Its expertly explained in Drawing Room Deceptions. If you are interested in learning it, I would suggest you go and get it, it is amazing to say the least.

Thats probably his easiest trick. His Oil and Water routine uses a similar sleight as just shown. His book is highly recommended for any serious card handler.
