If the series had run as long as it deserved and had a proper ending, after all the tricks Diego and Zorro have played on Garcia through the years, think it would have been sweet if Zorro had presented the Sergeant with the 1500 pesos so he could buy that inn.
You know, I've been wondering - how is it so many people - Garcia, Alejandro de la Vega, various commandantes and so on - have been taunted by Zorro AND conversed with Don Diego . . . and NO ONE has recognized the voices? Do they think it's just a coincidence that they sound so similar? (And is that how Don Alejandro figured out who Zorro is in time for "Amnesty for Zorro"?)
@AutobotNutcase Why? Because everyone knows that Diego couldn't possibly be Zorro. A couple of people have accused him, but they've always turned out to be fools. So... And since Diego isn't Zorro, well then, they don't sound alike.
People are strange: they see -- and hear -- what they believe (not the other way around).
There's been a lot of discussion on exactly when, and how, Alejandro figured it out. No conclusions yet. Your ideas?
@hecate235 I guess you and IheartZorro have it as close as I can figure it. Only thing I really have that I can add at this point (I may have more later) is a Chinese proverb I picked up somewhere - "Without coincidence, there would be no story." Maybe all three of us are right - people are convinced Zorro and Diego can't be one and the same, although some of them could be picking up on little things, and they're the ones like Don Alejandro, trying to make two and two add up to more than "?".
@AutobotNutcase Other thoughts: a) we know Diego is Zorro and can play the shows endlessly. b) for the characters, Zorro shows up unexpectedly, there's yelling, shouting, chaos, scary swordplay, you're trying to capture him or get out of the way, plus polite, maddening taunts, and lots of adrenaline. Not the best time for careful observation.
Maybe Alejandro became suspicious because in terms of continuous, connected minutes, he's spent more time with Zorro than anyone. And he's Diego's dad.
@AutobotNutcase When people are gravely ill or injured, it's natural for them to want their loved ones nearby, especially when they are as devoted as Alejandro and Diego. I can imagine the injured Alejandro in 1x07 wishing Diego were near, and then hearing his voice and feeling his touch. But - it's Zorro, not Diego! Hallucination? Alejandro watches Zorro, giving him the opening to admit he's Diego. Zorro refuses to take the bait, but the idea is planted. Seems reasonable to me, natch ;-).
@IheartZorro Agreed. Too bad George Lewis and Guy Williams are both dead and we can't ask them! I read somewhere that the guy who voiced Dinobot on "Beast Wars: Transformers" back in the 1990s said that Dinobot knew he was going to die five episodes before the voice-actor picked up on it. Maybe the same can be said here. I'm pretty sure the radio announcer from the old "Lone Ranger" show is still kicking. Does anyone know if any of the "Zorro" writers are still alive and giving interviews?
@AutobotNutcase It doesn't have to be just voice. Perhaps that initiated the suspicion. But in 1x07, Alejandro is shown watching Zorro set the decoy before he suggests 'It is almost as if I had known you. You seem so much like someone I know.' People's gestures are also fairly unique and there could be the recognition of the familiar touch. I myself think it was all these things together. The other episodes gather evidence pro and con the suspicion. Eg, big con in 1x39 but turns to pro at end.
I also love this episode of Zorro, he is one of my favorite series. I love this episode, especially at the end, when Zorro with the complicity of Bernardo, trying to scare the eagle, ie Varga, I love the episodes in which Zorro strikes fear in opponents by any means I think it's great!!
I really enjoyed this episode!...I used to watch Zorro when I was a kid,now 55,I have regained the enthusiasm. Disney had a jewel with Zorro and they did not know it.
That thing making all the ruckus, Is it a hollow gourd with a string being pulled through it, or what? Please answer. Also can anyone make out what Diego said when he threw the what ever to Bernardo after waking him up, "Here take the ..... " What?
You can produce a similar noise using a metal can (an old coffee can works great) instead of a gourd. You don't need rosin either, just get the string damp. The can makes the noise even louder. My brother was going to use that setup to scare some classmates in the middle of the night during a survival weekend for his wilderness survival class.
Like this very much, although its late and dark her too, so i know exactly how the eagle was feeling.
By the way, was Corporal Reyes coming with Garcia (he was with him when Zorro arrived and when he came back there was a soldier with him although i didnt see which one) or did he stay (lets say; the last survivor)?
This is one of my most loved episodes. Actually, i'm still at the 7th episode, but saw this cause i wanted to know how far you were. Now I see you're still quite busy with it and i really like it!
You'd think Garcia and the other soldiers would get used to seeing Zorro sitting around. And that kitten was so cute!!!

Last of the season. There is one more season and a handful of hour-long episodes after that.

actually no, there are still two more episodes to the season, but you're right about Season Two, and the hour episodes.
CorporalReyes 3 years ago
wow, episodes of an hour long? so that's why they never broadcasted season 2, because it didn't fit in the time of the TV station! ^^
I'm glad to see you already uploaded season 2, I hope I'll make it before Youtube might throw them off here. =)

In Holland, it was broadcasted, but divided in 2 parts, which made me totally mad because i had to wait another day xD
