  • What a fuckin' geek.

  • What song is this?

  • what's the title of this song?

  • @oalsecnev1 No title, it was just a demo track that Satch recorded to demo the mini JSX amps.

  • whats this song?

  • @joelrockstar19 It's called "The Mini Colossal Song."

  • Just saw JS in Oakland the other day. Nuthin' but Marshall JVM410's, and his tone was the best I've ever heard from him... Never been a big fan of Marshall, but these have been modded for Joe, and they really shined.

  • @HarrrySpider Yes, I saw him in Paris (France) too, he also used these marshall for his last album (Black Swans and wormhole wizzards) and I have to admit that they sound a lot better than his peavey JSX

  • @snk07 Do you know why that is, he ever used the amps distortion on the JSX.. If he had, it would blow the Marshalls clean out of the water. :P

    My 2c

  • @snk07 A lot more expensive too!

  • @HarrrySpider Satch always used Marshall's that were modded form him from even his earliest years. He codesigned the JSX amps hence had an agreement with Peavey ( go figure, big business wanting to make money from a name)He apparently has had a falling out with Peavy or they couldnt ring the cash register with Satch anymore , hence the discontinuation of these great heads that have had a name change and subtle tonal differences made, seemingly.

  • The JSX setting on the Vypyr is pretty damn close to the real thing, but some of these tones are so nice (not to mention the playing too!) I don't know if you could get them without the real JSX

  • I have a JSX, Legacy and Bogner head! By far the best in my opinion is the JSX!

As for Yngwie, truly a phenomenal player, but, only plays harmonic and diminished minor scales! Satch and Vai cover the whole spectrum!

    widlywidlywidlyweeee!!!!

  • is the JSX still in production?

  • funny how this is somewhat a tribute to the JSX amp with all the pictures showing the 120 watt head and combo yet the song playing in the background is the only song he's done using a different amp.

  • Joe Satch is just AWESOME!!

  • best ad for an amp in the history of ad's for amps

  • the outro to this is awesome. joe shud rock out more.

  • i just blew my load.

  • @GuitarsUnite This is the "Mini Colossal Song" which is an improvisation on the "Mini Colossal Amp".

Considering those who say Satriani doesn't blow and play fast, well music is first about melodies and rythm ... and furthermore on some tracks he does shred at least as fast as Yngwie or any other player ...

Enjoy the music and have a good day all of your

  • what song is this?????

  • Joe&Kirk

  • How come he is using JVM410's in Chickenfoot now?

  • @arbogastband ~~~~~ ARBOGAST~~~~im an arbogast from maryland, originally from pa, and west virginia.. do you know a guy named dennis arbo from tx????

  • Hey.. at 02:08. Is that a Peavey 5150? ..He also uses that amp alot too right?

    I also got one.

  • sweet video! what is the name of the song playing?

  • Joe Satriani doesn't even use the dirty from the amp.. he uses VOX Saturator pedals.. two of em

  • im one of the lucky few with a js1200 and a jsx peavey, its actually a really good amp on the clean if you hook a fenderstrat up to it

  • I want his guitars and amps with a burning passion- but I dont think me or frankly most people have anywhere near enough cash for one.

  • @ShadowLancer128 I do and I have three of them Js 1200, Js 1000 , js 100 JSX head 4x12 vabinet and all of his effects. It took me awhile but I would never ever get rid of any of it. You can get a js 1000 on ebay for cheeper than usual.

  • yeah- it took you like 5 or 6 years for that right?

although I'd just go for a 2400, maybe an additional 1200. The JSX amps would come some time later. the pedals would be an annoying little problem that also come some time later.

  • whats this song??????????????????

  • Mini Colossal Song - watch?v=tPPCZi2osK4

  • See:"LOVE THING BY DOUGLAS"

    Very good too!

  • this song is sick Satch rules

  • Just because theres a picture of him with the amp in the backround doesnt mean hes playing them.

EVH did that.He was playing the Marshalls that were hidden in the back of the Peaveys.

  • Satch isn't like EVH. I don't much care for Eddy actually. But Actually Satch does use his signature amps. He still messes around with other ones. He is real finiky about tone for different situations. That's why he collaberated with Peavey on this line. Actually this song is written with only the Peavey Mini Colossal without pedals or anything intricate. It's a 5 watt amp. Pretty great.

  • What about the wah?

  • That's flanger. It's a common effect on most Digital Effect amps. My Marshall MG 30 DFX amp and Vox DA15 amp even have it. Check out "Joe Satriani Mini Colossal Song" to see him play it Live. Him and his son made that vid for youtube. It's really cool.

  • I know what flanger is, I know he used some in the beginning but he definitely used wah in the solos after. He used reverse in the very beginning too. I know about effects. But I'll check that out too sounds cooll. Hmm he used another filter, all effects on the Peavey Vypyr which modeled this amp and all these effects. Wonder if he used that?

  • That would be because Ed is a flake.. lol

  • @brib333 and where do you have that piece of info from?

  • @MrRevolt0

    MY Eyes!!!!!!!

  • @brib333 so what your saying is that you have seen Eddie and Satch display there amps, but they were only there for covering up the actual amps? when and where did you see that?

  • @MrRevolt0

Vai does the same thing. There is nothing like a marshall.

  • @brib333

NO actually Vai does play mostly Carvin. But he does mix it up sometimes. He not a scum bag like EVH was. EVH didnt care he would just but some Marshall 800s in the back of his 5150s.

  • @brib333 Correction, there's nothing like a marshall which has been heavily modified for your taste. I'm yet to hear a Marshall out of the box sound half decent. And that includes a bunch of vintage 800's and 900's I've played

  • What amp did Joe use for Surfing with the alien? I know it was Marshall. But what kinda Marshall?

  • So nice song"!"!!##@

  • It's the Mini Collasal (not spelled right.) amp song. He wrote it using only that amp. It's a 5 watt amp too. Pretty great.

  • I have one also...can anyone tell me what kind of tubes I can replace the electro harmonix ones with my crunch and clean arent as warm as I would like them to be...the ultra is awesome though..best amp ive ever owned, only bad thing, no reverb :(

  • That is the best I've heard Satch since The Extremist.

  • Nice, gotta love Joe! I'm using a JSX on clean with a Satchurator and a BB Preamp pedal for gain tones, love it!

  • Song name???

  • It's the "Mini Colossal Song", Joe written this song for Peavey MiniColossal advertisement.

    Check this: watch?v=tPPCZi2osK4

  • why do they put microphones next to the amps? don't the amps sound gd enough? :P?

  • if you played a 4x12 cab in a stadium at one end and stood at the other end you wouldn't even hear it, so they mic them up and blast it through the massive P.A. system, this is a fundemental in live performance.

  • i always wondered why they just dont use a line out rather than micing the cab, is it something about getting the tone out of the speakers? steve vai said he didnt mic his cabs because it never sounds as good. im just curious

  • Yes, it's obtaining the desired tone. Some mic their amp some don't. You will see more amp mic-ing done on smaller stages like in clubs.

  • well, some choose to use a line out which gets a direct sound from the amp to the mixing console but most people would agree that by mic'ing up your speakers, you get such a better tone and sound, which is why you spend the money on a decent cab and speakers, it makes a hell of a difference.

As with everything tho, its down to personal preference.

  • i wondered that too, on my first gig. another main this when ur playing live, and say u need to do a solo where u turn up ur volume, and u dont hve a pedal, the dude workin all the sound buttons n stufcan turn u up a notch, and if you have ur volume u to loud that u cant hear anyone else, u cant exactly stop playin anwalk over to ur amp and turn the volume down, so the guy does, and, lastly, if your treble is up to much or whatever, he can fix up whats cumin through that PA system

  • you can do it anyway if you fot a volume pedal. If not it's the same shit wether you mic it or not cause the guys can controll the mic though

  • what song is this??

  • The "Super Colossal Amp" song that he did with his Super Colossal mini amp.

  • mini colossal amp and song

  • Had a JSX, but switched it for a Mesa RoadKing 2. Gonna buy the JSX again. It did things that the RK don't do. More punchy Marshall tones from the JSX. Fantastic amp. Can't go wrong. But what a tone in the RK. Works like hell... :)

  • I wonder if joe still going to be using marshalls on tours or his peavey jsx, he liked the marshalls because it gaves a bit of a hendix feel to the music and we all know how much joe loved jimis music

  • he uses his peavey on tours man, marshalls are amazing but u dont get a really fat tone from them whitch is what u get in bucket loads from the peavey :)

  • hes been using the peaveys for a long time. they get that more fat crunchy soft distortion sound he likes

  • .. that we all like

  • Joe has the most feel out of all the guitarists in his style(Vai,Petrucci,Gilbert, Yngwie)

  • i agree.

followed by giblerd. he's insanely calculating but he puts you in such a groove. :)

  • now now i agree but dont dis the other gods! you might get a smighting lol ;)

  • This is actually a demo of the Mini Colossal, not the JSX . . .

  • That is correct.

  • probably the mose natural sounding amp i have ever heard. the clean channel is better than any Fender!

  • JSX is a great amp for sure.

  • i beg for advicee!!, please, i'm looking for an amp, i have no idea what to go for, so please, whoever reads this, gimme a hand PLEASE!

  • mesa boogie (6)

    thats like DA holy grail!!!

  • hard rock to eletric blues : marshall

    metal: mesa boogie , randall.

    blues/clean: fender

  • wats this song called? lol

  • It's the "Mini Colossal Song", Joe written this song for Peavey MiniColossal advertisement.

    Check this: watch?v=tPPCZi2osK4

  • signature amps and guitars are marketing tricks! prefer more original stuff than signature so you can bring them to your style... satriani is an experienced player... he would play ok on any decent amp...its not the amp, its the fingers

  • you should consider and test all signature gear as you would any other gear. They aren't tricks, a lot of signature gear hold their own regardless of who's name is on it. The JSX is apparently a very versatile amp, there's just as many chances of finding a personalized sound on it as anything else.

  • no way you gotta play through one of these check out my vide on the versatility of the jsx and you will see why ginothelardmaster

  • 80% fingers 20% equipment...cuz if u have no sustain u cant do much but yeah u got a point :)

  • what song is this?

    its driving me insane!!!

i swear i know it but!!!!!! AHHH! :P

  • the song is called: Mini Colossal. You can download it at the Peavey website! :)

  • the funny thing is that this song was recorded to show off the tone he gets with his 5 whatt mini collosal amp

  • haha.

  • btw: the shots are located at 1:21 - 1:35

  • Wow, I see some of my pictures in your video :-) The ones from the American Music JSX Demo in Bellevue, WA. Either that or you were standing right next to me. I got him to sign my JS1000 that night. I also have all the audio from that demo. Check out my JS1000 video.

  • I still love my JSX after a year and a half... recorded all my vids wiht the JSX if you want to hear it. From VH to ACDC to Dokken to Gary Moore to Slash.

  • use your ears, man! :)

  • Near 1600 bucks (the head only)...

  • @snk07 Pop up around $1100 used sometimes, should have jumped on it cause they are hard to find these days. To me sounds like a Classic 50 and you can get those for $500 or so anywhere and they can get pretty loud but the bass kind of goes up too. I mostly want to find this sound in a preamp for direct recording myself but have thought as far as getting the JSX and a Palmer Speaker Sim and routing it into Pro Tools through Eleven Rack.

  • @Whyrendog , im going to look at a used one today at GC. The salesperson there owned it previously and is selling it for $450. still undecided if i should purchase.

  • @jmdenogean If you are talking the classic 50, play a Peavey Wolfgang Special or a strat through it. I LOVED the sound of a strat finger plucking some blues and the Peavey sounds great too almost like a Kotzen Tele. I like the bassiness of the classic though, the salesperson at the time didn't. The lead channel with all the gain up/no reverb and minimal tone settings sounds perfect IMO. Everyone always leaves it harsh sounding with a bunch of verb when I go back. No wonder it's still there.

  • Joe Satriani is gonna make me shoot my fucken head on the top of Eiffel tower

  • I can't wait to get mine!! Played one at guitar center, AWESOME!! Who's this ass clown?

  • This is NOT the best amp in the world. Try a Bogner or Diezel...they are much better amps. With that said, Satriani MAKES this amp sound great. You can't sit there and say he blows...he's pretty tasteful and most everything he does, at least COMPARED TO YNGWIE...now THAT guy blows. He can play fast, but where's the substance? Get a life kid, music isn't all about being able to play a fast lead solo. Good day.

  • @dedrye agreed

  • @dedrye if YJM was really that bad they wouldn't have invited him to play on the G3 tour...

  • @dedrye Awe dont hate cause you cant play any Yngwie riffs. Satriani does not blow but he is half the mistro Yngwie is any day. Two totally different styles but if anyone has made his mark in history its Yngwie son, now you get a life. I can see why you have a problem coming from someone who uploads Katelyn Marks vids, anythign aggressive probably scares you.

  • @sniffy45 I upload vids for clients. Other than that, I rock it out. Yngwie actually is a favorite of mine, I was just being spiteful towards the original comment about Satriani sucking & Yngwie being much better. Was probably not a cool thing to do on my part, apologies...but it just got under my skin.

  • @dedrye hey, opinions are like assholes, everyones got one right? I know what you mean, youtube can really piss you off sometimes with all the dickbrains out there, peace.

  • if by crap you mean awesome then yes but if not i wwant some of what your smokin

  • do you like steve vai?

  • dude,.. everybody love steve. :)

  • except chuck norris jaja... just kidding... what's this song? never heard it and from which record is it from? sounds very "Is there love in space"..

  • Look on G3 videos and itl change your mind.

  • No of course not, but what I mean is, with any half decent equipment, Satriani would sound like Satriani....

  • Who's Joe Satrini? This is Joe Satriani lol

  • Lol, that's the amp being played in the music right?? :D

  • the name of the song?

  • its the joe satriani mini colossal song. it was all recorded on the small peavey mini colossal amp.

  • mini collossal demo, you can download it from the manufacturer's website at peavey[dot]com

  • this is a demo of the Peavey Mini Colossal.

NOT the JSX. he recorded this track with the 5-watt all tube Mini Colossal class A amp.

  • To check out my JSX/JS2000 tone.. Just search for johanaavit

  • I've got a JSX and a JS 2000. Don't sound like Satch at all. If you're not trying to get his tone that is. And you don't have to. Got a Rivera 4x12" loaded with V30(70w). Fingers affect the tone a lot, you know.

  • It's not the AMP, it's all in the fingers and the feeling man....

  • the mini collosal

  • (by Joe of course)

  • hm... satriani is a jazz guitar master turned badass, or somethin.. lol, but IMHO I don't really like his tone... i prefer mesa's mark 4 + any booster pedal for soloing

  • Amazing amp...just one of the best around...only problem is that to get the best out of it you need dimarzios (as snk07 sayd)...but then it sounds waaay to much like Joe

  • na man, emg's(actives) get a kick ass tone tooo(even more than dimarzios, if tat is what you are after)

  • Can't say I dig EMGs... They actually feel soft to me. Dimarzio's are where it's at over here. But like the other guy, it's all personal preference.

  • If you like prog. rock and metal this is a good amp... especially for soloing if you really want to know how this amp sounds go to one of his shows live like I have and then think about it

  • What you said is true, but I think we need of the Di marzio Pick ups to get this sound

  • i trying to by a set of freds lol anyone want to send me the money lol

im only 16 and i want

lol ojoj dudes im ttrying to get a have decinte guitar with a floyd any sugestions ppl

  • dont use any of that !!!

  • at 135 what mics are they, sm 57's or the audix I5?

  • I have a question..

Do you guys think I can hook up thsi head to my Tech 21 Power Engine 60 cabinet?? and if so how do I do it?

I also have a POD Xt Pro..which I plan to use for some cabinet setting and for effects...How do you hook it up to the FX loop? Does this head come with a footswitch?

  • Im guessing the Engine 60 is a 60 watt cabinet. Dont use it. The JSX pumps out 120. Find the right cab. It has to be able to handle the wattage and match whatever impedance the head requires (I believe there is a switch that allows you 4,8 or 16 ohms. Remember, if you run two cabs, make sure you divide by two. (Two 16 ohms put switch on 8 ohms, two 8 ohms put on 4 ohms). THis is the impedance the parallel outputs see.

  • Ramone, Eddie Van Halen built and designed the 6505 which is the same thing as the 5150. Eddie Van Halen did not design the JSX.

  • i bought this amp brand spanking new from guitar center and returned it a week. i traded it for the 6505+. dont get me wrong im not knocking this amp but im a metal head and the same amp designer built the 6505 for metal and im in love with the 6505+ head.

  • No! Joe did not record this song with this amp. This song is recorded with the Mini Colossal amplifier, not the JSX.

    Regards

  • yeah but the mini colossal amp' is from the jsx series

  • Yes but it is a completely different amp than the JSX head which is on mostly all of the pictures and most of the time when people say JSX only they refer to the head and stuff. Anyway, just wanted to clear that out.

BTW, sorry I accidentaly clicked on Spam instead of reply.

  • is this Joe playing in this song? Sounds alot like him

  • yeah it's him. He recorded this song by this amp.

  • cool thanks!!!

  • the beginning of the song what effect is used the guitar that kinda struggles to fade in and out??

  • Its not a particular effect.. its a technique.. He plays it in real time and records it on tape and then the tape is run backwards and recorded. The tape running backward is what gives that effect...you get the same effect if play an old record backwards.. He does the same thing for the solo on the song Bamboo on,Is there love in space

  • cool thanks alot ill check out bamboo rite now

  • where did you found the mp3 for this?

  • i took it on peavey website.

  • ok thx!

  • played this kick ass amp at gc yesterday and it is awsome

  • everybody agrees :)

  • as 4idiots said, you can download the song at peavy website, but it's the satriani webmaster who send me it!

  • This is the Mini Colossal song. You can find it at peavy's mini colossal website.

  • What song?

  • Sweet! I use the combo on all of my vids.... and get complimented on the tone often. Cool slide slow.
