As the spider takes the fly As the gray does take the dye As the drink does numb the pain As the songs all sound the same With diminishing returns And the hackneyed twist-and-turns As the egg runs down your face We'll still bang on the bin lids Cause dad forgot the kids And they throw us to the pigs And it's hard lines, hard lines, hard lines, hard lines
You're thinking to hard about it. i have no idea where you guys are getting 11/16 from. The whole song is in 6/4. Count the quarter note. Even though it feels like you want to count the eighth on the quick beginning. Fantastic song. Music that makes you think is good music.
@mdavis2789 Count the individual notes of the rhythm. It's two 8ths, three 16ths, one 8th, then two 16ths per bar. That's 11/16. If you try tapping it out in quarters you'll almost definetly add an extra 16th because it just feels natural, but the notes add up to 11/16.
@mdavis2789 The song is in 11/16 and maybe you have to work a little bit on your musical skill. Try to slow the song down with a software and then write down what you here, and I'll GUARANTEE you'll end up with 11/16 ;)
@Youneik89 Where do you get the 11 from? I count 6/8, or 4/3, and it sounds like the chords change in multiples of 2 or 4 bars. Don't get me wrong though, this song has some killer drums in it, but your comment isn't the first time I've seen that 11 come up, and I don't know where it comes from. Time-signature wise, this song seems to be pretty straight forward for there guys and the bass drum and snare beats never change (though everything in between does like crazy haha)
@MrPerson72 Nevermind, I stand corrected. Just analyzed the drum beat slowed down in order to count it. Definitely 11, but it's very fast, like 11/16.
This song is genius. From the heart-wrenching chord progression, to the subtle underlying screams beneath the monotone singing, it all comes together to become the most exciting and upbeat song I've heard in a long time.

@bob6k Both you nigs make shit complicated.
Count the song by 8ths 6 times. Are you starting the next measure on an off beat? Then shave the last 8th note in half.
one, two, three, four, five, SIX-ONE, two, three, four, etc., etc.
Boom. I taught you nigs how to fish a little more. So start fishin' up those time sigs.

meegja 1 year ago
@meegja surely if it was a "title song" then it would be called "self preserved while the bodies float up" like the "title" of the album...?
