda, the insurgents, etc etc may be won". I knew this was coming in February of 2007 and here it is june 2008. People rely on the media for accurate reporting, and the media has failed miserably.
Bullshit dumb fuck. Read "inside the green zone" by Dahr Jamil and you'll find the real truth about what ius happening in Iraq. He is an umbedded journalist in Iraq that doesn't skew facts for the Media. Stop listening to the Bush administration that lied to us by saying their were W.M.D.S. in Iraq
Most of the news I get from Iraq is from embeded journalists. In fact several of them who have been reporting on the war for a number of years now and doing it through contributions. If you want me to read a book about the green zone, I suspect it was written at the least last year or earlier. The country was at its worst then. Its a whole new ballgame now. LOL, why is it that every one who knows that the troops are winning are "Bushies". Are you capable of separating the war from the politics?
How is it a whole new ball game. The country is still bad now and isn't getting much better. We are now in a 9 trillion!!! dollar debt because of this war. Our economy is in the shit hole and innocent iraq civilians are dying everyday. The troops aren't winning. We wouldn't have been in this in the first place if it weren't for bush's lies. This war profited cheneys company Haliburton and now we are paying for it.
South Africa has taken the lead as worst country for civilian deaths by over 50%. Afganistan is now killing more US troops than Iraq. The economy is in the ***hole because of the subprime mortgage debacle and the high price of oil. I could care less about "Bush and Cheney". They are your hang up, not mine. I'm only interested in what the troops are doing in Iraq and Afganistan and is it making a difference. So far so good.
Bush and cheney created this mess. And not against the troops but we are doing a shit job in Iraq.WE have only taken down the man we have appointed. Are national security i still as threatened as it was post and pre 9/11.
Read Sadams history, We "the Cia" did not appoint Sadam. I am sure we are still threatened, but have not been attacked since 9/11. In the interum the terrorist have lost much favor throughout the mideast and are on the retreat.
YOu believe we are victorious in Iraq, what pathetic bullshit dude. Look up your facts, we obviously haven't won. And what are we trying to win. COntrol over the oil companies in Iraq.
I believe the Iraqi government is determining who will get the oil contracts. I do expect the US to get many, as they have the best expertise and resources worldwide as well as Europe. But I'm sure Russia and China will get thier share as well.
No, they were sent to invade because of WMDs and other reasons. I believe after they found no WMDs, the administration changed it to building a democracy. Those are some of the politics of the war. It is not the war itself.
Boy McShame, its gotta be tough to be on the wrong side of every arguement. First of all, 2013 is a timetable, you know, one of those things you and you McShamies have been strongly against. Second problem, what are the odds that you'll actually make it that long? OBAMA 08'

what a horribly unprofessional audience! where was the cue card guy with the Applause card? The audience was late applauding every time, po'Mc Ancient had to clear his throat a couple times to cue them himself! I heard it was hard times for the GOP but they can't afford a highschool student, a piece of cardboard and a sharpie?

Don't let a socialist like Barrack Hussein Obama control this country, then the idiot will take all your money and give it to people to lazy to get off their fat asses and work.

2013 ... magical unicorns will replace cars ... war will be peace ... old will be young again ... politicians will be grounded in reality ...
bringonthegoons 3 years ago 2
Yes...yes... war is peace... failure is success... I see all those predictions coming true... and I also see roses blooming from McCain's ass... by 2013, of course... and then I also see in my crystal ball the American people waking up to the reality of the authoritarian fascist takeover of their country and the destruction of their Bill of Rights and Constitution. I'm so distraught, I just might have to start thinking about giving up golf... tomorrow... maybe...

He's not advocating a timetable you imbeciles, he is simply saying that the US will win the war, not leave with the job half finished.

We have already lost.
keithThorton 3 years ago
We,ve won. How can you believe we lost?
gerry301 3 years ago
Yeah, we sure won the Iraq War, just like we "won" that Vietnam War!
BrezhnevIsMyCoPilot 3 years ago
I think you need a history lesson on the Vietnam war. You also need to understand the media during the Vietnam war as well as the draft. Thier is no draft in this war and all are volunteers. The media has been sidelined by the internet. The US soldiers have won in Iraq as they did in Vietnam. But the draft evaders and MSM no longer have any effect, as much as the MSM has tried. The danger is having politicians repeat what happened in Vietnam for thier own political purpose.
gerry301 3 years ago
Declaring victory in the middle of a determined insurgent campaign...hmm, reminds me of somebody else, wearing a flight suit, on an aircraft carrier...
Stop spreading such nonsense gerry301--a major power can win every battle in a guerilla war yet lose the war overall. The revisionist here is you; it is in fact the wise politicians who are seeking a way out of an unwinnable war that expends enormous amounts of blood and treasure for no apparant gain.
BrezhnevIsMyCoPilot 3 years ago
The US and Iraqi army are conducting classic counter insugency tactics and they have been working quite well. First clear the area of bad guys. Provide security, then rebuild and provide services. The insurgents too many times have brutalized the neighborhoods they were in and have lost all support from the people. Hence Basra and now Sadr city are glad to be rid of the terrorists and having peace and public order restored. In fact it is happening throughout Iraq.
gerry301 3 years ago
Yeah, the counter-insurgency campaign is working so well that the war that was expected to last "weeks, months at most" has now lasted more than five years. Additionally, without a political solution for Iraq's future, any and all military victories are irrelevant.
Go and sell your snake oil somewhere else.
BrezhnevIsMyCoPilot 3 years ago
The political process in Iraq is evolving and moving ahead. Both Sunnis and Kurds have expressed a willingness to continue the process with the Shia led government.
gerry301 3 years ago
Hmm, haven't they done that in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 as well? I'll believe the so-called political progress when I see it, and I don't see it. Most informed commentators that aren't Bush Administration props don't see it coming in the near future either.
By the way, the Kurds are willing to "continue the process" because it has had and may not have any impact on their own de facto independence. Look at the KRG and tell me if Iraq is a united state. The reasonable answer is "no"
BrezhnevIsMyCoPilot 3 years ago
I guess the only way to determine which of us is correct is to see how it all turns out in the future. I respect your right to disagree. But I do hope for the sake of the Iraqi people, you are wrong. Time will tell.
gerry301 3 years ago
I suppose we will have to wait and see, but considering how often George W. Bush and John McCain have been wrong on this war, I am inclined not to believe their current assessments and predictions. In the end, Iraqis--not Americans or other foreigners--will decide the fate of Iraq.
BrezhnevIsMyCoPilot 3 years ago
You are right, it will be the Iraqis who will decide the fate of thier country. I believe that is now thier choice. It was a choice they did not have before.
gerry301 3 years ago
How is it their choice now. We have invaded their country and now made a pro-democracy gov with leaders that we chose.
GoGrEeN4eArTh 3 years ago
I was not for the invasion to begin with, even though all our congressmen/women at the time were telling us how bad Sadam was and that we needed to take him out. As far as I am concerned every congressman/women who voted for us to go to war including those who initiated it should never be allowed to hold public office again. Now as far as what is really happening in Iraq, yes, the Iraqi people voted for who they wanted to run thier government. It was not "hand picked" by the US.
gerry301 3 years ago
Just a quick follow-up. The AP posted an article yesterday that "the tipping point may have been reached and the war against Sadr, Al Qaeda, the insurgents, etc etc may be won". I knew this was coming in February of 2007 and here it is june 2008. People rely on the media for accurate reporting, and the media has failed miserably.
gerry301 3 years ago
Bullshit dumb fuck. Read "inside the green zone" by Dahr Jamil and you'll find the real truth about what ius happening in Iraq. He is an umbedded journalist in Iraq that doesn't skew facts for the Media. Stop listening to the Bush administration that lied to us by saying their were W.M.D.S. in Iraq
GoGrEeN4eArTh 3 years ago
Most of the news I get from Iraq is from embeded journalists. In fact several of them who have been reporting on the war for a number of years now and doing it through contributions. If you want me to read a book about the green zone, I suspect it was written at the least last year or earlier. The country was at its worst then. Its a whole new ballgame now. LOL, why is it that every one who knows that the troops are winning are "Bushies". Are you capable of separating the war from the politics?
gerry301 3 years ago
How is it a whole new ball game. The country is still bad now and isn't getting much better. We are now in a 9 trillion!!! dollar debt because of this war. Our economy is in the shit hole and innocent iraq civilians are dying everyday. The troops aren't winning. We wouldn't have been in this in the first place if it weren't for bush's lies. This war profited cheneys company Haliburton and now we are paying for it.
GoGrEeN4eArTh 3 years ago
South Africa has taken the lead as worst country for civilian deaths by over 50%. Afganistan is now killing more US troops than Iraq. The economy is in the ***hole because of the subprime mortgage debacle and the high price of oil. I could care less about "Bush and Cheney". They are your hang up, not mine. I'm only interested in what the troops are doing in Iraq and Afganistan and is it making a difference. So far so good.
gerry301 3 years ago
Bush and cheney created this mess. And not against the troops but we are doing a shit job in Iraq.WE have only taken down the man we have appointed. Are national security i still as threatened as it was post and pre 9/11.
GoGrEeN4eArTh 3 years ago
Read Sadams history, We "the Cia" did not appoint Sadam. I am sure we are still threatened, but have not been attacked since 9/11. In the interum the terrorist have lost much favor throughout the mideast and are on the retreat.

hey as a usmc and friends in a iraq FUCK YOU what the hell are you doing sitting on a FUCKING comp fuck you
batch440 3 years ago
YOu believe we are victorious in Iraq, what pathetic bullshit dude. Look up your facts, we obviously haven't won. And what are we trying to win. COntrol over the oil companies in Iraq.
GoGrEeN4eArTh 3 years ago
I believe the Iraqi government is determining who will get the oil contracts. I do expect the US to get many, as they have the best expertise and resources worldwide as well as Europe. But I'm sure Russia and China will get thier share as well.
gerry301 3 years ago
That is what soldiers and troops are dying for not for democracy in Iraq.
GoGrEeN4eArTh 3 years ago
No, they were sent to invade because of WMDs and other reasons. I believe after they found no WMDs, the administration changed it to building a democracy. Those are some of the politics of the war. It is not the war itself.
gerry301 3 years ago
LOL, can you name an oil company in Iraq?
gerry301 3 years ago
Iraq national oil company
GoGrEeN4eArTh 3 years ago
And the US controls the "Iraq National oil company?"
gerry301 3 years ago
Boy McShame, its gotta be tough to be on the wrong side of every arguement. First of all, 2013 is a timetable, you know, one of those things you and you McShamies have been strongly against. Second problem, what are the odds that you'll actually make it that long? OBAMA 08'

Matthews: "You believe the Iraqis will treat us as liberators?"
McCain: "Absolutely." 3/12/03
"I think the victory will be rapid, about 3 weeks." 1/28/03
Fox: "Many argue the conflict isn't over."
McCain: "Then why was there a banner that said Mission Accomplished on the aircraft carrier?" 6/11/03
"We're on the right course." 3/7/04
"We'll be there a 100, 1,000, a million years" 1/08
