  • Very honored to have this film selected for the 37th annual Boston Science Fiction Film Festival!

  • I'm not saying it's bad, I'm saying that it's under-explored and leaves too many questions un-answered.

  • @hobocamptheater I understand. I would point out, however, that it is an 8-minute short film and it is actually very carefully laced with several clues as to what's going on. It's not without a point or conclusion. It's just that it takes putting the puzzle together. But keep in mind that it's short film, not a feature with a three act structure. :)

Thank you for watching and commenting!

  • @MikelCulchie I can see that it takes some thinking and puzzle solving to get the point but I feel that some clues might be too well hidden within the "sets" and dialogue (or maybe I'm just a giant blind idiot). In any case it's nice to know that some people still understand subtlety and challenging the audience.

also, I just read the description and I think you making a feature film will be awesome.

  • @hobocamptheater Thank you so much! You might be right. I purposefully made it challenging, so I might have gone too far, made some clues to hard to find. Some of it is visual (hint: dates written on things matter in this story). But, yes, it's an exorcize in subtly, and maybe in places I was too subtle. :)

Thanks for you support and kind words! I'm about to shoot a new short film this month that you may enjoy. Look for it early summer. And of course, working on that feature!

  • @MikelCulchie Awesome, I'll check it out when it happens.

Good to hear I could help, good luck with future works, and have fun.

    2 final notes:

1: if you are looking into new gear and are unsure I might be able to help as I have an unhealthy fascination with production gear

2: I have some films uploaded that you might like (all of the current ones are experimental and I'm currently working on a lot of better stuff for the near future)

  • @hobocamptheater Sweet. You should look me up on Facebook under Mikel J. Wisler. I'm always curious about production gear and I would love to check out your shorts!

  • I feel that the twist ending is great yet under-developed and that it leaves us with too many questions that need to be answered. It's okay to raise questions, it's not okay to have no point or real conclusion.

  • That was an amazing short. Very entertaining. The ending only left me wanting for more. Excellent work.

  • Very well done.

  • The effect at the beginning of the guy walking made me a little unsure if this would be cheesy or not but this was superbly executed. Great cinematography. Excellent work.

  • Cool Concept!

  • I've been watching these short sci-fi films on youtube recently, and I prefer them to the hollywood BS. Never seen actors - GREAT! Never shown ideas - GREAT! Really good. Thank you for uploading.

  • GOOD!

  • part 2?

  • Great short! My theory... the camera is able to catch a different, somewhat time altered reality or we are seeing the character's future self sending a warning that obviously something wrong is going to happen if he doesn't stop. That's my take. Looking forward to the next one.

  • This was really good, worth the long wait, Im not too sure, but im assuming he was already dead or something, I havnt really got a clue, but I enjoyed it :)

  • @RedSpectrumPictures So glad you enjoyed it. It's definitely a tricky story, but there are hints in there, especially in the early section of the film, as well as some hidden hints on the official website for the film. I'd be curious to hear more of your theory that he's dead already. Thank you for watching! Please share with your friends.

  • @MikelCulchie

Its mainly becuase of when he said to the man on the phone about loosing 11 minutes, I cant really explain it very well, but thats my reason :)

  • @RedSpectrumPictures Ah, very interesting. That's cool. I was just curious. When I wrote it, I was definitely thinking more along the lines of sci-fi than supernatural, but I'm always open to other interpretations and invite it, in fact, with a film like this. Again, thanks for watching and commenting!

  • @MikelCulchie

I have another question, and im sorry if its been covered in the behind the scenes videos, but I have watched them and dont remember hearing an answer. for the macro shots which are at the end, im hoping to do some macro video in a short film im planning, would you recomend one of those cheap macro tubes which you can get for canon dslrs?

  • @RedSpectrumPictures No worries at all! Love questions! I'm not familiar with these macro tubes you speak of. Do you mean macro filters? I haven't tried those. What I used was the Sigma 70-300mm lens that has a macro option when you're between 200 and 300mm. In that range you can switch on the macro focusing, and get really up close to small objects. It's cool, but tricky, as the lens has no image stabilization. There are also 50mm primes with macro options you could look into.

  • @MikelCulchie

Im not really hoping to get a whole new lens becuase my budget for the short film is low, but the macro tubes are basically interchangeable rings which you can place in the camera body to make the lens further away from the senser, and some how this magnifies everything, and there really cheap, about £9 on ebay

  • @RedSpectrumPictures Smart! Yeah, I totally know about the cost of lenses. These rings sound very interesting. How well does inserting such a ring maintain the lens's actual clarity and resolution? Also, do these rings just provide amplification, making a 50mm lens into say a 100mm lens, or do they make a lens into a true macro lens, which means you can focus on something that is in fact physically quite close to the lens. But at that price, test it out! I would really love to hear more!

  • @MikelCulchie

I really dont know much about them, by the looks of it they are just hollow tubes which connect to the camera body, and then allow the lens to attach to the tube. if you search macro tube on youtube youll see what I mean, and yes I will tell you how I get on with one when I get one, hopefully it will be worth it, they look good

  • idk maybe he's already dead but doesn't know yet..

  • @Riel2ReelFilms Interesting theory. I haven't heard anyone propose that one yet. Why do you says so, out of curiosity? I'm always interested in how people are reading/interpreting a film I make. Have you seen any of the behind the scenes videos?

  • @MikelCulchie I added some hidden links to clues on the official website for "Stop." stop(dot)mikelwisler(dot)com

  • Excellent. Creepy. but I didn't understand it at all!

  • @Riel2ReelFilms Thanks for watching! The clues are in there. What's your theory?

  • The hit always gets me. Such a great moment! Also the super 8 cam spinning in the creds great visual.

  • That was so spooky. Loved it!

  • Very cool! Excellent suspense!
