I did this 4 times with BOILING water. Filled a huge pot all the way, poured everything into a near-empty toilet using dish-soap. The water reached the top of the toilet. 4 times in a row and no joy:( Pulled out the plunger and did it the old fashioned way and it worked in an instant. HOWEVER, I must say the water+soap must have helped because it only took one quick pop of the plunger and I was clear. Thanks for the video.

OMG!!! It worked!!! The only thing I would suggest pour the soap into the hole, pour hot water and let it sit there for about 3 minutes and then give it a flush :) but thank you so much!!!
Writing this response in real-time. Red faced...and hoping with ALL MY MIGHT that it works. Because now, after untwining my wire hanger...poking about, + dousing the bowl with dishwashing liquid +pouring the boling hot water in...I have funky fumes rising in my face...in addition to a clog. 36 mins Later...2 overflows UNTO THE FLOOR as well. Clog. Remains....off to the store I go.
Did not work for us--used boiling water 3 times with dishwashing soap. I think our "clog" is very deep into the bowl and may require a closet auger (it also might be non-soluble building material--new home). But thanks for the tip--I had to try it first, and at least now I know its a clog because a little "debris" was loosened by the process.

You have to be careful. Using boiling water in a very cold porcelain bowl may in fact crack the porcelain. Now that may leave you with an unclogged toilet, but you may also end up having to replace the toilet. Replacing a toilet is much more expensive than a plunger.

I actually had a plunger, but it wasn't working. Then I came across this video, and used the method using hot water and soap. When I did this it did not go down right away, however, I then took the plunger to it one more time and it finally went down. So pretty much it was a combination of everything I would say. Good luck!! If you only have 1 bathroom in your house/apartment it is ROUGH!
people this video is really helpfull!! it is very important to let the hot water for a couple of minutes and don't give up if it doesn't work from the first time..i did it 6 times and finally worked!!
heyyo. i'm been clogging toilets like a pro since '07. it's been a huge source of frustration since i am not an overeater and poop daily. i clogged the toilet in my new house (it's modern and the hole doesn't "fit" standard plungers) about 4 days ago and the toilet had to actually be taken apart. i clogged it again today. i tried this method, and got really pissed when it didn't work. but then i played around with the plunger again and heard the magical noise of continued flushing. ahhhhh

I received a call from a elderly lady up the street about her stopped up toilet. I quickly looked up on the internet on how to unstop a toilet. Your method worked great. Tip: First turn off the water supply to the toilet, then flush to drain most of the water from the bowl then apply dish liquid, then hot water, turn back on the water supply, then flush. Thanks for the idea.

Thank you soooo much! I tried it and at first and it didn't work. I thought it was because the toilet was half filled with water before I put the soap and boiling water in. But I decided to wait.... After about 15-20 minutes I flushed and the water was about 1inch from overflowing I said f*** it and I started to walk away and about 15feet down the hallway it I heard the toilet gurgle. I ran back and EVERYTHING was GONE! I flushed to make sure and the toilet works better than it ever did!

you said the water needs to be almost empty..but what if the water is already up to the rim? Does the water level lower down eventually by itself if I set it for few hours? What if it doesn't? What do I do!?!?!?!?
@0583lp If it's a complete clog and the water level isn't moving at all, this isn't going to help you. Usually if you give it some time, the water level will go down and you want to do this when the bowl is nearly empty.
It worked perfect, I would not have believed it except I just unstopped our toilet, last effort before calling for help! It took 3 kettles of hot water and about half a bottle of Dawn but it worked!! Thank you!

your toliet method works but when you put the hot water in you have to let it set for a couple of minutes. I actually had a plunger, but it wasn't working. Then I came across this video, and used the method using hot water and soap. When I did this it did not go down right away, however, I then took the plunger to it one more time and it finally went down. So pretty much it was a combination of everything I would say. Good luck!! If you only have 1 bathroom in your house/apartment it is ROUGH!

This worked almost instantly, AFTER I plugged my bathtub and taped over it's overflow drain.
Before I did those things, pouring the hot water in the toilet caused shit water to back flow in to my bathtub. YUCK!

heyyo. i'm been clogging toilets like a pro since '07. it's been a huge source of frustration since i am not an overeater and poop daily. i clogged the toilet in my new house (it's modern and the hole doesn't "fit" standard plungers) about 4 days ago and the toilet had to actually be taken apart. i clogged it again today. i tried this method, and got really pissed when it didn't work. but then i played around with the plunger again and heard the magical noise of continued flushing. ahhhhh

I received a call from a elderly lady up the street about her stopped up toilet. I quickly looked up on the internet on how to unstop a toilet. Your method worked great. Tip: First turn off the water supply to the toilet, then flush to drain most of the water from the bowl then apply dish liquid, then hot water, turn back on the water supply, then flush. Thanks for the idea.

Thank you soooo much! I tried it and at first and it didn't work. I thought it was because the toilet was half filled with water before I put the soap and boiling water in. But I decided to wait.... After about 15-20 minutes I flushed and the water was about 1inch from overflowing I said f*** it and I started to walk away and about 15feet down the hallway it I heard the toilet gurgle. I ran back and EVERYTHING was GONE! I flushed to make sure and the toilet works better than it ever did!

@craftyliang Thank you! It worked for me as well. I had a very stubborn clog and the plunger alone wasn't doing the trick. I applied your method along with the plunger and unclogged my toilet (finally). Probably saved me at least $200.00 for the plumber bill!!

you said the water needs to be almost empty..but what if the water is already up to the rim? Does the water level lower down eventually by itself if I set it for few hours? What if it doesn't? What do I do!?!?!?!?

@0583lp If it's a complete clog and the water level isn't moving at all, this isn't going to help you. Usually if you give it some time, the water level will go down and you want to do this when the bowl is nearly empty.

First I tried a plastic hanger because I couldn't find a wire hanger ,then I used a stick I ripped off a tree ,then my girlfriend found me a wire coat hanger an it didn't work either .well then I proceeded to use thick chicks method and I gotta tell ya ........ bullshit I tried four times an then it wouldn't drain down at all ,so therefore I turned back to the wire hanger ,still nothing by this time my gf is flippen out since its been over an hour an a half since she had to go but our

My husband and I realized about one hour ago that our one and only toilet was clogged... we don't have a plunger... so we waited- then my husband has to go BAD and has to go NOW- so we are trying the hanger thing... to no avail. your toliet method works but when you put the hot water in you have to let it set for a couple of minutes. I dont think your toliet was as severe as others may have been lol but this was helpful lol very much so lol you made this video like back in 09 so you may have just forgotten that you helped others lol thanks!
