  • Why Use a sling shot when you can use a bow

  • @TAz357Mag Because they're more compact and easier to use. Less weight to carry, the more you can carry.

  • I wish you were my Dad or at least by Grampa I wouldent be bored to go to my grandperents house anymore :D!!!!!

  • "and this rides up and down your shaft".....tehe

  • I was hoping you were going to catch a fish at the end of the video

  • Cool!

  • Holy shit.

  • Oh my god, I thought it was Matt Hughes at first.

  • @fl260 Like the one who died on Stormchasers?

  • @Thedawg4life No, the mixted martial artist.

  • @fl260 oh okay

  • where did you get your slingshot arrow rest?

  • What kind of slingshot is he using

  • made my shafts out of 1/4" aluminum tube cut at an angel for the point. Shot a 150lb hog with it and the shot missed all vitals. But the tube made him bleed out within 45'.

  • So where's the fish?

  • best videos on youtube!!!!!!!!

  • I think he should put 400+ .22 cartridges in his PCB pipe. then bring his M9 survival rifle and there you have rabbits and fish or frogs.

  • wow, this is genius. creativity is one of this man's strengths. thank you sir.

  • i really like your simple & cheap concept of the slingbow & cant wait to put one together myself, but since i havent actually tried it yet i have a question. on the pvc reel if the line snaged while shooting the arrow wouldent it come off the cap somewhat easily, would it be better to have a threaded cap? or am i just over thinking things lol

  • I like the set up that you guys have made it is genius. simple but deadly. as i am watching it fire you can see smoke coming from the line. The way that my dad taught me when i was a kid was to dip that line in the water before firing it. It will help lengthen the life of the rope, as you can tell on the video with the smoke, its almost the same thing as dry firing a bow. I dont know if you will take this into consideration, but try it out. other than that you rock. keep up the good work.

  • im a spear fisher is there any mod u can do for this to use it under water?

  • it wouldve been kool if he wouldve gotten a fish

  • Bow-Fishing ? scheiss Tierquäler

  • does this work in the water?

  • where can you get a sling shot fishing set or can you only make them?

  • I bet you could snag some waterfowl with that thing also..amazing gadget..dont suppose you could make me one and sell it to me? =)

  • brilliant

  • This is absolutely AMAZING dave.

    Way to improvise!

Small, light weight, multipurpose killing machine.

I definitively need to make one of these for my outdoor kit.

    Thanx!

Btw, love your show on the discovery channel, can't wait for the next season to start. You and Cody are the real deal brotha

    Hope all is well

    -Misael

  • I Did that with my normal bow:)

  • @wildernessoutfiters. bro, thats a nice setup.

  • dave im 11 and i cant welld what can i do

  • can you buy smaller arrows? i mean where i live it would be a bit stupid walking down the street with a 2ft arrow sticking out of my bag. are smaller ones available?

  • I made on of these and It works great! I will make a video of it later. Thanks!!

  • why not glue the slip cap in place if u are putting a screw on cap on the other end u could still use it for storage while also making it sturdy where as a certain arrow or stronger then average fish take all ur line out then ur reel right with it as well

  • @evanyandibory that was my thought as well

  • Can you show us how do you made these fishing arrows ?

  • muito bom mesmo parabenes

  • u can use pink line if u want to lol

  • I have my Marksman sling shot set up with a whisker biscuit for archery identical to yours. Now I need the additional set up for a fishing arrow. I have shot carp before with a bow. It seems a larger diameter spool would allow the string to un-spool faster and allow a fiberglass fishing arrow to penetrate the large scales of a 20 to 40 lb carp. A slow light arrow would bounce off a carp. Thank you for your demonstration. In welding the l bracket, did you MIG Weld it or braze it to the sling?

  • Comment removed

  • This is just too cool. Can't wait to try it out on some carp!

  • This guy is so resourcefull. Dave you need to get those producers on Dual Survival to let you create more similar stuff on the program. Series 2 comes accross as them holding you back a bit... just an observation mate.

  • Fantastic idea! thanks for sharing!

  • No - to - New - world - Order - - -

  • @StJamesapostle The "NWO" is just a load of crap to keep idiots distracted. The "Old World Order" is more scary, same people owning everything for last 500 years.

  • @mryellow123 fuck you dumbass

  • @reddumbass1 Such a profound statement, one can almost smell your intelligence from here.

  • @mryellow123 lol good one

  • whats the "breaking" strength of the line your using????

  • @ejhowe2005 If its masons line its about 150lbs.....if its actually bowfishing line then its more like 250lbs

  • "rides up and down your shaft" hehehe

  • Great idea Dave. And an FYI if I may; the string on the arrow acts as a 'tail' like on a kite, keeping the arrow traveling straight, so you don't need to deal with the flights on the backend. All the most popular bowfishing arrows are flightless.

Thanks again for another great vid. I can't wait to try this one out myself. I'm a huge bowfisherman as it is. This'll be a great backup in case my bow fails me while I'm out on the water.

  • Great tip. I love this idea. Thanks & keep up the good work my friend. :-)

  • I'd glue the cap on and leave the plug free(removable). As for the puff of smoke that someone thought they saw? That is water being flung off the line as the shot is made. I'm guessing Dave had made a shot previous to the one he recorded.

I want to see a fish taken with that thing, otherwise it is just theory.

  • Guna try this with my kids.

  • This guy is awesome im def tryin this stuff

  • One thing I would do to that setup is put a pin of some sort at that pipe and cap connection on the real. Since the pipe is just a friction fit into the cap that is bolted to the sling shot bracket, if a malfunction during a shot occurred and the line did not release and unspool properly the arrow could rip the spool off the sling and you would loose your whole rig into the water. I would drill a hole though the cap and pipe an put a pin in to prevent that from ever happening.

  • survivorman/mantracker/mcgyver keep it up you need to get a show id watch

  • @THESLICKNESSEDM Isn't he on dual survival?

  • @flatbob123 hell yeah

  • @flatbob123 woot woot

    yes he is

    and cody lundin

  • @flatbob123 ya dumbass

  • @reddumbass1 I seem to have come by your very....Profound (as MrYellow123 has stated) comment. At times like this I would threaten you, but given that your name is already RedDumbass1, I'll leave it up to you to harm yourself out of sheer stupidity , because as we all know, you will sooner or later.

  • @flatbob123 yes

  • thats awesome

  • @flatbob123 yes he is

  • @flatbob123yes hes dave

  • this is awesome great ideas i love learning new things this is one of my favs. maybe you could mount a laser point to the bracket makeing sighting easier

  • weld the nut of the 'reel' to the frame rambo joe!

  • Instead of using a wingnut to attach PVC cap to your bracket, you could just thread the hole and screw it in. Would prevent getting fingers bumped on wing nut. Very great idea. Thanks for sharing.

  • Looked on the website for the mod parts, but didn't find anything. Granted this was posted some time back. I have a slingbow identical like the one you made. I would love to add the fishing mod. Do you have the specs on the welded arm and such?

  • kool

  • Do believe i would put some brownells fast flight line for bowfishing, and with that storage tube i would cut down a shortened fishing arrow, and make a coupler that can go together with that hot melt, gettin too complicated to build 100 arrows for all that stuff, if you can kill a fish with a slingbow, you can for sure kill one with a sharpened stick :) cool ideas though

  • btw i was eleven or sompn like that

and not very focussed on what i´m doing.

  • i want to see the fish

  • When I was a kid we would make a spear guns with with a 3/4" or 1" pvc pipe 6-8" long. We would tie with slings like yours or those wide rubberbands to one end and use an antenna form ford truck as the spear. The top end of the antena has a ball and used at the sling side and the bottom woud get sharpen. Hold the pipe on one hand and pull with the other. That thing was deadly on clear water streams and rivers in the of the Texas hill country.

  • @KIKOGZZ

sounds kind of familiar to me.build one like the one you describe by myself.

but with a much shorter tube, pulled the arrow to far, so it flew not thru the tube,

but over it,into my finger.so ended what supposed to be a nice afternoon.

also had some troubles pulling the arrow-t´was more like a long metal bolt i

made out of a long nail-out.maybe due to the fact, that i rasped a barb in it as well.

man, walking down memory lane right now.

  • ive always wanted to go bow fishing, this might be a cheaper option, thanks for the info

  • It 's good ideal!

  • Anybody wanna buy a takedown bow?

  • @selpmax how much what # and draw back

  • pure genius.

  • how many "Nut's" do you need??

  • it rides up and down your shaft lol, i know mature eh?

  • can you pls email me a closup pic of the fishing arrow cause I dont know how you put the barb on it :)

  • Comment removed

  • "it rides up and down your shaft" lol

  • Nice instructional vid. Great concept and I like the lack of greed in not trying to copyright/trademark your idea but instead sharing it with everyone for the goal of sharing the outdoors with our youth. Question: since the pvc sleeve is just inserted into the cap that's connected to the L-bracket, what's to keep the sleeve from getting jerked out and sinking along with your arrow if the line becomes fouled? And what's that puff that comes from the line when you fire? Smoke from friction?

  • @projenna If there are any concerns about the PVC tube popping out you could replace straight PVC for threaded PVC and a cap to match. It wouls all go back together just the same.

  • i love your shoe when are you gonna make more

  • i practice surviving in my back woods

  • you guys should let someone come on the show like me:0 i practice survial techneoks everyday in the back of my woods

  • hey man were did you get your little arrow holding wisk thing that folds up in down?

  • @ZachAhhLack65 wisper biskit, wall mart or any place that sells bows

  • Cool set up, Dave.

  • is this the dual survival guy?

  • @xraidedlok Yes it is, mate.

  • @Greatbloke i loved when he snared that pig and smashed its head in

  • @xraidedlok hell yeah

  • deer hunting is not allowed with the slingbow but this year we can us the atlas maybe someday we will i live in missouri

  • This is the type of info, that can feed a man for life. Thank you very much, Dave.

  • dave how did you attach your whisker bisket?

will the pipe ever pop off when you shoot it

  • some questions

what is the name of that archer glue stuff you have and where did you get it?

where did you get your pack?

  • Dave, you are a very clever man! A weapon/tool to get protein in one neat package. I agree with the others' suggestions re. the PVC. Could you make the whole thing a more compact package if you could somehow hinge the bracket to make it easier to pack? Also, how about sawing a groove in the golf tee so that you could also use that arrow in a regular bow?

  • only thing i dont like about it is th "reel" thinking makeing one but adding a real reel on th front of mine

  • me and my friend made one and we put a practice errow threw a hot water tank its cool make a clip of it hitting on

  • dave your a genius, wish youd use some of your gadgets on the show just a few special shows because i do understand the show is about surviving a real life situation not one you are ready for.

  • @DJDailey thats what i said but h dont answer comments really anymore to bad his shows season is over he might start answering comments again i hope

  • @mike12703 ohhh gotcha, thanks, me 2

  • @DJDailey yeh i hope he aint slef centeed cause of his show he most likely isnt but i hope he aint

  • With the cap only slipping on. Should I be worried about my line snagging, and pulling the pvc into the water with the arrow?

  • @TheDowntownrb69 i would buy a threaded cap and end for pvc so u dont have to worry about that

  • any alternative to welding the L bracket to the bottom of the frame

  • Your freaking amazing man. you would be a billionaire if you made ready to use products to sell at cabelas or some other hunting store.

  • Hey thats better than a bow! You could add a spinner lure! if you dont catch sight of fishes!

Althought you could used a Fishing reel.

To bad it's not allowed in my country

  • Have you got anything with it yet Dave? I found that my stage one version with the keyring shoots amazingly well with a heavy BIRD ARROW with the six big flights. I specially reinforced the tips of the flights with a layer of electrical tape and it shoots perfect every time. I couldn't find an affordable whisker biscuit with the right holes or grommets, and the others were too flexible to use. But the keyring works great still.

  • One other thing i would recommend would be making the plug cap a screw on just in case for some reason you got a tangle or snag in the line when shot it doesnt pop off and throw your fishing reel in the lake. All around awesome set up. PS i love the Dual Survival show i hope you keep cranking out seasons, Good luck.

  • can a 13 year old join your class for free

  • @leehuyh nope

  • very good thank a bunch well done with the info no stupid backround music , now i don't have a gun and for fishing this is it ! lots of time i see the fish but they won't go 4 the bate and you see them clear as day , i have photos of this 2 2 an a half foot fish an there not biting this will work what if the us goes down and we have to go back to midevil times and it will people will be there own providers , stock up on beans and eat fish rabbit or what you can find then the water-electric is g

  • I think the only thing I'd worry about is the line running all the way out and the plastic roll being pulled all the way off. is that an issue at all?

  • thats probly cheaper than buyign a bow lol

  • your vids rock i am going to mod my slingshot so i can hunt

  • does this kind of sling bow work underwater as a speargun

  • I heard Dave on Q95 ( Indianapolis ,Ind _-> where I live ) yesterday morning :-P Hope ya had fun thats what about a 12 to 14 hour drive back home

  • Instead of a barb on the arrow I put a fishing hook. Im gonna use it for duck hunting.

This way I don't have to bring my obnoxious dog with me, and I don't have to swim into the lake to retrieve it =).

  • exelente!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • greetings from england . this is an absoloutly brilliant idea thank you , keep up the good work bud !

  • Man i really love u , i wish someday i meet ya

  • i would put the mounting screw on the perminant cap end so i wouldnt risk losing the plastic tube

  • thanks

  • do you find that the sling kicks the heck out of the wisker bisket? when i put my mine together i kept knocking the wisker bisket hard, even knocked it out of the bracket that comes with it. I did shorten my heavy duty straps a bit, maybe too much?

  • Wow that is pretty cool

  • that kix ass!!! I gotta try that! my son's gonna get a kick out of it.... too cool

  • great stuff

  • i think its Prusnik knot and yes its used wonderfully in climbing

  • @xj650rj This would be used in situations when fish are readily available. If you have ever seen Carp spawning in the spring near a shoreline or a Salmon spawn, you would surely see the practicality of this invention.

  • slick l like it

  • just a little thought here but where the reel attaches to the L bracket and the removable cap. when tension is on that cap couldn`t it come apart and the top of the reel come off and fly out of your hands?

  • Hats off to wilderness outfitters

  • can you kill a rabbit with a 100g bunny buster using the slingbow with the black bands

  • AWESOME!!!!

  • for the string going along the bowfishing arrow, i used an old guitar string, took off the little ring thing then tighened it behind the point, then attached it to the base of the arrow

  • where can i buy the L braket

  • This is truly a genius idea. if you were in the woods for a few days this would provide ample food supply.

  • You could always weld the nut to the l-bracket and replace your pvc with a threaded and knurled piece of aluminum, it would be just as light and a little stronger, plus it would look sweet as shit!!!

  • @kingdeadbeat i didnt know shit was sweet

  • watch out your pvc reel section could come out of the end cap while shooting or with a large fish on the line

awesome idea I am going to make one of these they are wicked looking

  • Your an inspiration! Great idea...thanks for sharing

  • awesome video im impressed

  • awesome vids, Love your stuff brother. Keep up the good work

  • how do you tie a ''persig'' knot? cant find such a knot.

  • @oldfacefull I could be wrong but I think Dave is talking about a prusik knot.

  • i'll try lookin it up

    thnx

  • It's spelled "Prusik" knot. Google it.

  • isn't that what bigwookie68 said? and i did google it. by the way it's a climbing knot used kind of like a latter. i still dont know how you could apply this knot to this situation. look it up yourself and tell me.

  • @oldfacefull " i still dont know how you could apply this knot to this situation"...Watch the Video again doofus... HE USES it Brilliantly!!!!

  • @immovable1wow.............it's just a comment dude there's no need to get all worked up and call people names, i'm sorry i just don't find this vid very instructional as far as the knot goes, regardless of how ''Brilliantly'' you thinks he uses it. i learned how to use it from another vid though, so you can get some sleep know.

  • Why not just cut a thread into the L bracket to fasten the tube? That saves the weight of one nut. As well you cant loose it. A wingnut interferes more with your hand if you use it for the hex nut.

If you put a flashlight and or laser into the tube, you have a tactical slingshot. =)

  • a wing nut doesn't weigh anything dude

  • Nice! Very slick. Thanks, perfect solution for kayaking and not having to transport a bow.

  • good idea for casting

  • Hi Dave, I like very much the way you work and your technical solutions! Great videos on a great channel!

    Francesco

    Italy

  • how didi you attach the barb

  • how do you tie the knot for s sling bow

  • what is your wed site called

  • have you ever killed a deer with the sling shot

  • you need a threadded cap before you lose your fish and arrow and heads in the water

  • thats why you grab the line and pull it in.. theres no chance a fish with an arrow in him could run all your line out before you get ahold of it... then the weight of the fish is in your hand not on the tube

  • That is sweet. It is really a one stop shop for all wild game. One other use. You could leave the fishing reel part on the front. Drop down the whisker biscuit and attach a weight and lure to the swivel. Then you could use the regular sling shot to shoot the weight out in the middle of a lake. This would give you a good "cast" just like with a fishing pole. Just an idea.

  • @dtmanes have you tried this? I ask because I'm not sure if that would work or not. Hypothetically, it sounds good on paper, I am just curious of its performance.
