  • "Hey babe would you like to watch a movie? Put this on"

  • genius!

  • Can you get google maps in 3D? Should be able to since there's full 360 movement. If you split your box down the middle and split your screen up into the view for your left and right eyes you'd have the full BLOWN STEREO EXPERIENCE MY FRIEND!!1! :O

  • what a trick , take a phone with camera ,cut the ends of a cardboard box , take d phone and paste it to one end by switching on the camera , put goggles in the box 2 show it real . (i have not seen the video so dont blame on me for posting dis comment) lOl

  • ha ha ha XD

  • you need to make the box smaller, like not as long. a huge box would feel weird. Also, there is an app that i recently discovered called Photaf Panorama (free) and i know there are many panorama apps out there, but this one is different. You can make your own and view others, and it has the compass feature to actually face the same way the person that took it did. Instead of a big straight panorama, its a 360 panorama, and if done correctly, looks really cool, and it would with those goggles too

  • i cant tell if this guy is serious or not...

  • thats nice man super cool!!!

  • no that sounds like you

  • @fuckoffigus no that sounds like you

  • i dont know if you realalise, but you got a box on your head....

  • ViewMaster is immersive because it's stereoscopic not because it's stuck to your face.

  • I want to read a book on it.

  • People here on youtube already think I'm insane if I make something like this I can only imagine what people would think of me even in real life. I think I will deal with people thinking I'm insane on here ( online )

  • j'ai les même lunette a l'atelier --

  • EPIC :D

  • You look alike a fucking DORK!

  • Dude.

This combined with my Gamegun would be awesome!

    hmms... im sold!

Now where do I buy a pair of scuba goggles in the middle of winter?

  • This is a ground-breaking innovation

  • contrary to what else has been said - this is hilarious.

  • Reminds me of my Gameboy Camera Night-Vision "Goggles" I made 5 years ago.

  • So you can look around but how do you move? Take it off and click the arrow, then put on, the take off and hit the arrow and so on?

  • i need watch porn in this thing

  • Wait.. I need to actually WORK for this shit?! O_O

  • I actually think this is cool, seems like something I'd do myself o.o;;

    And you're rather handsome. :3

  • i wish i had a friend that would do something like this around me. he would never put a cardboard box on his head again

  • Haha, this is quite creative :D

  • This looks amazing, I wish to buy a pair

  • sounds cool. wish i had a phone that could do that. [insert sad face here]

  • watching in the dark helps too

PS: a quand le modèle 3D avec deux écran + une béquille télescopique (pour ne pas se cogner la tête quand elle tombe)

Un ptit giro sur la tête pour le FUN et directo HP

  • Part two... how to make a macaroni necklace. ;-)

  • May I offer a suggestion, paint the inside black, or use black card-stock. But great idea for a rainy day, keep the kids away from a computer or t.v. screen project. {For a little while anyway.] Thanks for the post; I'm going to do this with my nephews tomorrow.

    b/b)O(

  • How to make you look like a complete idiot!!

  • I dont like chinese bargains!

  • how.do you get the phone to move with you

  • @deesophiegirl3000 it looks like it has a compass and gyro. thats just a guess though.

  • @deesophiegirl3000 oh he said it at the end, accelrometer and compass.

  • Brilliant!

  • Now, how about going to Dollar Tree/A dollar store and buy a sheet of magnifying lens, then cut out the shape of the goggles and tape the edges. That would give it the appearance of a bigger screen. Ebay, also has the letter-sized magnifying sheets.

  • this idea is recently introduced by a toy manufacturer

  • How do you control the Phone?

  • can you please please please do a tutorial on how to make a carboard car, I really need to look super cool so i can go out and pick up hot cutout chicks

  • I randomly found your video and I think it is a great idea. I have all the parts necessary except the phone. Oh, and my pen is out of ink, dang it! What the...! My craft knife has no blade. I guess it's only the real reality for me. Cool video though.

  • awesome

  • Google streetview is probably a little trippy with those :P

  • chessiest virtual reality googgles jajaja

  • how do you do the street view thing

  • that would be cool if youd play a fps game on it...

  • 0:01

  • HOW DID U MAKE CONTROLL ON THE PHONE. HOW CAN U CHANGE THE LOCATION ON PHONE

  • night vision!!!

  • You can even use the phone cam to see the real reality as virtual reality. AMAZING!

  • This guy has way too much time on his hands lol

  • Hmm, not bad......not bad at all

  • Wow, umm?

  • IVE ALWAYS WANTED A PHONE STUCK ONTO A CARDBOARD BOX! :O

  • teh lolz.

  • I bet he could sell snow to the eskimos

  • @ripcurl010 McFly !!! its Ice to eskimos LOL

  • @mgarc79 I was right

  • The fuck is that?

  • Quite cool, I wouldn't mind the trolls as they have nothing better to do...

Either way, cardboard or no cardboard it is the same concept. You could use metal, sure it would look cooler and possibly hurt your head. Though, he's just showing a cheap way to do it, don't think anyone wants to go buy light weight metal for something like this(Unless they only use they're phone for that reason)!

  • This is stupid! thats not virtual reality, not even a simulator. Thats a stupid phone whith a box and googles

  • 1:58 OMG HITLER!!!!!!

  • @mystery18110001 the f?

  • Cool, Now all I need is a i-phone.

  • I want to Virtually Suffocate you with a pillow on your face til you stop moving

  • .......to much free time....

  • It's immersive and better yet you look.... cool....

  • Comment removed

  • is this calvin? can you teach me how to make a transmogrifier and other fantasitcal devices made out of cardboard?!

  • Creative and fun, but not exactly useful.

  • igoggles.... wear your googles outside!

  • bro wtf are you doing!!! please take this shit off

if you value your credibility!!! DAMN!! LOL!!

  • you should get a remote desktop app and a gyration mouse... play left 4 dead in slightly laggy virtual reality!

  • Dumb jap. How do you make it turn? You didn't explain that?

  • @ImOfNope TrackIR you lazy fuckbucket... go look it up

  • @lilbro209 Ha, ha, ha!!!

  • @ImOfNope =-)

  • if you walk, will you go further?

  • where can I find claude? I've been looking for him

  • Good work! I actually FOLLOWED the tutor until the point where I remembered I had no phone...

  • intresting thanks for the info =D great idea

  • Brilliant work there! Very inspiring for my own projects...

  • lol I cant let the missus come home and catch me with cardboard box on head...again.

  • or you could just fucking go to paris?

  • @mikedarizzle Which costs a lot more...

  • can't stop laugh.... cool dude.

  • What the hell, anyone else disturbed by how goggles, cardboard, and a phone can beat beta virtual reality equipment that costs 100's of thousands?

very nice recombu, not very fun but it is practical =D

  • Sweet! I was just think of how virtual reality could work for creating games and this phone uses the orientation tracking I was thinking about. Just imagine an FPS survival horror game with a button to move forward and backward with a virtual hand to interact such as pushing buttons and shining a flashlight. You'd need to work out NOT damaging the players eyes though. ^^;

  • @thedragonb0y There is something sort of similar to that. look up the Trimersion HMD. I don't know if it works with the newer consoles, but you never know

  • I'm gonna make this then watch the double rainbow video so it feels like im there! DOUBLE RAINBOW ALL THE WAY!

  • you need to get a life dude.

  • @rosarioeddie I like how the man sitting on his ass watching a video and not putting together things to do cool stuff is saying that.

  • It looks like you are just using Google maps and make it look like its in the phone

  • well done , genius simple recycling better design than an expensive proprietary solution. Excellent activity for kids. do it yourself VR glasses. Awesome. Well done mate.!

  • O MY FREAKING GOD I SO DONT WANT A PAIR!!!!!!!

  • @hayabusaninja2 retail versions are actualy real vr goggles and the are 2 screens and metal sencors.

  • does it also work with psp console ?

  • @danilo34marasigan

    bit heavy isnt it?

  • Genius lol

  • smart!!!

  • your genius

  • Now I wonzt have to go out and experience the world with all it's dangers!!! Nah...

  • Very creative idea :) I like it :)

  • life. a. get. rearrange.

  • why not a shoebox thats been cutup in size hmm cool idea thanks

  • lol ze " iDiot " xD

  • what would happen if you walk around while wearing them

  • needs two screens, each showing the same image, but a little different. this way, there is some sort of depth perception, which would increase immersion

  • use pico projector for screen make the screen 360

conect to the pc and use papervision and watch little dragons run around the room

    heheheheheh!

  • LOL, I HAD THE SAME IDEA, but to use an additional lens.

  • crap but... good thinking.. good inspiration ... well done!

  • This is hilarious, and yet somewhat functional....

  • Genious!

  • I think thats really clever at least you went and did it!

  • @letteapplejuice thats what she said

  • @zker666 LOL!!! :D

  • aannd ,.... whats that :S !

  • ha lolz EPIC

  • for a second here i thought we were going to make 3d virtual reality goggles with a custom driver that takes any 3d game in d3d, opengl, or direct x and interprets the depths and 3d data and generates two views for each eye using the ingame 3d data and displays them on 2 screens that were gutted out of something small and broken and fitted into something like the casing above with separators for each eye to only see its designated screen to play games in 3d with possibly a depth adjustment knob.

  • That would have been cool but i guess I was wrong (darn)

(ran out of letters so I had to post this as part 2/2 lol)

  • this is the stupidiestfdf vid evasdf stupifdd

  • Would be great with a high resolution AMOLED screen like that of Samsung Omnia 2 or HTC Desire. You could put the screen even nearer to eyes due to crisper and higher fill rate.

  • This is totally awesome, made one for my HD Icon.

Movies never looked this awesome hehe.

love it, just have to find a way to swap the phone in and out easily

    Thumbs up.

  • thats really fucking stupid

  • Now you need to add some augmented reality zombies to the camera and let the shootfest begin :D

  • lol, turn your camera on and try to walk around with the camera as your eyes! :P

  • Hmm, not bad at all.

  • great work =D

  • Hehe. Low cost VR.

  • what program do you use to the phone?

  • I just made one of these, except I put a light on the front that is triggered with 3 feet of speaker wire. I'm wondering if anybody had any ideas of what else to add?!

  • This is so cool!

  • im gonna do this for x plane on my iphone xD

  • cool

  • looks awesome. this would work well with layar.

  • long term usage of such devices may cause permanent changes to your eyes, especially if you are prone to myopia

  • lol thats the way taliban makes there nighvisions maybe

  • is it fake?

  • what no sticky back plastic? lol

  • how dose it work how do u get the google maps on your phone and move when the phone moves

  • @bomcool

He told you at the end, the accelerometer and the compass built in, the iPhone 3Gs has both of those aswell. Most new smartphones have them

  • WOW! thats futuristic

    :)

  • did it work with my game boy? ;-)

  • cool 5/5

  • se inserivi uno sfondo nero all'interno del tuo oggetto e isolavi la luce esterna era meglio

  • You should really try adding a fresnel lens to this setup. Get one of those page magnifiers from an office supply store and find a way to put it in your setup so that the center of it lines up with the screen. You may have to experiment to find the right focal length, but it will really enhance the illusion.

I'm using one on my 21" monitor and the effect is surprising. An 8x11" magnifier isn't enough for 21 inches, so I"m ordering a larger one. 8.5x11 should be plenty for your project though

  • that's great

  • HEHE GREAT

  • cool what program are you using?

  • love the accent

  • Great 5*

  • There is an android app available just now from Google labs called Google goggles. It can (with about 50% accuracy) recognise logos and google for them from static photo images. If they have that released I'll bet they plan to get to the point where they can emebed clickable AR objects onto 3d AR goggles so you have Layer type technology on your view of the real world.

I'm so excited by this stuff. It looks epic.

    Great vid.

  • Take this to the next level.

Another cardboard strip up the middle and use a split screen lefteye/righteye on the phone.

It would probably mean writing a custom display driver for android and that would be tuff but given that it's open source not impossible.

I have to say Google are SOOOO working on this right now.

  • that is fuckin sweet!!!!!!

  • Lolz i already made 1 (with this tut)

  • i dont think goggles is the way to go for artificial reality, it would ruin your eyesight very quickly having to look at a screen inches away from your eyes

  • you could make a 3d goggle:

need red and green plastic, 2 mirrors....might need 2 mirrors that can be seen through from the other side.

  • very good! nice job!! but the paint is easyest

  • i can do that with my head and why dont you just put the tv on

  • hahaha thats briliant :D Im gonne try that with me Hero :)

  • wow! great idea!

  • Could you make it stereoscopic?

  • Silly looking and cool at the same time if you know what i mean LOL 5*.

  • Good job, mate. 5*, subbed. Check out my cardboard creations.

  • this will work in gyms on the tredmill..

  • I listen to the Crave podcast, and I remember you being on it. Weirdest moment of my life hearing your voice out of nowhere. Complete coincidence.

  • I'm not sure, but perhaps in about 3 weeks we'll see one of these, not in cardboard, but in shiny white plastic with an apple logo on it. Oh, and a £400 price tag.

Maybe they'll call it an iDiot. Well, maybe.
