Well I will be honest here, I have looked at the cast at IMDB, and I am not impressed. Jordan Sparks cannot in her wildest dreams ever replace the young Vonetta McGee. There should have been an open casting call for that important role. So would I go to see it? Hello, the original Sparkle has my undying support, I will take no replacements.

@kyasst and one more thing, the original movie Sparkle wasn't that good to begin with, horrible editing, weak overall reviews, it just became a cult classic but it was not considered a masterpiece. Thank GOD they will remake it and bring it to another level. It was watchable but far from perfect, so get a clue, they are not remaking Godfater or Gone with The Wind, just an average movie Sparkle that has potential for a LOT of improvement. See ya :)

Aaliyah was destined to star in a remake of this film and was cast as Sparkle i believe had she lived she would have won an Academy Award for Best Actress or nominated it is a strong but believable prediction. The remake would have came out in November 2004

Whitney's production company had rights to remake this, but they cancelled it after because babygirl wouldn't be able remake. Thanks so much for posting this "Classic Movie" Sister-Lionette McGee was absolutely beautiful in this film.! Just love this movie all of them were beautiful. This is "real acting" The transition that sista went through in this movie was so sad. Still one of my all time favorite movies.

Aaliyah was destined to star in a remake of this film and was cast as Sparkle i believe had she lived she would have won an Academy Award for Best Actress or nominated it is a strong but believable prediction. The remake would have came out in November 2004

Aaliyah would of been fabulous in this. She was meant to play Sparkle but after her passing they cancelled the movie. Whitney's production company had rights to remake this, but they cancelled it after because babygirl wouldn't be able remake. NO ELSE would suit this Sparkle character, so they best no even try to do a remake. This would have been Aaliyah's oscar moment!

@Jwarr3n91 We've had enough of Beyonce. Beyonce already did "Dreamgirls" with Jennifer Hudson stealing the show. Aaliyah needed to play either Sparkle or Sister because she had that type of natural slim, long haired, classic beauty appearance that they had. She probably was going to play Sister because she already recorded "Giving Up (Is So Hard To Do)". This movie would have been hers, she would have owned it. She did good in "Romeo Must Die" and she killed "Queen of the Damned".

if they go thru with a remake i say for Sparkle: Teairra Mari, Christina Milian, ashanti, Karina Pasian,Tiffany Evans, or Lisa from American Idol. For Sister: Alicia Keys, Mya, and for Delores: Naturi Naughton (from Notorious played Lil Kim & 3LW)

@JERRiCKKABaBy I like your choices, and I always said, if they were going to do a remake of Sparkle, have a twist in it, and have someone who was in the original movie be in the new one, in the cast, so I was thinking that Lonette McKee could this time play the mother of all three girls, I think she could pull it off, or is she still too stunning for producers to have her as the Mother.
