This incident occured in South Afrca. The guy was taking a joy ride with

a member of the Silver Falcon (South African Air Force display team).

He accidentally ejected, but the pilot managed to land with a broken canopy.

The passenger was recovered a few hours later (un-injurered) by an air force Oryx...

Ejection seats are not a fun ride. He probably spent time in the hospital with damage to his spine and since his head was probably not in the correct position, he likely had severe whiplash injury as well.

sounds like he was doing an air experience flight. I dont think he was the pilot. he was just a random guy who got to fly with an experienced pilot, and was told not to touch the yellow and black loop between his legs, but when aerobatics threw him forward, he couldnt resist the need to grab it to steady himself, and thus left the plane very quickly lol.

well, some planes have the ejection handle abve the head (like in topgun), but if your out of control, might be under so much g or be so injured, so its easier to just pull a handle between your legs. But I guess its more dangerous lol. They did try by paining it yellow and black though.
